Hello everyone and welcome once again to this month's Community Concept Open Stage. In this contest I ask for any and all champion concepts posted in this month of October and run it by a temporarily anonymous panel of your peers! If you're interested at all, read on! I've detailed everything from a-z.

Prizes

  • Entry into a Hall of fame post that will remain updated as long as the CCOS runs (eventually it will happen I promise)
  • Top 5 concepts will be highlighted and praised in the results announcement
  • Top concept will get a custom .gif file of a fancy shiny medal to 'pin' on their concept
  • ALL entries will have a score associated with their concept in the scoring categories as well as a good chance at feedback and critiques
  • ALL entries will be referenced in the CCOS Archive to be viewed later

Entry requirements

  • ONE entry per player
  • Concept Entry must be posted this month. As in this month of October, 2015.
  • No WIP concepts or re-posts please. This contest is here to encourage new content. You may be disqualified.
  • Concept Entry must be YOURS. If the linked concept’s author and your name are different your entry will be disqualified.
  • Entries will be taken from now until I post a “contest closed” thread on the 30th at noon EST.
  • All entries must have a LORE and a KIT section to be considered a concept. More is needed to remain competitive, but to be entered you need at least that.
  • The first 30 entries will be taken. Any posts above that limit will not be entered.
  • Entrants can be disqualified based on rude behavior towards other entrants/judges (negative feedback is fine!), disregard of the Universal Forum Rules (porn is NOT a legitimate reference image) or other major problems.

#How to Enter

  1. Post your concept normally within the Skin & Champion Concepts Board, if it's not already posted.

  2. Reply to THIS POST with a link to Step 1

  3. Wait for me to reply with "Entry Confirmed!". If it takes more than a day for me to reply I may have missed you, don't hesitate to remind me!

  4. Watch the "Current Entrants" List above and double check you're up there, if you are you're in!

Remember: There is max of THIRTY slots.

#Timeline

  • October 24th - October CCOS entries start
  • October 31st - Entries no longer taken, judging begins
  • November 14th - Judging stops, buffer time begins
  • November 17th - Results announced

#Scoring

Entries will be scored based on five categories with the following weighting.

(Max) Category

(25) Lore

(25) Kit

(20) Originality

(20) Effort

(10) Bonus --------------------------------------- (100) Total per judge

#Bonus Category: Share the love

It's back again! A few people really liked the idea if inter-mingling the entrants and this also gets more feedback to everyone, so it's a win-win!

What you do is just find another entrant on the list (at the top of this post just by the way) and give them some critiquing! Anything from a random idea to a full breakdown, help out someone else this month by leaving a comment on their post.

To be eligible just click ‘permalink on your submitted comment and then copy+paste the resulting URL into your own post under “CCOS Bonus”. It makes it easier for the judges to find it.

But I've never made a concept before....

Never fear the Sir is here! I’ve made a Introduction to Champion Concepts post just for you! New conceptors are not only welcome but encouraged to participate! I will be happy to take questions about making a champion concept as well. Getting new conceptors into the scene with confidence behind their concept is a huge motive behind this event! :D

I have a WIP concept...

Feel free to post and work on your concept as much as you want. It's not technically entered until you provide the link to the entries thread. Just make sure you're not the 61st entry and the original post is within the month!

I don't have a concept and I don't have time to judge. But I want to help!

That. Is. Awesome. The single best way for you to help me, the other judges and the entrants is to give feedback! Negative, positive, just make sure it's constructive and the author can use it effectively if they so choose. In fact if you want some tips on giving feedback to Champion Concepts check out Jaykoboy's awesome How-to guide here.

Can I change my concept after entry?

As encouraging feedback and concept participation is a major motive behind this contest, I encourage iterating on a concept, HOWEVER you have to be able to argue it's still the same champion, no major changes or it will have to count as a new entry with your previous entry being disregarded. Remember: your entry doesn't start until you provide the link here, If you want feedback before entering I advise to simply post normally and provide the link when you feel you're ready.

Can I change my concept after judging starts?

Yes, but there's a catch. I do not micromanage the judges, I let them peruse the entries at their own pace in their own order, so I can not guarantee your changes will be seen by every judge. If you do make changes that late in the game you have to be prepared for a score that does not accurately reflect your end-all concept.

Support the CCOS!

Some of you have been doing this already, but if you'd like to support the CCOS and get more people each month provide a link to this post on your entry so others can find it easier. This lets the CCOS have more visibility without me spamming reminders and generally getting on everyone's nerves. This is by no means a requirement, but I am appreciative of anyone who does help out!

Since I cannot decide which one to enter in this month I would like to post two of mine and ask for peoples opinions on which to enter. Please let me know either on the champion concept itself or here (if that is ok with Sir ArmaMulum of course).

