An aegis new aura, % bonus aoe magic damage reduction

What if we rework aegis into an magic aoe counter item. Mostly designed to deal against lategame AOE magic damage:

UNIQUE – LEGION: Nearby allied units gain 10% bonus aoe magic damage reduction. (1100 range)

Bonus aoe magic is the damage value gained from the AP ratio of AOE abilities. I give an example:

#Orianna Command: Shockwave

  • MAGIC DAMAGE: 150 / 225 / 300 (+ 70% AP)
  • For this example she has 3 point in her ability (= 300 base magic damage)
  • For this example she has 300 ability power (= 210 magic damage)
  • The new aegis would reduce the magic damage from the AP ratio with 10% (so that 210 magic damage becomes 189 magic damage)
    • So oriana's ult would deal 21 damage less magic damage to her enemies before magic penetration & resistances has been aplied.

#Other

To make it more intressting we could let things like item 3068 count as bonus AOE so the damage reduction would aply as well.

Thoughts?

Why not just keep the magic resistance boost that works similar to that if not better? O.o because then it works on base damage and ratio. There are a lot of bugs when stuff like that comes rolling around too.

As for the AOE specified spells..... while the Aegis, Locket, and Banner all are best for reducing AOE damage, that makes it completely useless apart from the actives. Tanks get it for the magic resistance bump and the passives. If you take out the magic resist, it will most surely end up being used VERY situationally if even that.

Good idea to try and make it more interesting, but I think that would compromise its effectiveness rather than help it along.
