[Champion Concept] Proteus, The Cyber Acolyte
"...Have you ever felt the terrors of your tattered mortal coil?"
The boy was sick and bedridden; He had always wondered why. While children played, the boy had stayed and watched the world pass by.
"...Did you ever curse the frailties of your pathetic Earthly shell?"
His organs had been failing; his family, though, was poor. They'd worked their best, but nonetheless, they'd always needed more.
"...I am here to tell you, brothers: That mortality is not absolute."
In frantic desperation, his mother sought Him out. It would be a climb, but yes, in time, the boy would be about.
"...I bring you hope, my dearest sisters: For salvation from the flesh.
His limbs did not cooperate. He was glad when they were gone. Part by part, his frame would start, resembling something strong.
"...I stand before you an example of Hope. For yourselves; your children; and for the future of Runeterra. These are the designs of the Herald of a new age. An age of splendour! An age of Progress! A future of unmitigated Evolution!"

#Proteus, The Cyber Acolyte
Greed... Gluttony...
Born into poverty, he began his life as a scavenger - sifting through the streets and slums engulfed by the shadows cast by the fusion of iron and mortar that gave form to the tandem towers teetering over his home. Life there was difficult, but how could he have known any better? Terrors and dangers littered the streets - enough to dissuade the pragmatism a child might have otherwise displayed in more nurturing conditions.
Toxins by day, monsters by night. To stay alive, he was raised to stay vigilant. But vigilance takes its toll - and he would inevitably make a mistake. All it took was one false breath; and his organs began to fail him. He felt betrayal when his family resolved to sell off what still worked as scrap to the highest bidder, but such practice was routine in the depths of the Zaunite nightmare to which he had been born - and so he reluctantly chose to understand.
Suddenly, an anomaly.
A figure among the coats and fur; clad from head to toe in steel - cut from a very different cloth than the rest. The figure watched him, and so he stared back; even as the men in the room tried to outbid one another for what could still be salvaged from his failing body; even as they, one after another, conceded their claims and withdrew from the auction.
The figure clad in steel matched every bid his competitors made, much to the delight of the parents, until only he and they remained. From beneath the cloak he wore upon his shoulder, a third hand unfurled itself - beckoning the child to take it.
"What are you going to do with me?"
"I will do what your family could not."
As he took the figure's hand in his own, his eyes widened. It was strange how cold metal could feel so... warm.
"I will give you a choice."
#Champion Overview
Proteus is a versatile champion, designed to excel in any situation. His varied selection of abilities allow him to respectably step in for nearly any role, while his passive, Techmaturgic Augmentation, allows him to manually adapt to the flow of the game by purchasing relevant stats, effects and consumables through his unique inventory system.
He skirmishes with two saw-toothed blades that retract and protrude from his forearms. At a distance, he utilises a retractable forearm-mounted plasma cannon, capable of condensing and firing techmaturgic energy at unwary targets.
Proteus is efficient, intelligent, and oh so intimidating. His sleek design very easily belies his destructive potential as a weapon without a leash.
#Passive - Techmaturgic Augmentation
Proteus is a marvel of modern techmaturgy. Designed with the intent to supersede obsolescence, Proteus is capable of augmenting his own stats and abilities infinitely. Unfortunately, techmaturgy is still a relatively young science - and as such, the costs of rapid augmentation can be steep. As the game progresses, the price of further augmentation will drop; a testament to the exponential speed at which emerging technology is advancing.
Note that Though Proteus may purchase stats directly, the cost of purchasing the same stats or effects over and over will rise by a percentile as indicated by a red [%---] notification when in the shop. As time passes, this percentile will drop back to [%0]. This is based on stats bought against his time spent in the match - NOT by Proteus' most recent purchases.
- Example 1: Proteus buys 400 health by 5 minutes. The game decides buying any more health will incur a 50% price increase, but drops to 0% again by 10 mins.
- Example 2: Proteus buys no health until 10 mins, but then grabs 400 all at the same time. Because the price gate is based on a combination of both the match timer and amount of stats purchased, there is no current %CostIncrease.
With the exception of trinkets, Proteus can NOT buy standard items from the store. Each item occupies 1 spot in Proteus' inventory and may not be sold.
