Don't see how they aren't viable already personally I've been playing ekko bot lane :p. Sure they aren't going to melt towers as fast as an adc but from my experience the extra cc/ burst goes a long way.

The issue with an item bringing mages into botlane is what would stop Midlane mages from buying it? You would have to make a pretty ridiculous item for that singular item to be what bridges mages bot, but it would have to be limited so that the item could ONLY work botlane. otherwise it will just get abused in mid.

As for this one, the main item is pretty overpowered with its passive alone (depending on the ratio) with tacking 70 ap on it makes it a dream. The secondary maiming star is just something no mage would want. I cast this active and then what? I lose 70 ap for assumedly 34 mana and negligible damage? Seems like a waste to me.

Furthermore, this item in particular will make certain on hit champions very strong. Kayle comes to mind as a prominent figure. This plus nashors plus guinsoos is a lot of free on hit magic damage. Even the likes of Kai'Sa and Varus could abuse this.

Speaking of nashors, this item is basically just a nashors tooth. It follows roughly the same design principle and it hasn't allowed mages to lane bot.

Overall, it's a bit of a mess that wouldn't being mages botlane. If we focus on auto attacks adcs will always have the upperhand because they are designed that way. If you want to make mages viable bot you would have to make their strengths apparent on their own without trying to shoehorn them into another classes specialty.

Not gonna happen due to a certain champion unless a cap is added. Veigar.

Plus, ap items are balanced around ap only improving ability damage. Changing damage to ap would ruin late game balance - most mages would take it late game do just deal a ton more damage. As for making them play bot, that wouldnt help. Mages go bot not to do an ADCs job, they go bot to do a mages job in another lane.

Cassio, Ziggs,Teemo, Veigar, Karthus are champions that due to their kind of waveclear or DPS would make good botlane mages if balanced around it.

Cassio has the nececarry dps, but she would need a mana-reg steriod on her e. Teemo is quite obvious being a AP scaling marksman, but his range is too short. Ziggs does work, but also has incredible mana issues in early game Veigar has the problem that stacking his q is diffecult if the enemy botlane can push you in very hard Kathus has mana issues

If riot can somehow balance out Teemo's range and the others mana issues without turning the champs into issues themselves, they would be good to go for botlane

Maybe it would need more added to it because it isn't strong enough
