The Howling Abyss has one more surprise left... [CHAMP CONCEPT]

Hello everyone! I've been thinking up my own little champion concept lately. I'll try to do my best to explain the ideas that I got. Unfortunately, I don't possess the art skills to properly represent the champion look I have in mind. If there is an artist that likes my idea and wants to help me realize a design for it, I'd be really excited.

Anyway, let's start!

The core:

  • Tank, melee fighter. Probably more of a bruiser.
  • Team-oriented kit, laning may be subpar.
  • CC-packed.
  • One of the last remaining servants of the Watchers.

The skillset:

Passive: Watcher's Mark.

His abilities apply the a Mark that reveals enemies for 5 seconds. Possibility to have him destealth enemies as well. He and his allies gain x% movement speed when moving towards enemies with the Mark.

Q: Glacier Crusher.

You smack the ground with your true ice weapon. Stuns enemies directly in the centre and slows those around it. Has a windup time.

Damage: physical, AD scaling.

Traits:

  • Ground-targetted skillshot.

Howling Storm bonus:

This ability gains range, and after throwing, you are dragged along by it, landing on the outside of the impact zone. It basically becomes a gapclosing ability. Enemies within the path of this skill are pushed aside and slowed.

The point of this bonus is to give him a proper engage ability, since he will probably be the initiator for the team. Tying his only gapclosing spell into his ultimate also means that he has to sacrifice a lot if he wants to escape a dire situation, and it enforces the all-in character. It heavily discourages using it defensively.

W: Frostguard.

You start channeling for x seconds, reducing incoming damage by x%. You can walk while channeling (so I'm not sure if it's a true channel), but are heavily slowed. After those x seconds, you retaliate sending forth a medium-ranged cone-shaped skillshot of ice shards that damage and slowed.

Scaling for damage reduction: armour. Damage orientation and scaling for the ice shards: AP, magic damage.

Traits:

  • Channeled ability.
  • Has a slight cast time before you start channeling that can be interrupted by displacements, stuns and silences.

Howling Storm bonus:

Damage absorption increases, and enemies caught within the ice shards have their armour and magic resist reduced by x%.

The point of this bonus is to make him more tanky within his storm, and the armour/MR shred is a useful thing that you whole team benefits from. Since the combination of not-too-insane range and you being significantly slowed means enemies have enough time to get out of the radius, hitting it has a high reward.

E: Vengeful Blow.

You smash away enemies with an AoE skillshot (kinda resembling Diana's Q). The damage increases based on the amount of champions you hit.

Damage: physical, AD scaling.

Howling Storm bonus:

Enemies that hit terrain are briefly rooted and are damaged more.

The point of this bonus is to make him the new Gnar get rewarded for positioning correctly and hitting them the right way. It is however a root to allow more counterplay and putting you at a risk, since you can get fairly hurt yourself if they retaliate.

Ult: Howling Storm

You call forth a storm that covers an area of x units and lasts for x seconds. Your 3 basic abilities gain bonus functionality within the storm, and enemies tagged with your passive are both revealed for twice the amount and grant you and your allies twice the speed buff when moving towards them.

This concept is simply for fun. I think the skillset has quite some interesting things in it, I hope you guys can agree.

Oh, also, some basic things:

Role: Tank, secondary: Fighter. Most likely roles to be filled: Top, maybe support. Range: Melee, so probably 125 or something.

I actually nearly have to go right now. If there are some points that you feel need more explanation, please point it out. I'd be more than happy to change a few things around to help improve the concept.

Oh, also, lore:

''He watched them fall. Those Iceborn fools had thrown them into the Abyss. With nothing but his masters in mind, he dove after them, giving up all that he had on this world. He watched the skies disappear above his head, falling ever deeper.

A sound. Echoes. He opened his eyes... no... his eye. Only one of his eyes opened. He looked up. Darkness. But still, fresh air was flowing down from there. The sounds must've been carried down with them. His eyes adapted to the all-consuming black around him. He looked at himself. He had changed. He was shocked. His left arm, half missing, with a spike of ice sticking out of it. His right arm seemed untouched. He felt the floor around him. No, not a floor. A mere ridge of rock. He didn't recall ever landing on it.

A glow. Subtle, but enough to catch his sight. His sight. It had improved. He remembered the nights of old, nights where he couldn't see a thing. Yet, in this vast emptiness, devoid of light but that one shimmer, he could see as if it was day. He could locate it. A ridge, just a bit away. There seemed to be some sort of path to it. He walked on it, although it was an even smaller ridge than the one he was just on. Then he saw what he was moving towards.

A weapon. Shimmering, vibrant with cold energy. He grabbed it by the handle and felt the cold. It wasn't the cold he remembered though. It filled him with energy. And wrath. He recalled what happened. He relived those last seconds of his old life. He yet again saw his masters fall ever deeper. But he wasn't allowed to follow them.

He decided that going deeper would be stupid. One can only ever reach higher. And thus, he started climbing. Step by step, ledge by ledge, carrying his weapon. As he climbed, he saw the light. The light felt like a thousand suns right before his eyes. He set his foot onto the bridge. His bridge. The bridge he had sacrificed everything for to defend. He roared. He roared with a fury he had never felt before. He called forth his deepest, most inner desires, right from his frozen heart. A storm was conjured. The bridge shivered. A new legend was born.''

We can conclude from the lore that he misses an eye, misses part of his left arm, and he carries a weapon in his right hand (probably something similar to a morning star). His Q and E use his weapon, but he auto-attacks with the left-arm ice spike. He is supposed to look rugged, he has been in a dark, icy pit for centuries after all.

Anyway, I'm off for now. Looking forward to your reactions!