UNIQUE ITEM - Hydraulics Enables Proteus to directly augment his frame and increase his overall mobility. By spending gold, Proteus may choose to upgrade his Movement and Attack Speed.
- Boot upgrades (such as homeguard) can be purchased. Limit 1 upgrade at a time.
- Slow resistance can be purchased and stacked, up to a cap of 35%,
- Upon reaching level 11, a Backup Processor can be purchased and consumed to cleanse any current disabling effects. Comes with 1 charge, on a 60 second cooldown. Is replenished when returning to base.
UNIQUE ITEM - Central Processing Unit Enables Proteus to directly augment and improve his processing speed, reaction time, secondary repair functions and general cognitive capacity. By spending Gold, Proteus may choose to upgrade his HP, Mana, Health Regen p/5 and Mana regen p/5.
- Cooldown Reduction can be purchased and stacked, up to a cap of 40%.
- Liquid Polymer Charges (consumable) may be purchased to heal a small amount of hp and mana over 15 seconds upon activation.
- Upon reaching level 11, Liquid Polymer Charges are replaced with Techmaturgic Polymer Satchels (consumable), which may be purchased to heal 20% missing hp and mana over 15 seconds upon activation (high level potions!)
UNIQUE ITEM - Pneumatic Actuator Enables Proteus to augment his own offensive capabilities. By spending Gold, Proteus may choose to upgrade his Ability Power and Attack Damage.
- Slow on Hit% effects can be purchased for spell and/or physical damage, up to a cap of 40%(single target, melee standard attacks), 20%(AoE/DoT/ranged standard attacks).
- On-Hit effects such as Spellblade or Devourer can be purchased. 'Unique Passive' restrictions apply as per normal. Each on-hit purchase increases the price of subsequent on-hit purchases exponentially (don't wait to get that jungler passive!)
- Upon reaching level 11, Proteus may purchase either a 20% total AP increase (Rabadon's clone), or a 10% total AD increase.
- Upon reaching level 11, Proteus may purchase a distortion device which can be used to render him untargetable for 1 second, lowering his movement speed by 80% and disabling attacks and ability/spell use for the duration. 90 Second cooldown.
UNIQUE ITEM - Cognitive Sensors Enables Proteus to augment his sensors, multiplying the effect and accuracy of both mundane and sophisticated martial tasks. By spending Gold, Proteus may choose to upgrade his CritChance%, SpellVamp%, LifeSteal%, Magic Penetration and Armour Penetration.
- Proximity Sensor Charges (Consumable) can be purchased, and act like wards. Pressing the relevant activation button a second time will switch between standard stealth and vision wards.
- A Bio-Scanner can be purchased, increasing Proteus' damage against - and gold gain from - monsters by 15%. Upon reaching level 11, a second purchase may be made to double this effect, additionally increasing damage to minions and pets by 10%.
UNIQUE ITEM - Reinforced Dermal Platings Enables Proteus to augment the external frame that shields his vital organs and processors, reducing the potential wear and tear brought on by extended combat. By spending Gold, Proteus may choose to upgrade his Armour and Magic Resistance.
- Tenacity% can be purchased and stacked, up to a cap of 35%.
- Upon reaching level 11, Hard Backups (Consumable) can be purchased to automatically revive Proteus upon death at 30% max HP, and 15% max Mana. Limit 1 charge held at any one time, 3 minute cooldown.
- Upon reaching level 11, a Kinetic Transistor may be purchased. When struck by a high-impact ability that deals over 30% of Proteus' current health in damage, Proteus will automatically gain a shield equal to 10% of his max health. 30 second cooldown.
UNIQUE ITEM - Function Tracker Upon entering the Rift, the Plaer will be prompted to pick 1 of 4 functions. In addition to influencing Proteus' base values, each function will also have various influences on Proteus' abilities. Function setting is PERMANENT.
[Function: Suppression] - Abilities that hit more than 3 targets (including minions and monsters) will refund 50% of the mana cost. Abilities that hit 5 or more targets will additionally deal 20% bonus damage.
[Function: Deadeye] - Proteus' standard attacks gain 450 bonus range.