They are Zoth, the Displaced Veteran (he is tied in with my previous concept: Valen, the Displaced Professional. I have two-three more concepts within that theme centered on an event of sorts) and the second one is Levtiticus, the Awoken (He was a quick champion concept based on several ideas.)

Please let me know which one you all think I should enter. It would be much appreciated. Thank you. ^_^

Last month I had some issues with your judges. I submitted this champion expecting some form of written input as to how to improve the champion constructive criticism which is what these contests are about and out of the 3 judges only one actually reviewed my champion. Well in words anyways the others just slapped numbers. Maybe the judges should be required to put at least 10 words of input into the champion maybe even 3 sentences. This should be a requirement so people like me do not feel jipped. Now I know I cannot resubmit frost but something must be done to remedy this problem. All I want is input and I feel cheated. Sir it is your job as host to step in in these situations and try to come up with solutions. I know you are just host but please. I got like a whole 30 words of input and some people only had one word of input. If I may quote one judge in their review of a champ last month and that was "weird" come on now this should not be allowed.

I understand and apologize for that issue. To be frank that was an isolated case, most judges are an 'all or nothing' when it comes to feedback and this month 2 of the 3 ran out of steam halfway through. That's the first time it's happened honestly. I agree with you that one of the judges was particularly....ah....brief with their feedback but it just goes to show I copy and paste their exact feedback verbatum. Bearly Leah actually came by the results post and followed up on concepts that she skipped when asked.

At the end of the day however it comes down to a question of enforcement, and as I am sure you're aware it's hard enough to find judges willing to help out with something like this. Assuming an hour per entry (which can easily be longer) I am asking multiple people for 30+ hours of their time within a span of 2 weeks with little to no compensation. While I do nag currently, the only method of enforcement I have at my disposal is dropping a judge off the results. That's just the nature of volunteering, I have to work with what I've got. And if I start dropping judges because they haven't put some feedback on a concept by specific deadlines then there will be simply be months with one or no judges.

And yes, that does screw over people sometimes when it comes to the concepting communities greatest currency: feedback. Unfortunately I see it as a matter of "some or none" for the CCOS as a whole. I really am sorry you and a few others got blank comments on the specific input, but others did, and it just comes down to helping the most people I feel I can every month.

I know it is not normally accepted but I do feel it is disserving considering the circumstances or at least be able to be reviewed by those who do participate. The "ran out of steam" also shows in the scores those people submitted. The "ran out of steam" also shows in the scores those people submitted. It is obvious they were tired and just trying to get through it but scores were also effected because they did not spend the time necessary to properly access the champion in full.

I will actually confirm the opposite there. I keep an eye on the judges throughout the judging period periodically and all three judges followed the advice I gave them and tackled scores first and then went back and gave feedback. I think you may be looking for correlations that don't exist VBunnie, be careful there.

no but the two are related simply because as you go farther down the list the scores slowly decrease. look at the list. Stats dont lie

And there was a score peak in the lower half of the list the month before that. I can't take that and say that the judges must have been more awake then. Correlation =/= causation my friend. I can again tell you that for the majority of the entries they entered scores first and then after they were all scored went back and started giving feedback as per my recommendation. That's what I saw as I checked on their sheets during the judging time.

Hello i read your champion concept creation guide and was wondering if you could help me out. Like i just need out to get the lore to fit exactly in right and iron it out to be more readable,And i wish i could draw but i can describe and or use refs as vibes to help picture what my champ is suppose to like. And that i suck at the whole numbers thing and describing abilites by typing only using my voice which is tough for me.

Vivian is a long range mage who rewards precision and accuracy above all else. The intention is that she is supposed to be insanely hard to play optimally, but if you do she is very rewarding and she becomes extremely powerful in the right hands.

It was one of the first things asked for when the Boards first came out as the "Community Platform Beta". Made a few requests myself over the last few years. Numerous "We're on it!" responses, but nothing to show for it yet.

Made that month, BUT a fun little loop hole is that no one will blame you if you link your other concepts in the new concept's post. A "Other concepts by me" section if you will. I do it all the time.

you made zed too strong, yet again, he literally requires no skill to win most match-ups, i dodge 9/10 q's and 10/10 slashes then he just switches to his shadow once he's 6 ult's hits ignite flashes onto you after u flash right after his ult ends and still gets enough dmg to push you out of lane on hitting one q an 1-2 auto attacks due to his great positioning from mimic flashing your flash, then just safely reverts back to his shadow taking only one tower shot if any. because of the huge imbalance, he buys at 6 and just repeats his low cd ult to get you to around half then ignite is up for him to do the same thing but now he has brutalizer and finishes most opponents who are not playing defensive and even ones that r he pushes out of lane making them useless even with teleport to get right back into the lane to hold pressure. because he has no mana he's full energy halfway down to his first roam or sits in lane not needing a blue buff to spam his ridiculously safe rotation.
