You know how in horror movies there's always a bird sitting somewhere watching you?

Illâoi Evê Siôn··118 votes·4,350 views

In the distant future, it would be cool if Swain or Fiddlesticks could get such a bird. It could be a passive that roams the map, sits on walls, and reveals enemies. You can attack it to shoo it away, but they'll know where you are and they'll be coming for you.

(In other words, vision control would be a great addition to a horror scarecrow's/general's kit)

Edit: With skins, the birds could look differently. Imagine balloon birds watching you 3spooky5me. Edit2: On second thought, balloon animals sitting on walls watching you does sound kind of spooky.

I like this too much and will be sad when it doesn't happen now ugh

This would be great on fiddle considering he is much more vision-oriented and also a jungler.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

It might be another reason to pick him. E.g. if the enemies have Eve and you're afraid of where she'll pop up you can pick Fiddle to get a little more map control.

Skins Project1 votes

.-. wards don't show EVE.

Steelflame2 votes

Yes. But if she does anything in her jungle related to farming mobs she'll show, giving everyone an idea where she may go next.

The core to warding out Eve is deep wards that will catch her while she isn't stealthed, not close wards that show someone is already there.

Could always just give the bird true sight, it is random where the bird will be so it might as well be powerful vision.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

I don't think it would be truly random. It would be a lot like plants with spawn spots and rotations. You shoo the bird away from point A so after a small cooldown it flies to point B or C. These points should probably overlook passages and not camps, like the passage between Blue wall and Wolves wall, so Junglers have a way of avoiding them. It would probably only reveal in one direction in a cone, too, so you can attack it from behind without revealing yourself. Counterplay and reliability are both important with such a passive. Fiddlesticks/Swain could get better points or more birds depending on their level.

Would they get points in their own Jungle, though? How about overlooking brush or looking at the river or the pits? Maybe late into the game?

Use kindred's passive mechanic to choose from select locations. Options are: looking into red/blue buff, looking into baron/dragon pit, Enemy's spawn turret, or patrolling your half of the jungle (Similar to wolves' old smite buff).

Vision would still be limited so you can sneak up on it. Shooing away requires 1 AA, 2 if it can see you. Patrol option bounces between camps, but has a small vision radius (less than champion vision) so opponents can see it coming and hide.

180 second cooldown. Reduced by 60 seconds if shooed away.

(There are 5 options because Kindred's passive has 5 slots.)

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

I don't think it should be able to spy on camps. That's too powerful.

Ariel the Cruel1 votes

Well, there's really only 4 options for this.

  1. Camps - screw jungler early
  2. High traffic areas - screw teams mid-game, still hurts junglers early
  3. Low traffic areas - not particularly useful
  4. Pure defensive options (only targets your half of the map)

or actually, 5. Just for fun:

  • Target a champion, the bird then searches them out and reveals them for 3 seconds. 300/240/180/120 second cooldown - can't be shooed away. Not affected by CDR.

You can have a little bit of everything (2,3,4) if the effect grows more powerful throughout the game.

I feel it would play towards Swain's character more because he DOES NOT feel like a tactical general, cause he isn't, mister face tank himself is swain. But gameplay wise it would work better for fiddlesticks.

If they ever reworked swain, i'd love this as a part of his passive though, thematics and gameplay would open up so much more for him in a rework with this.

Muzét2 votes

In fact it could work for both of them. Fiddle cause he seems to have a control over them (some of them?) And Swain got the sweetest bird: Beatrice.

OyddAWqJ5r13 votes

Could even be just aesthetic for Fiddles. Like low health enemies start seeing ravens sitting atop nearby trees and walls.

Thoroughly spooky

Silmaril3 votes

Yeah, it doesn't really need to have an effect (and, if I'm understanding the proposal correctly, having it be like a super Kalista W for free as a passive would be an unnecessarily massive buff to either champ as it is), it would be insanely awesome just as a purely visual effect .

As a nice bonus, having it be purely visual would allow it fall under visual effects that get turned off on low settings for those unlucky enough to have to play on toasters.

Ariel the Cruel3 votes

Plot twist: You're vesseled by Illaoi. Hunted by Warwick. And now spooked by Fiddle.

RiP, toasters. And headphone users.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

They did bring it in as just aesthetic, but for Swain! Yay!

His Dinoboy9 votes

ive seen swains bird fly from my fountain to him

Arakadia7 votes

Thats a visual bug that occurs from his ult. I think thats what you mean.

His Dinoboy2 votes

wow really? i thought that was just an animation that happens when swain kills you.

