#POLL AP/AR upgrade http://goo.gl/ryyf6H

#The new buildline

  • item 2049 (800) + item 3211 (1200) + 400 = Spectre's Sightstone (2400 gold)
  • item 2049 (800) + item 3010 (1200) + 400 = Catalyst Sightstone (2400 gold)
  • item 2049 (800) + item 3191 (1200) + 400 = Seeker's Sightstone (2400 gold)

#Changes:

  • Tier 2 Sightstones will now hold 6 charges & regenerates a ward charge on assist (charges can't overcap)
  • Sightstone is now green: http://i.imgur.com/aYSFMd7.png
  • (A level requirement to upgrade it to tier 2) vote here & here.

#http://i.imgur.com/9vU3Mlc.png Spectre's Sightstone

  • +400 Health
  • +40 Magic Resistance

Unique Passive: Grants 200% base health regeneration for 10 seconds after taking damage from an enemy champion.

#http://i.imgur.com/gWU0LWZ.png Catalyst Sightstone

  • +400 Health
  • +400 Mana

Unique Passive: On kill/assist, restores 150 health and 200 mana over 8 seconds (effect is stackable).

#http://i.imgur.com/aKSYNPf.png Seeker's Sightstone

  • +200 Health
  • +45 Armor
  • +45 Ability Power

Unique Passive: On kill/assist grants 2 bonus armor and ability power. This bonus stacks up to 10 times.

#Change Logs

  • Spectre's Sightstone Unique Passive reduced to 200% health regeneration (from 250%)
  • Seeker's Sightstone stats reduced to 200 HP/45 AR/45 AP (from 200 HP/50 AR/50 AP)

#Old ideas

item 2049 + item 3057 + 400

UNIQUE Passive - Spellblade: After using an ability, the next basic attack deals bonus physical damage equal to 100% base Attack Damage on hit & reveals him for 1.5 seconds (1.5 second cooldown).

(Unique Passives with the same name don't stack.) (Reveal doesn't work on stealth)

item 2049 + item 3801 + item 1031 + 250

item 2049 + item 3113 + item 1004 + 400 = 2230

UNIQUE Passive: +5% Movement Speed (increase to +10% while out of combat)

#Alternative Suggestions: Ethereal Sightstone

item 2049 + item 3113 + item 1029 + 450 = 2400 gold (to replace seekers)

  • +200 Health
  • +40 Ability Power
  • +40 Armor

UNIQUE Passive: +6% Movement Speed (increase to +12% while out of combat)

Balance wise, these would need a lot of work (they are too cost efficient, since they give a ton of free gold through wards), but other than that, I'd like these for upgraded versions of sightstone.

The numbers can always be tweaked offcourse.

Yeah, I know, that is why I said outside of numbers, I really like these.

I like the idea of giving Sightstone slot some additional stat weight.

I think something like the enchants they have for jungler items would be perfect.

They already said they won't do that though. The price to pay for map control is an item slot.

Partholonian5 votes

That is some messed up game design. The whole team gains map control, but only one person pays the item slot (and the gold), and we know who that is going to be.

But hey, at least it's not the least wanted role anymore... thanks to the hardmode jungle, which is even more hated.

Slushi Simcambi3 votes

Jungle sucks right now :(

It's super hard and you are always behind in EXP no matter how efficient you are at clearing, plus with Machete taking up a slot your itemization sorta takes an early hit with only the benefit of better clear (which as I mentioned is useless no matter what because you are so far behind everyone else in XP and oftentimes Gold).

Only one type of Jungler is viable (tanky bruisers), with a few exceptions such as easy to counter-jungle Fiddle and Shaco, but Tanky Bruisers are easily the best. Pure Tanks get screwed over.

And Raptors are ruthless for no reason.

So yeah.

Jungling sucks, might go back to supporting.

It would only change visualy. So not really a problem.

RyzeSinged would build #2 every game and be ridiculous

Other 2 seem fine

Proxy Singed would certainly become a heck of a lot easier with free wards for the enemy jungle.

CoolKnightST1 votes

{quoted}

Not really:

Singed will usualy start item 2041 into item 3070. After all this he litterly has no combat stats yet. So if he wants to deal damage on that point going item 2049 is no option unless he wants to become ineffective towards the midgame. So the Catalyst Sightstone route will be most unlikely. Unless he decide to go for it while falling behind in a item 3027 rush. What's actualy a more healthy alternative than a negative one in that situation.

