Hey boards! I finished up my concept based on Assualt Marines! Please give me a review, tell me what I can improve or really anything about it.

If there is something you like or do not like about the concept, please tell me!

The artwork is mine, I know it is fairly basic, but I think it gets the idea across

Position: Jungle, Top Role: Bruiser Weapon: Glaive(s)

Lore:

Caerius was once a common man, owning a small farm, with a wife and children. He was a man of little ambition, and even less combat experience, but things changed. His field became the battleground between a detachment of Demacian knights, and a company of Noxian riders.

His home burned, his wife and children gone with the flames, his crops watered with blood. Fury took control of him, and he took up one of the fallen Noxian’s glaives, and killed several of the horseman before the skirmish faded and left him with nothing.

He mourned for three days, ate nothing, did nothing, but lament the loss of his family, and his home. He began wandering from town to town, looking for employment, when he came across an ambitious, mildly insane, rich noble who was looking for mercenaries to go with him to the Plague Jungles. If Caerius had still had anything left, he never would have taken the job, but he signed up, and while the noble continued his mostly vain attempt to gain mercenaries to join him on his quest, he taught himself how to fight.

The day before they left the noble gave each of the five people who joined him a custom-fit set of shining steel armor, and a new weapon of their choice. Caerius only knew the glaive, and so an elegant spear was made for him.

It would have been easy to say that Caerius had a death wish. He wanted only the escape of death, to his suffering ended, but his wish would not come to pass.

As soon as they reached the Jungles, death struck one of the members, torn apart by a feline before being cut down by Caerius’s glaive. Every day, there was another dead, until only Caerius was left.

Caerius survived for several weeks in the jungles alone, slaying many beasts, and learning what he could about the animals by their corpses and how they had tried to bring him down. He grew thinner, and his armor grew battered, and late in the long dark hours of the Plague Jungle's night he came across something he did not expect.

He stumbled upon ruined stone temple, and explored the outside himself, blissfully unaware that he was being watched by something nearby. He made a small shelter near it, and decided to take looks around the area during the days, and getting what sleep he deemed safe at night.

As days passed Caerius felt a call to enter the temple, and as he entered, darkness overcame him, and unconsciousness tugged at his mind, until he fell asleep himself. Sleep gave him visions of his lost family, his wife Mira on the day they meet, and his two sons playing with wooden staffs as if they were swords, and a promise that if he past several tests he would see them again.

The forgotten god would not pass up Caerius. It was a two-fold reason. The god was opportunistic, a broken man came to his temple, and he would be fairly easy to convert, also, he was potential. Their was a burning passion in Caerius that could be used to make people remember him, and so, he tested him.

Caerius awoke far from the room he had fallen asleep in, his glaive next to him, and a beast waiting to enter until he awoke.

A reptilian creature came at him quickly, and as he took up his glaive they whirled about room, before killing it, a strike to the creature's neck. Every creature he defeated, brought out another, each one testing his different attributes, strength to break scales, resilience against attacks, speed, intellect, endurance, every beast increasing his favor with the god and increasing his power for it, until the beast that had been watching him since he entered the area was brought out.

The beast was behemoth, easily the size of a small house, thick scales, beedy crimson eyes, and claws the sides of sword blades. If not Caerius's wish to see his family again, he would been terrified.

The terrible beast was quickly dispatched by the slowly empowering Caerius, than a whisper told him his test was completed, and he fainted. A week passed until, no one knowing what happened to him. When he awoke, he felt strength beyond measure, had gained a single permanent wing was on his back, and his glaive was in his hands, his armor repaired and shining like polished silver.

The whispers were stronger, his new companion; A lost and forgotten god, and he had ascended to become his herald in the world. The creatures of the jungle gave him a wide berth after his tests, and he returned to the civilized world, fighting those who would try to kill him for his belief and professing his Lord's will to any that would listen.

"I have regained all that I have lost and become more. Follow, or stand aside."

Enemies:

Renekton: Animosity

Caerius despises Renekton and his lust for blood, for the most part, he refuses to speak in Renekton's presence, and sees Renekton as nothing better then a devil with nothing to do but fight.

Darius : Hatred

Due to Darius's strong allegiance to Noxian High Command, and his loyalty towards Swain, the effective ruler of Noxus, it is difficult for them to not be at odds. If it wasn't for Darius's allegiance it would be likely that Caerius and Darius would get along well, however the Ascended's lust for vengeance against those who killed his family burn brightly, and while not directly involved, he is seen as someone who could have stopped it by Caerius.

