[Champion Concept] Kydax, the Blood Drinker

The HeraId·8/21/2015, 4:28:00 PM·5 votes·1,811 views

Hey Boards, me again, hopefully with an actually useful champion concept(for once). I wanted to create a champion that used a bastard sword, a sword that can be handle one handed or two handed, while making that a functional part of his kit based on what form he is using. I am still deciding if the form change should have any effect on his abilities or not, and working on lore and some most likely very base concept art.

Without further or do, I present Kydax the Blood Drinker.

Concept: Kydax is a melee fighter/bruiser based around on well managing his fury bar. Kydax's main weakness kite-ability, he lacks any dedicated gap closer is favor of a high base movement speed and hard crowd control. I see him as a top laner or jungler, however he suffers much from the same things that an Olaf does, low mobility, with similar strengths in that once this terror reaches his target he can quickly dispatch them.

Base Stats:

Health: 537.8 (+85 per level)

Attack Damage: 59.98 (+3.5 per level)

Attack Speed: 0.694 (+2.7% per level)

Movement Speed: 360

Health Regen: 7.96 (+0.75 per level)

Armor: 25.584 (+3.8 per level)

Magic Resist: 32.1 (+1.25 per level)

Range: 150

Alright, now we move onto the abilities, but before that I would like to say I am fairly poor with numbers so any help with that would be greatly welcomed.

Innate|Passive: The Thirst

Kydax has a thirst for blood, and in battle it is only more so. Kydax uses fury as his resource, gains five fury for every auto attack, but gains 10 fury for killing a unit. For each five points of fury Kydax gains .5% cooldown reduction(10% at full fury), additionally, when Kydax reaches max fury he enters a Frenzy for five seconds, after the duration he loses 10 fury per second for five seconds, and unable to gain any during that time..

Frenzy: Kydax is silenced for 1.5 seconds, during the duration of the blood lusted frenzy Kydax deals 7.5/7.75/8/8.25/8.5/8.75/9/9.25/9.5/9.75/10/10.25/10.5/10.75/11/11.25/11.5/11.75% increased damage, receives 7.5% increased damage, upgrading each level, however, he also gain 5% attack damage, but loses 10% of his resistances.

Concept: I want Kydax to be forced to be smart about when he goes into his Frenzy, because while he deals heavily increased damage, he also makes himself reckless, reducing his resistances and increasing the damage he takes.

Q: Atrese Form/Drake Form

Atrese Form: Kydax uses his sword one handed, increasing his attack speed by 5/7.5/10/12.5/15%.

Drake Form: Kydax wields his blade two handed gaining base attack damage based on 10% of his total attack damage, >additionally Kydax's attacks slow the target's movement speed by 25/27.25/29.5/31.75/33%, but he gains fury at half the rate he >normally would. Cooldown: 3 Seconds, cooldown reduction has no effect on this ability.

Concept: Kind of a thin ability similar to Jinx's Q: Switcha' Roo, I wanted him to have the ability to change his form, which while not unique, fits his weapon. Considered Changes: Atrese Form gives less attack speed but increased movement speed, and Drake Form bolstering his defense rather than slowing down his target, but due to his lack of mobility I think the slow would fit better.

W: Drink Their Blood

Kydax lusts to drink the blood of his enemies, passively, every fifth auto attack does damage based on 7/8.5/10/11.5/13% of the target's missing health as physical damage, and he heals himself for 10/15/20/25/30% of total damage done by the attack, and gains 15 fury. On activation Kydax gains 30/35/40/45% increased movement speed for 2.5 seconds, and his attacks 2.5/3/3.5/4/4.5% of the target's missing health in magic damage for five seconds.

The attacks of the passive do not have to be on the same target. Cooldown: 15 seconds, reduced by .5 with every auto attack.

Concept: I want Kydax to be able to be effective at removing low health targets quickly, illustrating his blood lust, but struggle at dealing with targets at high health Possible Changes: Make passive only activate if the same target is hit five times, but give a movement speed buff upon using the passive, and removing the active, or changing the active into a lifesteal buff.

E: Purge the Weak

Kydax cleaves the area around him dealing 75/100/125/150(+0.5 Total AD, +1.0 Ability Power) physical damage to all enemies struck and stunning them for .75 seconds, enemies below 60% Health are stunned for 1.5 seconds instead, and take an additional 25/30/35/40(+.25 Base AD) true damage.

Range: 250

Cooldown: 12/11.75/11.5/11.25/11 Seconds.

Concept: This goes back the fantasy of blood lust. I want Kydax's strengths to lie in his ability to remove his chosen target quickly, and promote his fighter aspect with an AoE stun.

R: The Corrupted

Upon this ability being leveled Kydax gains strength(model change). At its first level Kydax's blade becomes a blade covered in blood red runes, then ornate plate armor from regular plates, and then a horned helmet at final level.

