WIP Kain The Sin Collector

Kain is no longer being tailored to any specific contest so anyone who has looked at him before should check again for any changes. (for those curious I actually made 2nd place in the CCOS contest so I'm keeping the bonus stuff that helped me get to that as cannon for my character)

Lore: Not all in Bilgewater are filthy lowlifes with no regrets of being a criminal. Some often develop quite the conscience and have even felt the need to redeem themselves and save their souls. Which is where the Faith of the Gilded Church comes in. Those who follow the Gilded faith are offered holy enlightenment, redemption for sins past, and more humble benefits such as expensive magical jewels and high paying positions within the Church. But for those who are sinful, the ones who refuse to pay tithes to the Church for the safety and salvation they grant, drastic measures must be taken. This is when the Sin Collectors such as Kain Barbero must perform their duty and extract the wickedness from the faithless, by force if necessary.

Kain has always been one of the more devout followers of the Gilded Faith, having been raised by Church members since he was but a small orphan of Bilgewater. Surviving from day to day by stealing food and coin, Kain thought he could buy himself away from the hive of scum and villainy he saw around him every day. Eventually though, Kain's hands mistakenly found their way into the pocket of a High Priest of the Gilded. He was already ten yards away before he found himself bound at the ankles by magical ropes from the priest's staff. Hearing the boy's story for why he was stealing, the priest found himself generous, and offered the boy a chance to be employed by the Gilded rather than have to fight for his survival on the streets. Kain agreed to the deal on the spot and earned his keep quickly among the other followers.

Over time Kain found his talents lay not just in picking pockets, but in stabbing backs as well. His innate lack of remorse lended itself well to being a Sin Collector, for many followers of the Gilded Faith lacked the endurance or wealth to reach salvation, and as such had to be put down to relieve them of their burdens. Merciless as he was zealous in his faith, Kain's initial promotion to Sin Collector was celebrated with a gift of enchanted blades that would carry him straight to the faithless heathens he sought out and deliver his righteous justice to them. Tools that proved invaluable as Kain cut down any who would deny the Church's power. Rich men who refuse to pay tithes. Poor men who lie about their ability to pay. Men who denounce their faith and break their contracts with the Church. Heretics every one of them. Their's is no debt of coin, but of blood. And Kain will be sure to collect.

Abilities (are meant to showcase Kain's skills and tools that he uses to hunt down heretics and make them pay up) (he is definitely an assassin champion in having no sustain beyond his passive which is only truly useful in surviving against champions who have after death powers or dot based damage)

Innate- "Tithe Drinker" Kain can gain gold and steal health whenever he auto attacks an enemy champion the first time (has a small CD per champion like nautilus passive). Health steal on 1st champion hit--> 1/2/3% of the enemy health Gold gain on 1st champion hit--> 10/15/20 gold ~~cooldown--> 20/17.5/15 sec (changes at levels 7 and 13)

Q- "Heretic Stalker" Your next auto attack will deal extra physical damage and turn you invisible after landing the attack. If the attack kills then the ability is reset; making the next attack also deal bonus damage, turn you invisible afterwards, and has the potential to reset on a kill. Bonus damage on next auto attack--> 40/70/100/130/160 (+40% bonus attack damage) Duration of invisibility--> 3 sec Mana cost--> 50/55/60/65/70 mana Cooldown--> 7 sec

W- "Bonds of Faith" All enemies immediately around you are tethered to you and will take magic damage over time and if they are champions are increasingly slowed while they remain tethered. Damage per sec--> 10/15/20/25/30 (+30% AP) ~~max damage--> 50/75/100/125/150 (+150% AP) Initial slow amount--> 10/15/20/25/30% ~~increase per sec tethered--> 5% ~~max slow--> 35/40/45/50/55% Cast AoE--> 450 unit diameter ~~tether range--> 600 units Duration--> 5 sec Mana cost--> 90 mana Cooldown--> 15 sec

E- "Purge the Profane" Throwing out an enchanted blade you will apply all on hit effects to the target and silence them. They also receive reduced healing for a few seconds. Damage--> 80/90/100/110/120% AD Silence duration--> 1 sec Grievous wounds duration--> 4 sec Cast range--> 600 units radius Mana Cost--> 50/55/60/65/70 mana Cooldown--> 9 sec

R- "Gilded Blades" Passively Kain gains increased movement speed. Activation of this effect temporarily doubles the passive bonus, grants attack damage, and grants the ability to dash in any given direction to auto attack at the cost of duration of the mode. Passive speed buff--> 10/15/20% ~~speed buff when active--> 20/30/40% Active bonus attack damage--> 25/50/75 attack damage Active duration--> 12 sec Secondary active dash distance--> 250 units ~~dash hit-box width--> 200 units ~~dash duration--> 0.5 sec (animation time basically) Active duration decrease on dash--> 1 sec Dash cooldown--> 1 sec (starts upon dashing) Mana cost--> 100/110/120 mana Active cooldown--> 80/70/60 sec

April CCOS Content-->bonus "Fooled You!" section: (two truths and a lie scenario)

1st: While she appreciates the drive it gave her to become part of Pentakill, Sona has never forgiven Kain for breaking up with her. ~~The verdict: False! Kain has actually only attempted to date one member of the League and she tried to kill him when Kain said some cookies she'd made him tasted burnt, and she too has never forgiven him.

