Occams Raiser··35 votes·4,489 views

Are you serious? I have to set aside playing ranked for this champ. Come on.... where is the gamers etiquette? You know damn good and well you dont know how to get the most out of this champ yet and shouldn't be learning in ranked games.

JEEEZUS!

Only upside js the enemy might not know how to deal with him either

but im pretty sure hes harder to control than to deal with at this moment

Yeah the Bard on your team might just end up durdling around than being a help as a Roaming Support.

Occams Raiser2 votes

He is like a support that leaves for no particular reason to go get some power ups. He comes back and he hasn't done anything. The fact that he can only carry 3 wards makes his roaming pointless. I don't want someone that weak on my team just so he can move around the board more. He is not even that fast. This is one of those champs that only high level players on premades will play.

Bard makes the game a 4v5.

Occams Raiser1 votes

I have been watching the matches that pop up in the client. That hasn't been the case. lol

Tourian8 votes

Some people have PBE accounts and have been playing him a few weeks bud.

Spacesuit Spiff6 votes

Even so, I wouldn't trust my team to work with him. ADCs already die while I'm warding and throw a temper tantrum if I gank mid.

High52 votes

If you're in std lanes and aren't working with your adc, you're hurting everyone.

Occams Raiser1 votes

What percent of players have a pbe?

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

I think quite a lot more now, as they recently accepted a bunch of applications

I ban new champions not so that the enemy team won't play them but so my teammates won't play them.

Love the idea

His ult is just... so much potential for trolling. People take him ranked and they dont mean to fuck everything up, but they do. Especially since it's delayed and gives full warning it's coming. Fact is bard, will always be pretty crappy in soloQ because he has almost ignorable damage, no immediate heal/shield (casting health pack under someone is basically just an MS boost), and he requires a LOT of teamwork and communcation to use effectively (you basically have to be on voice chat in order for him to be any good) which is rather difficult to find in soloQ, especially in lower ranks.

So right now if i'm banning in lobby... "anyone going to bard?" I am *instaban WTF "It's for the greater good friend"

It's especially bad right now because all the 'special' players have to pick him, he's new and therefore picking him makes you a bamf (until it's 5 mins in and your team is waiting to report after ff)

Asking first and then banning him when someone wants to play him is pretty messed up. Someone did that to me a while ago for a different champ so I went Braum mid vs Karthus. It's literally the worst pick possible and I wanted us to lose but without me giving up on purpose etc. I tried my best and we lost horribly. It was glorious. Don't be a dick next time.

I actually feel the opposite. I think ranked is a GOOD place to learn a new champ. In normals it isn't serious, so people aren't really "playing to win" (not trying as hard). When you play against people who are actually trying, that's when I think you learn the most. Because they're at about the same level as you and are trying just as hard.

What I'm trying to say here is trying something new in normals isn't the same as trying it in ranked. You learn more from people playing seriously.

Guy Fox Teemo12 votes

Ranked is a GOOD place to learn except for the fact that you ruin 4 others peoples game by playing it in ranked, for the benefit of you just learning a champion, you can learn him just well in normals by knowing what his abilitys do, how they work, when not to use them, when to roam as bard, learn how much exp you get from chimes etc. You dont need to be in a ranked game to learn the basics and fudementals of playing bard.

Occams Raiser1 votes

I think it was a troll post to be sarcastic. But it sounds like something a stupid person would actually say. So I cant tell. It's like when someone says they believe in Jesus. There true believers somewhere. I just don't know any.

Spacesuit Spiff9 votes

Norms is a better place to learn IMO. In ranked you're playing safe and trying to win, in norms you can take crazy risks and focus on specific aspects of your play that you want to improve. It's easy to play 100 ranked games, do the exact same 2 or 3 things in all of them, and learn almost nothing.

Saying this right now.

Trolling, it sounds like,

Occams Raiser1 votes

yeah. I wouldn't play ranked right now unless everyone is banning him. And they are not. People are picking him more than when Braum came out. Its like they are trying to be the first person to crack the code and give his life meaning.

ofart1 votes

If people suck then they will drop and play at a lower ranked level. It evens out pretty fast. I had a period of playing a lot of AP Varus, Kennen jg. etc. and dropped from G2 to S3. I stayed there as I first timed a bunch of champs. Then I moved to my mains and went back to Gold in S5. You have no obligation to play your best champs and strategies in ranked. If you want to experiment, you'll just drop to your new skill level for what you're doing.

Spacesuit Spiff1 votes

Except they aren't necessarily going to keep playing new stuff. If I started to play Bard in Ranked I'd drop a bit, and then go back to my mains and stomp, which is unfun for everyone in all those games.

Occams Raiser1 votes

This is the weirdest thought I have ever heard. I'm not even sure if it has anything to do with my post.

Spacesuit Spiff1 votes

Yeah, I just witnessed the inevitable troll bard. Unfortunately, enemy team was smart enough to pick champs like Wu that can't really be cocklocked by him (since the duration of Wus ult is more than his).

Occams Raiser1 votes

sad

I don't know how to play most the champs i play in ranked whats your point

That you are a scurg.

I lost us our (normal) game while playing Bard because I ulted my team to protect us from a Sejuani ult, but didn't notice I was making sure Orianna can line up her ult perfectly. She did. We died. We lost. Please don't play Bard in ranked.

Moonshade1 votes

Had a nightmare game just now because their bot lane got so fed that Varus full charged Q + Morg Q would do 90% of my HP essentially meaning that if Morg got a Q on you, you were DEAD unless you were our Garen.

Was doing good in lane vs their Yas, didn't die in lane much/at all, pings mia when he went missing (couldn't tell if he went top or bot) and next thing i know "Enemy Double Kill" and it just went downhill from there. A guy on our team did pick Bard and he was a wonderful 0-12-6 by the end, now I see how bot got as scary as they did...

Occams Raiser1 votes

Worst champ right now. They will buff him.

Worst champ right now. They will buff him.

He's only bad because he's in the squishy support area and people keep trying to build him more offensive, also people don't know when its safe to go on a chime/warding run often screwing themselves or their ADC in the process. They are also getting used to his portal mechanic trying to figure out the best ways to use it in combat. He's like Azir was when he first came out, so mechanically different from what exists now that they need to have a period where everyone can learn what he actually does

Kitten of Evil1 votes

People are used to building supports with AP and slightly glass cannon, but on Bard what's the point? His ratios are crap. 30% on his meeps, 50% on his Q. I build him MS/CDR/HP and have had decent results. Twin Shadows is about the only AP item that's actually very good on him, it lets him roam safely.

Person 1: "Lol my new main Bard just got released"

Person 2: "Haha, you're funny!"

Person 1: "LoL think i'm gonna que up 4 rank with my new main Bard"

Person 2: "Lol nice one jokestr xDDD"

Person 1: Actually does it

Don't really think that this applies to everyone. As a support main, I seem to be having good luck with bard. Besides from the awkward ultimate. For the most part the issue I'm seeing is enemy and allies unsure on how to play against/with a bard. Tunnel baits are real. Lmao

I love that people play first week bard.

I will just be clearing my jungle, then a free 300 gold will just come to me.

This kinda segways into my thoughts on the Mastery System. A lot of people could have gotten rank 5 on bard by now, you know. That doesn't mean they're qualified to play them in ranked.

øHaruø1 votes

I laugh at the enemy team who picks Bard. I know we're going to win then. I was panth, got ganked by 4 people at my tower. Bard ulted me. I picked up some free kills. :).
