[Champion Concept] Charrion, Chains of the Shadows

In life, she tended the menagerie of the Blessed Isles, giving each creature, from the largest light lion, to the tiniest fae squirrel, a place in her blessed heart.

That is, until the Isles became corrupted and shrouded in shadows, turning all who grace the mists of the Isles into corrupted figments of their former selves.

Now she calls herself Charrion, and she takes deep pleasure in enthralling each and every soul bound to the Isles, in their own personalized hell at the ends of her chains.

"With each scream you make, as you writhe and shake, my heart stammers and quakes, with ecstasy as your soul breaks."

Ranged Mage/Support

Passive - Fear of the Dark: Charrion gains a charge of Darkness with every ability cast, one for an auto attack every few seconds, and traveling a certain distance. Once she has 5 charges, she gains an empowered action. Allowing her direct damaging abilities to cause her enemies hit to Flee from her, dealing her ability power with an on hit effect to her auto attack, or gaining a burst of speed and brief invisibility with a movement command.

Q - Flay the Shadows - First Cast: Charrion summons shadow hands that travel in a target direction.

  • Second Cast: The hands slash in a cone and deal magic damage to all enemies hit, grabbing all enemy champions hit, rooting them for a moment as Charrion gains temporary bonus mana that last for several seconds, equal to half this ability's cost.

W - Shrouded in Shadows: Charrion cloaks herself in the shadow hands, gaining invisibility, but enemies can still see the dark cloud of hands where she is. Enemy champions in melee range who hit her with an attack or ability are knocked away from her by the hands and dealt a portion of the damage dealt to her as magic damage. Ranged attacks and abilities that hit her cause the hands to throw the projectile back as an automatic skill shot to the champion who hit her, effecting them with a portion of the effect or damage dealt to her.

E - Chains of Dark - First Cast: Charrion throws chains in a cone in a targeted direction, tethering Charrion to all champions hit, dealing magic damage to enemy champions. Champions who attempt to move out of range of Charrion are slowly pulled, but not interrupted, back towards Charrion, the further away the greater the pull, and once they are out of range the tether snaps.

  • Second Cast: Charrion yanks the chains, pulling all champions tethered to her a short distance, breaking their tether, and damaging enemies for a portion of the missing health.

R - The Legion of Shadows: Charrion summons the countless lost souls bound to the Shadow Isles to her. Charrion gains a magic damaging area of effect around her for several seconds, as well as amplifying her auto attack to deal a portion of her magic damage as well. For the duration, her abilities also have amplified areas of effect.

  • Rend the Shadows launching three hands in a wider area.

  • Shrouded in Shadows reflective effects last throughout the duration but the active invisibility also shrouds her allies around her.

  • Chains of Darkness is now constantly pulling enemies chained towards Charrion, as well as making the cone a complete 360 effect.

Fun Effect, if Charrion is healed of shielded by an ally projectile during Shroud of Shadows, such as Sona or Lux, Charrion will be healed and then throw the projectile back, healing or shielding her ally.

Champion design: I don't know why you chose the title "chains of the shadows" for this champion. I would avoid creating a champ from the shadow isles with strong chain thematic because we already have Thresh. And the kit in general doesn't even utilise alot of chains.... mostly there are hands and just 1 chain sill. So maybe another title like "grasp of the mist" would be better?

And the lore of the champ is not well implemented... she used to lead a menagerie, but she has just that one chain skill which kind of is related to it. I would love to have an undead beast tamer from the shadow isles, there were several suggestions like that for example for a jungler who can resurrect the dead jungle creeps as pets. So some change to either lore or kit would be great...

Kit: Passive: I think she shouldn't get stacks for casting spells and travelled distance... since she is a mage, I would say she should get stacks for casting spells. Especially since the effect changes depending on what you are doing after reaching the stacks, it is much easier to track for the player himself if she just gets stacks per spell casted and so planning on how to use the empowered mechanic.

Q: Seems fine, I guess. Maybe a bit too rewarding with the mana gain... having an aoe root to hit is rewarding enough, don't you think?

W: You don't mention it here specifically, but I assume it just reflects the first hit? If yes: good spell, like it.

E: Doesn't need the second cast in my opinion, already pretty strong ability. Interesting mechanic, saw that suggested multiple times. But breaking the tether seems a bit counter intuitive... you get pulled for going away and pulled further if you are far away. Maybe another form of counterplay would be better. For example: the tether breaks if you hit Charrion x times.

R: Way too strong and overloaded. You get AoE dot around you, additional magic damage on AA, complete reflection of enemy skillshots, team wide invisibility and 2 big AoE CCs. Her basic abilities are already pretty strong, her power budget definitely doesn't allow such an ult. Make it simple, an ultimate doesn't have to interact with every piece of a kit.

Facit: Kit and champion design don't really go together. I like the lore of having a menagerie leader from the shadow isles and would like to keep that theme, but it would need another kit. And the kit has some interesting spells worth to keep like the W and E. My idea: split this concept up in 2 champion concepts. Create a new lore for the kit you have here which is fitting for it and create a new kit for the lore you made up. I hope to read more from you in the future.
