New Taric and Poppy skins may come out whenever they do the reworks (so in a while)

Also, Corki and Swain should be bold.

I don't see this as a bad thing. Based on this data, 70 something champions (far over half) HAVE gotten skins this or last year, and that's a ton of skins for half a year. And that's not counting the amount of skins that got Visual updates when their champions did, and the amount of champions that came out. Not many people realize this, but when a champ gets a Visual Update, all their skins that got updated take as much time and effort as making a 750 skin, and a new champion takes as much planning and work as a Legendary or Ultimate skin. It's really an amazing feat in my opinion.

Is Kennen getting any sort of update? His kit is fine but he really needs a visual upgrade ... he has triangle face and i'm pretty sure his lack of (new visual changing) skins is because of that fact. He could do with a morg style abilities update too! Kennen poor guy

I doubt that popularity has that much to do with skins. After all making skins for less popular champs can be even more profitable for the game as a whole,because skins can make unpopular champs more popular,thus making more players buy these champs.

Overall it has a lot to do with: -How many skins a certain champ already has(champs with a lot of skins will receive less skins,thats pretty much the reason why skarner got battlecaset and guardian of the sand so quick after each other,because he didn't have that many skins)

-How easy it is to make a skin for said champ(thats why zyra&Zac don't get that many skins,zacs model is a nightmare when it comes to skins and zyra has extra models for all her abilities)

-If said champ gets a big rework or not(thats why Yorick,Taric,etc.don't get any skins,because they get a large VU anyway)

-If Riot has an idea they really want to add as a skin,they'll do it regardless of the above factors,sometimes a champ fits too well for an event or skinline,that they add a skin even if it goes against the above guidelines(thats why ekko&Rek'sai got new skins so fast,thats why Dianas second skin took so long)

Assassin Kassadin: 4 skins Katarina: 8 skins Fighter Olaf: 4 skins Riven: 5 skins Mage Swain: 3 skins Syndra: 4 skins Support Taric: 3 skins (even though) Sona: 6 skins Tank Sion: 4 skins Jarvan IV: 6 skins Marksman Urgot: 3 skins Vayne: 6 skins

I think that popularity does hold some standards. I would think older champions would have either as much or more than newer ones but just look...

Assassins Katarinas spell effects are pretty simple and rarely need any big changes(or any changes at all),also she is one of the most iconic champs in the game,appearing regularly in artworks,cinematics etc.(ryze has also a lot of skins for that reason,despite the fact that he isn't even played that often) Kassadin has an outdated model(the current updated one was made by a rioter in his/her freetime,meaning its still up to change),making new skins for him risky(they might have to redo them once he gets a proper update) and his animations also require more work(if the skin comes with new animations).

Fighter Olaf had some rework issues,so it wouldn't surprise me if they weren't sure if one of his skills doesn't have to be replaced(in which case skins would be again rather risky),also a difference of only 1 skin can be explained by riot doing skins also based around what kind of ideas they get(the last point I mentioned).

Mage Again only one skin difference and Swain also needs more work on his model,considering that you need to make extra models for his bird and his raven form(he might be also planned for a VU/gameplay rework,so skins might not be that much of a high priority for him)

Support Taric is getting a full relaunch,he doesn't get any skins until its finished.And sona isn't even played that often.

Tank Sion got a full relaunch and his kit was a mess before it,which made it clear that he should get an update before he gets any skins.

Marksman Again urgot is going to get a full relaunch and had severe gameplay issues,so it was clear that doesn't get any skins until those are finished

Okay; so, Katarina got particles even though her spells are straight forward, Kassadin doesn't have any particle changes to any of his skins even though he could. And even if they changed his particles, what of it as it would just be the sphere, his E, and maybe his R but other than that, its not hard as they've done it to Malzahar with his winter skin.

Olaf is way easier than Riven, as Olaf throws a axe, doesn't need a change to his W or E and definitely no change to his R unless they wanted to. Riven though, has to have a completely remodeled sword and a new slash for her R.

Can't put much of a argument with the Swain one, but I still would like one none the less as Malzahar and Vladimir are in the same boat as he is and they got skins.

I'm referring to before his planned relaunch as Sona was there almost as long as he was and she still got way more.

Urgot's relaunch could be years away compared to how their going along with Poppy's and Taric's. A new skin won't hurt unless he's planed for next year.

Overall I think you have a point,in the past they really did seem to favor certain champs,however I think it has more to do with being iconic to the game as a whole,I mean Kata is pretty much one of the most iconic champs(probably only beaten by ryze). However I'd still say that nowadays popularity doesn't matter that much anymore.I mean Skarner got 2 skins quick after each other,more or less because they neglected him originally.

However champs who are on the rework list rarely get skins even if the rework is still years away. I mean yorick isn't even in the free week rotations anymore because he is going to get a major rework.The last time he was in the free week was back in Season 2,meaning that they knew already that he is in the need of a full rework back in season 3,so yeah they knew already in season 3 that he won't get any skins til his rework anymore...

Which is also stupid. Poppy and Taric are still in free rotation even if they are scheduled for a major rework. Poppy is more like Yorick where she has a ultra powerful ultimate that makes her invincible to others and deals bonus damage to the target, Yorick just summons pets for a short while, and though its not the funnest thing to play against, I'd still put him in free just because he is a champ some never get to try and would need 4800 to get to.

Actually Poppy wasn't in the free rotation anymore since season 2,she got excluded from it just like Yorick(also tristana&alistar are excluded from the free rotation,but thats because you can get them for free)

Taric is probably more a case of "his kit is boring and his model is outdated,but otherwise he is ok"

I can't imagine how smoke-like spells would fit Brand, maybe steam would fit better. A steam fountain could come out from the ground when using W, i cannot imagine what his Ulti and Q would be like..

A lot of those champions have many skins. The Corki one isn't accurate either. I think there are a few other's on the list that probably are incorrect too.

Most champions here meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Had a skin in late 2014 (not even a year of them being released). Examples include Kog'Maw, Wukong and Malzahar.
  • Have at least 5 skins (including base). Examples include: Gragas, Pantheon and Alistar.
  • Have a skin which is of high quality and mass appeal, meaning that the champion does not need any more skins. Examples include Hecarim, Rumble and Shyvana.
  • Had a visual update. Examples include Tristana, Heimerdinger and Sion. Especially Sion, who had an entire relaunch, the biggest update for a single champion so far. With all that in mind, few of these champions require a new skin, and most who do are getting visual updates, so they might not get skins for a long time, even after their updates. I think this list should have been narrowed down to champs who haven't had skins since 2013. No champion needs one skin every year. Also, you missed out Karthus, Kha'Zix and Yasuo, all of whose latest skins were released in 2014.