Ryze is a similar story. If he falls behind in the early game for some reason while building item 3027. He can go for that Catalyst Sightstone. But like I said before it will cost him a lot of his damage output and make him more team oriënted than ever before.

This is an awesome idea! It's very frustrating when your support refuses to buy a sightstone and now it gives them more incentive to do so. This also will allow champs other than supports or lee sin to buy it without feeling like they wasted an item slot.

Raw stats looks cool and I actualy was thinking about setting 4 instead of 3 sightstones:

  • item 2049 + item 3801 + item 1031 + 250
  • item 2049 + item 3057 + 400

But in the end I decide to keep it with

item 2049 + item 3191 instead

i like the seeker sightstone idea too ^^

My only wories about seeker's sightstone is that it could become to snowbally. Since it charge with kill/assist you want to get it as soon as possible. Also a item that provides both hp, armor and ability power has the potentionaly to become really strong. Maybe I have to reduce the stats back to to 200 HP/45 AP/45 AR or something and/or relook into the passive.

An alternative idea was item 2049 + item 3057

UNIQUE Passive - Spellblade: After using an ability, the next basic attack deals bonus physical damage equal to 100% base Attack Damage on hit & reveals him for 1.5 seconds (doesn't work on stealth) (1.5 second cooldown).

well idk i just like the idea of an ap armor with wardson support ap it was a really good idea but maybe you could just buy this: item 1052 +item 1029 +item 2049 = your seekers sightstone (but with a diferent name)

Seeker's is build out item 1052 + item 1029. The passive from seekers is maybe not that support friendly. But that didn't stop them to buy it anyway. It's maybe even a good thing. It would prevent supports on rushing it and ballance out on supports that shouldn't go for it in the first place. I have no problems with raw stats but that shouldn't be the main priority for them in the first place.

If you want something like this why not simply do:

item 2049 + item 3113 + item 1029 + 400 = 2350 gold

sungold1 votes

item 2049 + item 3113 + item 1029 + 400 = 2350 gold it's not a bad idea at all too gives ap armor wards and ms too think

Well if it becomes popular I might make a poll for it. But carefull guys, their are a lot of seeker's lovers out their ;)

maybe make a poll to chose whats the better way to built that item

I think I will have to add an external poll to it. The option to add a poll is not available anymore.

good luck if you do that give me a link ^^on this comment reply ^^

Not only Supports would buy these, you know. Lee Sin would dominate with the 250% base Health Regen (which would be 48/5secs at level 18).
And overall they seem a bit unbalanced. I love the idea of a better Sightstone system, but I don't think stat sticks will do the trick, especially since Supports don't need stats at much as others do.

Supports benefit just fine from stats, they're just used to being second-class citizens who don't get to have real builds.

It used to be even worse, but that's not much of an excuse for not making it better.

Stephenizgod2 votes

They are a little unbalanced and #2 seems like it would be best to me at least. I feel like they should be support specific, like only those who build one of the 3 support items can get them. That way supports have items other then Locket and Mikaels that they are forced into on every support every game. At least this way their Sightstone can be up to them...

Mandang02 votes

I'd be really reluctant to add snowball mechanics to supports. At worst, you have added strife in bottom lane with support now blaming their weak items on the rest of their team. At best, it's just another way for Riot to push the game towards easy-kill supports (welcome back Annie/Leona!)

I would appreciate an incentive to upgrade sightstone, though.

Partholonian2 votes

50 AP for 3/4 the price of a deathcap is a snowball mechanic?

PickleBabah2 votes

Yes, thank you. Now it doesn't feel like Sightstone feels incomplete because of how mediocre the stats are.

Drakzul2 votes

Seekers sightstone gives 70 armor, 70 ap, 200 health AND its a sights tone? For only 2400g... That's overloaded with stats. Apc's could actually build this item... No thanks.

JustBoneBrook2 votes

Seeker's Sightstone look op insteed of the other (50 armor / 50 ap VS 40 magic ressist?) feel really good for the same prize

BUT YAH PLZ NEW PATH for that Item i hate to buy just flat ward and some low hp.

