So nobody wants a female version of their favorite champ? Male for the ladies. With all the fan art of gender swapped champs on the internet I would have thought this would be right up a lot of people's alley. I know Riot has a lot of good ideas for skins. Just look at DJ Sona. But this looks like a missed opportunity. Wouldn't a female Heimerdinger SKIN just be the cutest? A male Jinx would be LOL's version of the joker I guess.

There are a few reasons why, perhaps, they haven't done any of these.

  1. Selecting a Champion (or multiple) for this could be difficult. Some skins naturally fit the Champion. Sona is a musician, so DJ Sona makes sense. Even the skins that completely go against the theme (such as the Arclight version of 'dark' Champs) do that because there is a strong theme to go against in the first place. Genderswaps would easily apply to the vast majority of Champions, with a few outliers such as Rek'sai where there wouldn't be a noticeable difference. Even with the other Void Champs, though, most of them have Voice Overs which would need to be completely redone.

  2. On that note, Voice Overs for these skins would be a more costly component than just some model and particle changes. They'd have to find & pay the VO actors/actresses for each of these skins they wanted to do.

  3. Champion "clarity" or readability. How easy it is to instantly recognize a Champion, especially during chaotic, crowded team fights. If the model changes were severe enough due to the gender swap it could hamper how easy it is to immediately identify them (Braum, for example, would probably look wildly different. I mean, she wouldn't have the mustache)

The fanart is great don't get me wrong, I have a fem Yasuo as my phone background, but as for skins I think it presents several problems.

As I said in another thread, I'd like to see this idea done as a one-off - a brother-sister or husband-wife team who have identical kits and can both be played in the same game, but one ban bans both. Maybe give them abilities that cause damage scaling with AD, and utility scaling with AP, so you can build them either as a marksman or as a support depending on whether you focus AD or AP.

While the idea seems interesting, I feel like it would be hard to apply to most champions. As was previously mentioned, a gender swap would have no real effect on some champions, but I'm more concerned about the champions that it would have a massive effect on. Most of the champions in league of legends have a fairly stylized figure, usually based on their gender. This means male and female characters usually have in turn radically different hitboxes. While it would work with a few champions, (Lucian, for instance) I feel like gender swaps would become sort of a nightmare with a lot of the champions people most seem to want (Like Braum.) just because of how different in size the models would be if they were to remain consistent with current champion designs.

Then again, I don't make the game. That's just something that I think could be a potential problem, but it very well might not be.
