Righteous Glory's State In My Opinion for 5.16

Righteous Glory Total Cost: 2500 --> 2400 Catalyst Passive: Loses Catalyst Passive on Upgrade. Notes: Catalyst has two clear upgrades - a rush item (Rod of ze Ages) or Righteous Glory (Team Fight). One of the reasons we've tuned down RG over time is that whenever its strong enough to be rushed as first item, we tend to dislike how early skirmishes get decided. Trying some minor experimental stuff to discourage RG as first-pick up by giving it a clear tradeoff from its counterpart - while also making it slightly easier to build later in the game. From Surrender at 20

This change in my opinion will make the item, almost pointless to get for a non-support character. This will make RG an item that is going to sub par on supports because they can always upgrade Ancient Coin into a movespeed buff item, giving movement speed both to and away from enemies, and someone like Maokai? He is going to be arguably extremely poor, or confined to a peeling tank role only because in my view, why would you get RG instead off RoA.

RoA stacks up your power, gives you more AP, HP, and Mana, and keeps the Valor's Reward passive of catalyst, and while RG will still have it's uses, and sitting on catalyst isn't horrible, RoA gives you more straight power, and if you have a support that can get Ancient Coin, you are set on your diving ability and still be able to lock someone down, without going RG.

And you can also look like at someone like Braum, where they may be forced to get a now(imo) sub-par item to their job, on top of a nerfed aegis, Face of the Mountain, and a sightstone. You are looking at roughly 1550 for Face, 1600 for Aegis + 1050 to make it locket, and then you get into the argument do you want a more expensive Frozen Heart(2600) for the AoE Attack Speed Slow, or the HP and Active for an RG, which is nerfed but only costs 2400. Without going for FH you are looking at 1550+800+2750 = 4100 gold, not counting boots, which can add 900 plus onto that.

I just feel that RG is going to be a horrid item, and a champion I found healthy for the meta(Maokai) is going to be a much less reliable pick when you can go someone like Sion, Hecarim, or Malphite, which while they do not peel as well, can engage better and deal more damage.

I just think their reasoning for the change is bad, and 100 gold less expensive, is in my opinion, no where near the value that Catalyst's Valor's Reward gave to you, I think it is going to be poor for the meta, even with the new bruiser centric items.

I know I am Silver, but I think my opinion here is valid.

Just my opinion here, not trying to qq.

don't think it'll be a _horrid _ item... But it'll be extremely nerfed.

It'll still be good on champions who synergize really well with it. Volibear, Skarner, Olaf, Udyr...

But they won't build it until really late in the game, maybe sitting on Catalyst for a while.

It is a bad nerf. It'll reduce the ganking power of junglers who used it for early ganks and dragon fights. But it'll still be built. Sometimes.

Dead Man's Plate is good on them all too, but you could have it AND Glory's active.

The active is still powerful. It's just changed to a late game item from an early game item. The cost reduction might help in that respect.