Squidward Dab5 votes

Ohh are u talking about some purple line thing that always travels to the swain's fountain? Yea I see that in all the games I play with a Swain in it

SpecterVonBaren4 votes

That would be a fantastic fid passive.

Illâoi Evê Siôn4 votes

I wouldn't want him to lose his current passive, though, as that's equally terrifying (and useful). Maybe he could gain the bird when he puts a point into his ult?

50000000000000005 votes

Swain passive is just mana regen, so that has room to become more interesting.

ThatKingMonkey1 votes

Swain really needs his current passive though to not always be oom when he is in lane/teamfighting and if they added that it would be even more powerful because he would have a doulbe passive. Its a cool idea, but it would probably fit better on a new champ (or maybe they can use this passive idea for Lissandra lul)

50000000000000005 votes

I get that he's balanced around having that passive (his mana costs are insane if you don't CS), but it's still a fairly boring passive. Veigar also had a mana regen passive that helped him get more stacks in the early game, but it got changed so Veigar can stack his passive faster but run out of mana more easily. Maybe something similar can happen to Swain? Not really sure how this can be implemented, though.

RocketRelm1 votes

I love the idea for the passive, my primary concern is simply that if swain gets such a passive, his kit will be slanted such that he becomes a support. And I think nobody wants that.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

That could be avoided through several means. Like, if the bird could only sit on spots in a radius around Swain and the ones he can reach from Bot Lane aren't all useful in the early game (he could get better points, more birds, and/or a larger radius as he levels up).

SpecterVonBaren2 votes

Change the passive and reduce the mana costs of his basic abilities. Boom.

Sire Hippington3 votes

Would be fitting for swain if they want to actually emprace's his theme as a general and amster tactican rather than the 'giant bird monster' theme, though honestly by now his identity probably is mostly the bird monster, so i'm not sure if focuseing on his intial concept would be fair to his current mains.

Anyway, while a watching bird would be cool and fitting, one always needs to remember how powerfull vision is and that such a feature has to come at a cost, you can't just add it to a kit because it's fun and thematically fitting. So what are you guys willing to give up on fiddle or swain in order to gain a watching bird?

Chembaron Yamada2 votes

Who says giant bird monsters can't be master tacticans? These themes are not exclusive, you know.

Sire Hippington3 votes

They are not exclusive by default, but hard to combine in a balanced way. If you give him to much tactical/strategic tools, his draintank and damage potential will have to suffer for that or he'll become to powerfull.

6Sfool3 votes

I want to see fiddle get some serious depth through some macro. If any champ is meant to be scary it's him, and if he's playing mind games like Leblanc does, he'd be perfect.

I can only remember two movies like that; The Birds by Alfred Hitchcock Birdemic by .... some awesomely hilarious guy

What horror movies are watching that prominently feature birds? I am legitimately interested in the answer.

Illâoi Evê Siôn2 votes

I must confess, I don't watch enough horror movies to be able to give you any examples. But I found a trope page about it, so it must exist, right?

It reminds me of Medivh's trait in heroes of the storm, where instead of mounting he becomes a bird that can fly over walls and cannot be attacked. While he can't attack in that form, it made for an interesting playstyle, as it allowed him to scout the map and find the enemies, which no one else could do ot the lack of wards.

It'd be a pretty cool ability, that probably fits more with fiddlesticks.

Isn't FIddle's passive just freezing up while not moving? (if so, it's a useless af passive)

Skins Project3 votes

Stand still for X Get move speed when you start moving again.

It actually works well with his kit Being that his w & ult both require him to stand still.

Bârd4 votes

Fiddle's passive causes him to gain a burst of movement speed if he holds still for 1.5 seconds.

It's pretty useful, as it will always proc after he channels his ultimate and will usually proc when he stops draining.

The "Freezing" thing is just a silly little thing, like Yi's dance speed scaling with his movement speed or skins with sunglasses taking 1 less damage from Leona passive.

bird that is always watching you

Quinn cuz she will fly across the map and assassinate you like the bird rengar she is.

Horror movies huh? Rengar now has a pet bird, good job. After all who is more of a horror movie antagonist than Rengar.

Illâoi Evê Siôn1 votes

Except that you might actually see an ominous crow sitting on a tree somewhere in a horror movie about a monster Scarecrow, instead of a movie about alien hunters on another planet with sci-fi technology.

Skorch1 votes

Are you telling me aliens dont get alien birds? Thats... Racist?

Illâoi Evê Siôn2 votes

Now I want a Dreadnova Fiddlesticks skin where he's some kind of alien abomination with alien birds.

i'd love if they added this to swains eventual rework. more strategy for the birdman.
