item 2053item 3024 Obsidian Shard (Can't be bought with Zz'Rot Portal)

  • Cost: 2700 Gold
  • Recipe: Raptor Cloak + Glacial Shroud + 500 Gold
  • 65 Armor
  • 300 Mana
  • 10% Cooldown Reduction
  • 125% base Health Regen
  • UNIQUE Passive - Point Runner: Builds up to +20% Movement Speed over 2 seconds when near turrets, fallen turrets, or Void Gates.
  • UNIQUE Passive - Dark Portal: Grants Improved Recall when out of combat with enemy champions for 5 seconds, reducing Recall's channel time by 4 seconds. A succesful recall restores 50% maximum Health and Mana and grants +50% Movement Speed for 8 seconds.

-Found in the depths of the Howling Abyss, the obsidian shard reflects purple light.

So, Ohmwrecker is an extremely niche item. If Zz'Rot Portal didn't exist I am sure it would be bought more often. The active sounds great on paper and it has mobility, Resistances, Health, and sustain all in one item. However, the active falls short in most situations, loses worth in the long run and Zz' Rot is just better in all other situations. So I suggest Obsidian Shard as an alternative.

Obsidian Shard basically grants you Baron's Recall and helps out with all your recall needs: to restock on Mana, defend against super minions, Tryndamere or Udyr, or even destroy an enemy Zz'Rot Portal. With the extra mobility you can get back to your team before anything bad can happen, or you can push out a minion wave and teleport to them instead. On the flipside, you could buy it on champions like Tryndamere or Nasus to split-push while your team defends. After taking the enemy's tower or inhib you can then get back faster to help them without having to use Teleport.
The item would be popular on Top Laners, I'm sure.

It offers Mana instead of Health in order to not rival Deadman's Plate and/or any other Health-Armor items. It can also be bought as a Frozen Heart replacement against enemy teams with little basic attack reliance or against long ranged Marksmen like Tristana or Caitlyn. The extra Movement Speed near towers helps you catch up to them. With Deadman's Plate or Randuin's you can then slow them and shut them down.

Lorewise, it's basically just a defect Zz'Rot Portal that someone mistook for obsidian glass. The defect portal no longer connects to the Void to let in Voidlings but rather connects to the nearest portal on the Runeterran plane -- the Fountain.

So, what do you think?

Might be slightly OP but I kind of like it. Right now nothing in the 10% CDR category feels good to build on Nasuus hence why most of us take the 10% CDR in the runes and go for IBG and SV as core. This item would allow tanky top laners a strong CDR pick who prefer to add more defenses to their rune page.

Also typically when you recall you would be out of combat anyways and 5 seconds isn't very long seeing how the recall itself only takes 8 seconds. So you would hit the cap mid recall and it would still shave off 3 seconds. I think out of combat for 15 or 20 seconds would make it less OP. It also might help to make it melee only item b/c this would give me nightmares watching and AP mage or ADC who was fed have this.

Well the out of battle mechanic should help with that anyways if you can apply damage it stops the normal recall and would reset the timer for the passive on the item. I would say if they are dealing damage or taking damage then it restarts the timer before they can use the recall feature. 15-20 sec might be too harsh if it's purpose is to help siege and split push. Maybe 10 sec cool down out of combat. IDK I am not the best at numbers but I actually kind of like the item idea.