JarvanIV: Displeasure

Caerius, for similar reasons to Darius does not get along with Jarvan, however it goes beyond that. Where many see Demacia as a place of justice, Caerius sees it as a place of hypocrisy, and their common xenophobia does not improve his outlook.

Neutral:

Pantheon: Respected

Caerius has taken a great interest in Pantheon, as in all of the warriors from Mount Targon. He respects their art of war, and even more so their enjoyment of fighting both Demacia and Noxus. It is said that Caerius has found a place to train and better himself among their camps and settlements.

Trundle: Discontent

While being mostly neutral with Trundle, his lust for power and his allegiance to someone he sees as a Tyrant has made them rivals, and while there's no real tension, in disagreements they almost always take opposing sides, simply because they can.

Olaf: Friendly Rivalry(Legolas/Gimli)

Olaf's death wish reminds Caerius of his own from when he had lost everything, and has taken to almost having a Legolas/Gimli friendship going, where they compete for the greater glory. They enjoy each other and more than once been found in the taverns and inns of the Freljord joking and sharing stories.

It is said Caerius has a favor with Sejuani's claim to power in the Freljord because of this.

Friends:

Kayle: Colleague

Kayle and Caerius commonly have been seen together working on various projects and dueling with each other, in addition to getting into friendly debates about what justice truly is, and more commonly debates of faiths.

It is said that Caerius has taken more than a small liking to Kayle and would like a more permanent relationship with her.

Caerius leaps into the air and swoops into the air, his glaive is held tip down, and facing towards the nearest enemy champion, if Renekton, Darius, or Jarvan are the closest enemies he taunts them.

Feathers fly off of his wings when he lands, and the are he lands is blackened with a stylized hawk in the center, silver or gold lights seem to periodically come from the area, this lasts 2 seconds.

Death:

Glaive in his hands, he falls slowly, trying resist the eternal sleep of death, going into a kneel, then trying in vain to rise, and falling forward , the glaive staff remaining raised. As he gets close to respawning, his body slowly seems to be pulled into the air.

Hits enemy with the back of glaive, then stabs in neck/head region.

Champion Kill 2

Lunges forward, driving the glaive through the torso, the ripping glaive from the body.

Speed Above 500

Takes long dashes and periodically takes brief glides with his one wing.

You might want to explain what exactly is Vallax... sounds like an ally or pet or something, but it's mentioned only 4 times, twice in the passive description and once in the E and R descriptions.

Also, the kit seems rather... bland. His passive revovles around auto-attacking, his W is a buff to his AAs and a shield you can't control, his E is a short range targeted taunt and debuff and his R is a bloated team wide aura that doesn't have any clear purpose (Sivir's ult is a good example of an aura ult well done : it has a clear purpose and can be used for a variety of reasons, but they all boil down to ''Gotta go fast''). The only interesting part about is kit, IMO, is the Q, and that's only because of the untargetability, which lets skilled players dodge stuff, but even then it's just a better version of Aatrox's own Q. How do you express skill when playing this champion? What differentiates a good Caerius from a bad one? There seems to be very few answers to those questions to be found in this kit. I'd suggest finding ways to make his kit more interactive.

Ex : He gets more out of his passive when fighting champions. Give him an actual W ability instead of 2 passives that do not change in any way shape or form how he actually fights. Give his R a real purpose instead of ''General buff that everyone should like to a certain degree''.

I also don't really feel a vibe of ''Exalted warrior'' or something from this guy? Is he supposed to feel like a paladin of sorts?

Also, why does he use energy? And why do all the abilities have the same cost? I don't know if you realize this, but your champions will almost never run out of his resource. Energy users regenerate 10 energy per second. At max CDR, with his Q and E on a 9 seconds cooldown each, if he's not attacking anyone, he can spend up to 100 energy every 9 seconds. Basically, he would need to use his Q and E on cooldown for over 3 minutes non-stop to run out of energy. So at this point, why does he have a resource bar? I don't really see why he doesn't use mana tbh.

I Feed Top Lane12/27/2015, 4:54:56 AM2 votes

So you're basically saying that you want a tank that does damage and is rewarded for doing said damage by lowering his cooldowns so he can do even more damage? Why? What role would he fill in the game? Do we need an AA based tank? If so what does he provide to the player?