2nd: While acting as an emissary of the Gilded Church on a trade voyage to Noxus from Bilgewater, Kain had to share a room with Katarina and heard her say in her sleep, "But why does she get to be Prom Queen? She's half my age..." ~~The verdict: True! But he also knew she had been through multiple drinking games before she entered the room and fell into her bed, so he presumed she was more half-awake and drunk than dreaming.

3rd: Talon and Kain once disguised themselves as plain civilians, went bar hopping in Demacia until they were arrested and put in jail for starting a bar brawl, just to see which one could get out of jail first. ~~The verdict: True! It was all on a dare/bet and the loser was forced to go on a date with Morgana. Needless to say, Kain is no longer friends with Talon.

The passive seems a bit odd. Would definitely need some numbers to judge it. With just the idea, all I have to say is : why gold gain? It seems really out of place. It could simply be : When you kill a unit, gain HP and when you hit an enemy champion, gain HP (with a per champion cooldown). The gold gain aspect seems tacked on for no reason.

As for his W, it seems like the kind of ability that makes this guy simply impossible to flee from, ESPECIALLY combined with his ult. Why not make it a short CD cone effect that has a slight delay and that applies a short duration slow? Ex : slows for 20%/25%/30%/35%/40% for 1 second. 3 seconds CD. If you heavily invest in CDR, you can keep your target slowed most of the time, but they have the possibility of dodging the slow and getting away. This seems much healthier than ''Once I'm on you, we fight and one of us dies''. That kind of play pattern is why Skarner got reworked in the first place.

And his E, I have to ask : Why does he need a targeted ability when he has the option of jumping on your face anyway? And why combine a CONSTANT slow with a targeted silence? It makes him truly impossible to fight.

Other than that the kit is very simple and straightforward, but not that's not necessarily a bad thing. However, I do want to point that I feel like there is very little way to express skill and very little outplay potential AGAINST the kit. It seems like a bruiser kit straight out of 2010 (aka Irelia ). TBH I thought Riot could never do a bruiser that needs skill to function properly and then they made Gnar. He's far from Xerath levels of outplayable (by his opponents) but he's not nearly as bad as Miss-Imma-Jump-On-You-With-Physical-Magical-AND-True Damage-And-Ignore-All-Your-CC-LOL (seriously, fuck you Irelia XD)

Hmmmm I'm thinking about entering my own competition(as a joke of course) just because I want to.

Anyway! The new ultimate is much more interesting, but I think stats would definitely top of the "Je ne se qua" feel it has.

"The Gilded Church? Just another group of heretics who hide under the name of divinity." Saul's eyes flicker through his armor as he emerges from the shadows and calls for the assassin who is clearly hidden. Saul knows he he had been followed ever since he entered Bilgewater...The city-state is notorious for harboring Thieves Guild members, but they are not what he is here for this time around. Send the best to kill the best they say.

Your opponent for the April MCCC challenge is Saul, The Noble Knight

Right then! update notice:

Lore has been adjusted to no longer incorporate the April MCCC and the bonus story for that has also been removed (for the better).

Kain's old passive "Benediction of Wealth" has been replaced with "Tithe Drinker" so instead of gaining health any time he gains gold he now just steals health when he "steals" gold from hitting a champion.

The cost on his E has also been reduced and his ultimate now has a lower base speed buff and a flat CD across all levels for the active dash.

I love the idea of a corrupt church! Can't wait to see some stats thrown into this unique concept!

The only thing I don't like is the ultimate...seems a bit dull to me.

Hey Goat! I said I'd drop by and re-read your concept once you'd had a chance to retool a few things, so here I am. And again, this is your concept first and foremost, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt :P

Right off the bat, I like the new passive a lot better. I do want to share one idea though. If this passive is going to be Kain's only means of sustain, and the only utility it provides is gold gain, I don't think it would be overpowered to allow Kain's autoattacks against champions to reduce the cooldown of the passive. That way, if you do get into a straight 1v1 fight, you'll be able to get the %Heal from his passive more than once in that fight. His laning phase would be almost unaffected by this change, as straight up trades without his passive up wouldn't be his strong suit anyway. The only thing to worry about then is the gold gain portion, and you might think about reducing it a bit. I feel like it's fine as-is, a free minion every 20s will add up, but I think Gangplank can get more than that from his Q.

I agree that the ultimate passive speed boost needed to be lowered a bit, and the rest of my previous feedback pretty much still stands. As it stands, this is a definite improvement. Good job.

Made some minor adjustments to my champion design, but I should be setting up stats within the next few days! On that same note once I have I'll be more than willing to go around and offer my advice to others in either helping to make an entry or make an entry better (like give my pov is all).