Bad news they are purposefully not going to do anything with sight stone:

RiotXypherous post from reddit:

There's a (fairly unpopular, admittedly) reason why Ruby Sightstone is such an underwhelming upgrade. We want you to get cooler items rather than feel like you have to dump yet ANOTHER 800 gold into vision on top of the 800 you already have sunk into it. Linearly upgrading Ruby Sightstone to improve your vision capabilities strips out a lot of customization you could have on your own character for items that are unique or special for your role. There's an end-game slot inefficiency thing that needs to be solved absolutely that does come up (more often as game length goes up) but the main reason why Ruby is underwhelming is by intent - it absolutely sucks to be forced into delaying your build by having to purchase 3k of 'required' items to function in your role while you have a limited income stream to begin with. (Highly efficient upgrades here makes it more likely that it'll be main on another type of character - but that's secondary to this particular discussion.) We limit the total amount of gold you can invest into vision pretty heavily to force you into buying items that do things for your character and force the vision investment to be distributed more evenly across the team. I get that some people want the option of heavily investing into vision - if this were possible without becoming mandatory, we would do so - but unfortunately - the optimal way to play when someone can invest all their income into vision is to force that character to invest all their income into vision - depriving most other possibilities in terms of purchases. Essentially, if you ever feel like you have to upgrade Ruby Sightstone, that's another mandatory expense that we're basically forcing support players to pay over all the other items that would make their own character function better. Still want to solve the end game slot capacity thing as that'll come up more and more though. I get your frustration here in that it's underwhelming - but it's serving the primary intent of 'it's the last thing you buy so you don't feel bad about having a sub

For this reason I add the poll to for adding an level requirement to the tier 2 upgrade. He describes the exact problem the sightstone has right now:

  • The tier 2 upgrade shouldn't be a priority upgrade
  • Vision vs Gold can be snowbally => So it's not a good idea to further expand the vision game on this item
  • He wants to further expand the combat stats from the item => An level requirement could solve part of the early pressure from getting it.

He want to solve the game slot capacity issue but unless they transfor their trinket into a sightstone (what would lose you the red trinket) or include another item slot. This is not going to happen. The main issue right now is that the sightstone can't replace a combat effeciënt item in the lategame. That's why I think a level requirement is the way to solve this issue without having to compleetly remove the sightstone from the game.

Krinu1 votes

Suggestion: "On assist" rather than "on kill or assist."

Partholonian2 votes

No thanks. Accidentally last hitting a champion can be awkward enough without also punishing your items. And the last thing we need is any appearance of Riot approving the "you got the kill, you're a bad support" mentality.

aaronconlin1 votes

Why not just have different upgrades for item 2045 ?

item 2045 + item 3113 +400 Health +30 Ability Power

UNIQUE Passive: +5% Movement Speed UNIQUE Passive - Ward Refresh: Holds 3 charges and refills upon visiting the shop. UNIQUE Active - Wisp: Consumes a charge to place a Wisp that patrols and reveals an area for 3 minutes. A player may only have one Wisp on the map at one time.

item 2045 + item 3067 item 2045 + item 3114

Orisi3 votes

A little part of me likes this even more. Makes the item less gold efficient, gives me a reason to go deeper into a ruby sightstone which i've not done in forever. I like it.

aaronconlin1 votes

Yeah, it's not efficient but it would allow "Strategic Diversity" for supports depending on their champion and play style. I couldn't think of something unique for the other two off the top of my head though

CoolKnightST1 votes

I have another idea:

What if whe add an level requirement on upgrading the sightstone to tier 2. Let's say level 14 or something. This could solve one of issue's that is mentioned in this topic: http://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/2vkmd2/ruby_sightstone_should_recharge_wards_over_time/coj0ark.

FantasySniper1 votes

I question even using advanced items because of their multiple stat obligations, but these are good ideas.

VexedAlgidesNA1 votes

I mean, I like the concept but how would you balance these with champions like Lee Sin and Jax who can just ward jump their way out of sticky situations? The mobility itself is quite nice and because the health that comes with the sighstones they´re not exactly easy to kill. Now imagine a Lee Sin or Jax who doesn´t need to buy magic resist item because he has the spectre´s sightstone: Their survibability just increased a lot and on top of that they have 6 wards to work around.

Althought I do admit this idea sounds nice for supports it is a bit too complete of an item for it to be balanced imo. Interesting idea nontheless.