Passive: Corruption: Kydax gain 10% Life Steal, at second level he gains 15 armor and magic resist, and finally Kydax becomes fully corrupted by his Thirst, and his forgotten patron gaining 100 health, doubling his passive life steal, and gaining 25 movement speed when moving towards enemies within 750 range.

Active: Kydax gives into his corruption for six seconds, during this time Kydax gains 10/20/30 attack damage, and all of his attacks deal 50/65/80(Plus .5 AP, plus .25 AD) per second for 3/4/5 seconds. Additionally Kydax can reactivate this ability to taunt the lowest health target within 750 range for two seconds, and slowing all other enemies in that area for 50%(Plus 1% for every 2.5% HP they are missing). The taunted target has their resistances reduced by 10/20/30% for four seconds.

Concept: This ability is heavily derived from the lore idea I currently have for him, although I would love help with the active of his ability. I want Kydax to gain something everytime he levels his ult, to fit the fantasy of him gaining strength as a battle rages on.

Lore:

Kydax grew up in Demacia, the son of falling noble family, centuries before Jarvan Lightshield the Fourth was even born, once known as House Leradax. He had privileged life, and was taught the ways of war since he had borne, but he craved more, Lusted after adventure, glory, and most of all -- power. He left Demacia at the age of twenty with a hand picked band of fifty warriors, most of which from the House Leradax’s own guards, towards the Plague Jungles, a location no one would reach.

Kydax and his band made it to the Great Barrier unscathed, but upon entering the Morgon Pass, they were assailed by beasts that no one knew what were, armed with sheering claws and teeth that were like needles and tusks like lances. Kydax fought where the fighting was the most brutal, where his quickly decaying reserve of men thought he would die.

Somehow, they survived, but only ten of his warrior’s remained, the rest carrion or soon to be joining their fallen comrades. They decided it would be better to cilb in the barrier then risk going onwards with a greatly depleted company, although a few would have prefered to return home rather than risk another fight with the beasts. Kydax wanted to find where they had come from.

This quest was doomed from the start. Kydax and his men eventually came to an altar atop one of the many peaks of the Great Barrier, with a worn tome. Kydax decided they would rest there for two days, a mistake he would not come to regret, but his men would.

The first night Kydax saw visions of his future glory, if he but studied the tome, he saw himself as the strongest of all warriors, glory, riches, power, would all be his, but nothing of the price he would pay were hinted at.

His retinue noticed his changing, and after he decided they would stay atop there indefinitely, they grew wary of him, but every day, food was on the altar, a meagre feast from an unknown power, and so they were provided for, slowly Kydax was consumed by an obsession to discover the secrets of the tome. They spent over a year there, those of Demacia assumed they were dead or never to return.

Kydax began to worship a power on top of that mountain, slowly, his warriors began to worry, but they tried to break him from his ways too late. His cousin was the first to try and speak to him, but lost was his kinsman of old. Lost was the respectable man he had known, in it’s play was an insanity, an ever greater lust for power and glory, even more so than he had ever had.

Two days later, his Retinue decided they had to try and kill him or he would doom them all, and rather than leave him and return to Demacia, they had to remove his taint from the world. None of them lived, he them all on, without an issue, and brutally. His cousin was the last to die, and the first victim of the blood lust, and the Thirst, but he would not be the last, only the first of an ever growing number.

Kydax was rewarded by his Patron, a forgotten godlike being, if not a god itself, called Miltas. His armor reshaped itself and sealed him inside of itself, a black carapace of steel, his blade and shield were remade by his newfound father into a bastard sword, both elegant and unholy.

Kydax returned to his old home to years later, he slaughtered many in the streets, his own father among them, until the King and his guard subdued him, no one knew what Kydax had become, he was imprisoned, and set for death, but the cell was no match for him, be broke out, and was never seen again, but slowly, he realized what he had done, and he fought with himself over it. One part of him told him that power would come from the death of his enemies, and their blood, but his remaining sanity told him it was wrong, until there was nothing left but a ravaged mind, caught trying to gain both power through unholy means and ascend to the status of a demigod, and itself telling him it was wrong, but as he fought longer, the more his will for power grew, leaving Kydax as man fighting his wills for an eternity...

Hey, Im a big fan of champion concepts, whether it be from Riot or fans... I have to admit, this guy seems pretty interesting. I really would like to see the lore you came up with to kind of get more of a glimpse at who I'm reading but from what I'm understanding dude is just a crazzed maniac who tries to hold himself back from bloodlust. All the skills seem pretty dope to me because there's so many ways he could've been built in-game which is a plus in my book.

Two things though-

  1. I aint gonna lie though, the W- "Drink" their blood seems a little sadistic for League... I would rather see "Spill", "Scatter", "Shed" or something to kind of tone it down. But then again, I don't know the lore or the image your have for your champ so I'm sorry if Im being a prick.

  2. The Ult is cool AF! I actually think it's a little better than the one I came up with if your lore is gonna play into it, but I did want you to checkout what I came up with if you have some time.

Please add some Lore, Recommended items, and maybe Rivalries if he has any. (+1)