[Function: Vanguard] - Every 15 seconds, Proteus can absorb and nullify the damage from 1 enemy spell or ability. Will not nullify secondary effects (such as bonus damage effects, successive hits with the same ability, snares, stuns, etc)
{Function: Bedlam] - Each successful small minion or monster kill will grant 0.1 seconds of stealth. Large minions or monsters will grant 0.3 seconds. Champion kills will grant 0.5 seconds.
Upon reaching level 15, Proteus will be able to select a secondary function, receiving all relevant benefits.
#Q - Proto-Thrusters
Proteus launches himself forward with irrepressible force, knocking enemies aside and dealing AP damage to any enemies struck.
[Function: Suppression] - Radius increased by 20%, enemies are now stunned for 0.5 seconds when struck.
[Function: Deadeye] - Can now be cast a second time within 4 seconds of initial cast. Does damage, costs mana to recast.
[Function: Vanguard] - Proto-Thrusters can now clip to - and pursue - targeted enemy champions, knocking them towards Proteus' point of origin if he makes contact.
[Function: Bedlam] - Thrusters travel 20% further and leave a trail of flame that damages enemies for 3 seconds.
#W - Techmaturgic Discharge
The ground around Proteus becomes Techmaturgically charged and discharges after a brief delay, damaging any enemies caught in the area of effect.
[Function: Suppression] - Discharge radius increased by 20%, hostiles caught are stunned for 0.5 seconds.
[Function: Deadeye] - Discharge is now instantaneous and deals 50% damage upfront, with the remaining 50% being dished out over 5 seconds.
[Function: Vanguard] - Gain a shield upon discharge equal to 3% max HP for each hostile target struck (up to a cap of 15%) for 3 seconds.
[Function: Bedlam] - Techmaturgic Discharge will no longer activate unless enemies are in range, and can lay dormant for up to 20 seconds before activating. Hostiles that activate the discharge will become "Electrified", dealing 25% damage taken to their nearby allies over 4 seconds.
#E - End Effectors / Guided Munitions
PASSIVE: Gain a passive effect based on function choice(s).
ACTIVE: Launches a guided missile towards a targeted location, dealing AoE damage in a small blast radius.
[Function: Suppression] - Cooldown decreased by 2 seconds.
PASSIVE BONUS: Standard attacks deal bonus magic damage equal to 3% max mana.
[Function: Deadeye] - Can now cast while moving. Hitting a target dead-centre will increase the damage they take by 35%.
PASSIVE BONUS: Successfully hitting a champion with any of your abilities will increase Proteus' movement speed by 15/22/30 for 2 seconds.
[Function: Vanguard] - 2 smaller missiles will detach from the first as it nears the point of impact, causing two adjacent explosions that each deal 50% damage in a smaller radius.
PASSIVE BONUS: Every standard attack upon a hostile target will increase Proteus' Armour and MR by 2%, up to a cap of 20%, for 2.5 seconds.
[Function: Bedlam] - Upon impact, the missile will coat the area in flames, dealing burning damage over time. The flames will spread unpredictably over 3 seconds, before exhausting.
PASSIVE BONUS: Gain 5% bonus movement speed, Attack Damage and Ability Power while stealthed. Flames deal 150% damage to minions.
#R - Techmaturgic Conductor
Proteus summons an immobile Techmaturgic Conductor at a target location, dealing magic damage to all targets within its radius over 6 seconds.
[Function: Suppression] - Dropping from the sky, the Techmaturgic Conductor strikes the Earth with such force that all hostiles caught in the impact zone are briefly knocked into the air. [Function: Deadeye] - Isolated targets take 10% additional damage from all sources while under the effects of the Conductor. Successfully defeating an enemy Champion while they are Isolated and within the effect radius of the Techmaturgic Conductor will grant Proteus a non-stackable 10% damage bonus for 12 seconds. [Function: Vanguard] - Allies within the Techmaturgic Conductor's radius gain 10% bonus Movement Speed and Magic Resistance. [Function: Bedlam] - Hostile units that are defeated within the radius of the Techmaturgic Conductor will explode, dealing additional damage to any of their nearby allies. Graphic.