A constant balance issue due to Riots inability to think about the consequences of new champions is the struggle between kiting and tanking, It's a constant cycle, either tanks do damage, or they don't.

If a tank does damage, ADC's that can kill/kite them come into favor, if the tanks can't do damage, Assasins that can't be kited come into favor. Now let's pretend that this champion DID make it to launch, 1 of 2 things would happen. A: He would be in Xin Zhao's positon, only strong when an item he can abuse comes to favor (Devourer comes to mind, especially considering ASPD junglers are notoriously broken. B: His all numbers kit (Like mundo) means he's only viable when his numbers are higher than everyone elses, and when he gets tuned back down, his mechanical skill is so low, and leaves so little room for error, that he needs to be insanely weak for him to not be overpowered, (Think TF, Voli, Old poppy, any kit that has no real counterplay or mechanics, thus if he gets to you, either you die or you kill them, but there's rarely a middle ground)

Hey! ^_^ Happy New Year! And here are my thoughts on Caderius, the Ascendant!

Lore: It is an interesting concept, a broken man trying to find purpose and somehow becoming the herald of a forgotten god. But there are a few holes in this this ship. One of the biggest things that bothered me was there really isn't anything about Caderius's forgotten god in his dialogue or anything really. We aren't told what this god stands for, why he made Caderius its herald, or any connection between Caderius and it. Considering this is where Caderius got his powers from and is the force that he fights for it would be cool to understand what this entity wants. Also what does Caderius feel about becoming its herald? Why did he agree to becoming it herald? Did it promise to bring back his family? Pretty much I think you should expand Caderius's relationship with his patron god and how each of them benefit one another. I also had a hard time understanding how he became so well war

Also i had a hard time understanding his relationships or really what exactly he's fighting for...... He hates both Darius/Noxus, Jarvan/Demacia, and Renekton. I'm assuming Renekton is because he's a rabid monster but because his goal is so vague I had a hard time pinpointing why he hates Darius and Jarvan. Both are warriors who thrive in battle and seem to be similar to Caerius and their quotes actually do remind me of Caerius's so I was a bit confused about that.

Energy: I don't really think energy really impacts this champions kit at all:/ To my knowledge energy acts as a limit so certain champs cannot spam their short cooldown abilities in a short period of time. Like think of Lee Sin if he wants to continue using his abilities he must AA between every spell of Akali to stop her from spamming her E constantly. I don't know if this is the best resource for Caderius as his cooldowns even with his passive tend to be pretty high so being capped by energy really has no effect.

Passive: I'm not sure but he's healing 4% of his missing health every 3 AAs roughly might be a bit strong with tons of AS and a spirit visage, not really sure.

W: I'm just saying you wrote piercing wrong:/ Also why not just make the snare last for one second? The scaling is a little weird on it.

E: Perhaps make the taunt duration scale? Cause two seconds is an awful lot of time to for level one.....

Overall: I had a bit of trouble finding issues with your individual abilities so I kind of wanted to discuss Carius as a whole. To me Carius feels like an initiator type champion, he jumps in and kind of blow all his spells and just AAs for the awhile until he gets them back. I read through the thread and you mentioned you wanted to make him a

Kind of of off topic bu he kind of reminds me of Xin Zhao, they both heal roughly every third AA, they both get CDR by AAing, they both follow a pretty similar playstyle. They both jump the one guy and maul him to death and in Caerius's case perma CC the target.

Like is CC is a bit insane, 1 sec stun followed by 2 second taunt, then a 1 second snare, then a potential 1.5 second snare, he can lock some one down for 5.5 seconds which might be a bit much...... I'm not really sure this much CC is healthy:/

Here are some questions I like to ask to help people with their reviews. Hopefully they help you as well.

-Why should I pick Caerius? What does he do that no other champion does?

Why should I pick Caerius over some on say Xin Zhao? Both follow a similar playstyle but Xin is capable of dealing incredible damage as well as bringing moderate CC and having huge staying power. Why should i pick Carius over Xin?

-Imagine playing your favorite champion in your favorite lane in a match versus Caerius, how do you handle him? Do you believe his kit is fair?

-Imagine playing a game as Caerius, how do you play the game out? What do you build?

How do you imagine Caerius playing out? what do you do early, mid, late game. What items do you buy? etc.
