Lore:

Born of a prominent family of mages, Sergei was nevertheless the black sheep. Ever since he was a kid, Sergei was unable to preform magic. While his sibling shot magical bolt from their hand and fly, Sergei fail to even perform a simple illumination spell. Lacking the spark of magic within him, Sergei was labeled Pariah, and mockingly called Soulless by his siblings and peers. But despite the best effort of his parent, Sergei was unable to perform magic, nor was he interested in performing magic. Even from a young age, Sergei was a man of science. While his siblings were busy learning incantation and meditating, Sergei was busy learning formula and tinkering with machines. This interest in technology further drive him apart from everyone else, his parents disappointed in his failure to do magic, his peers disproving of his scientific pursuit. Finally, on his 18th birthday, Sergei left home to venture to Zaun, where he can continue his scientific pursuit without the heckling of mages.

In Zaun, Sergei continues his research in the field of energy under the fake name Delta, where in a stroke of irony, he made a tremendous breakthrough. He found the mathematical formula for magic. No longer was magic out of reach, for now it is a simple, physical energy type like any other. The only difference is that in order to change magic energy to other form such as kinetic (levitation spell) or heat (magical bolt) require a special catalyst. The so called "power of the soul" was no more than a substance, dubbed Mana, produce in the brain that acts as a catalyst to transform magic energy into other form of energy. Sergei, with this new found knowledge, constructed the Pariah Core, a reactor made of experimental synthetic Mana, capable of manipulating the magical energy field, absorbing it, negating it, redirecting it. The Pariah Core, in its first test run, demonstrated tremendous capability, but at a cost. The first activation of the Core sends a massive pulse of energy, shutting down Zaun entire energy network, destroying half of Sergei's lab, and opened a rift to a dimension unknown to man. And as Sergei gazed into the rift, it gazed into him, and his vision filled with outwordly horror that would melt the mind of lesser man. Immediately, he understood. Magic did not come out of nowhere, energy can not be created or destroyed. What magic does is draw power from an alternate dimension, but with every uses, weakening the barrier between two worlds. Having seen first hand, and narrowly escaping, the monstrosity that knows only hunger from the strange dimension, Sergei came to realize that every mage in the world with their reckless use of magic is tearing the barrier apart, effectively dooming the world to out-worldly invasion. Chuckling to himself about the cruel irony of the world, Sergei donned his suit, powered by the Pariah core and specifically designed to suit his task. He was determined to save the world. He was going to end all magic, one mage at a time. Delta stepped out of the building, and the air crackle with anti-magic static.

Appearance: Tall, male. Wears a buttoned up Soviet-style white winter trench coat with straps and pouches. Underneath is a black synthetic overall. Wears a faceless, segmented mask/helmet. Black gloves, black pant with knee protection and black combat boots. Strapped across his back is the Pariah Core, a black-core white-glow energy reactor (think Iron Man) that extend into along his right arm, forming a sort of exoskeleton/gauntlet. His spell effect looks like white noise Aproximate Sketch: http://i.imgur.com/D2WyV8i.jpg

Archetype: Anti-magic science guy

Gameplay: A dedicated anti-mage assassin, Delta utilize high range gap closer, silence, brutal close quarter combat that damages the very source of mage's power, mana, to quickly rush a mage, disrupt his ability to cast magic, drain him of his power and energy source while shrugging off any spell a mage can throw in retaliation. However, as a dedicated anti-mage, Delta is very vulnerable to physical damage as he have very limited disables to stop people from auto attacking him to death, by passing his silence and magic resistence. Furthermore, despite its very high range, Terminal Velocity have a charge time, and as such requires forethought and caculation on Delta's part, either aiming with finese to strike an enemy, or to get out beforehand if he senses danger coming.

LORE CHALLENGE:

"This is more interesting than i thought" Delta thought to himself as he burns the target slip. "An anomaly for a mage. Ryze, if this report is to be believed, is capable of using magic itself, bypassing the transmutation power of mana and utilizing pure magic. This is a phenomenon unseen before. All the mages i have disabled so far have had to transmute magic into another form of energy in order to use them, yet this simple shaman was capable of bypassing such fundamental barrier. I must have him for my research." Delta said into his arm microphone, which recorded, named and sorted his logs and memos. Delta step on to the so-called "Rotary Wing Arial Transport Craft", a recent invention of his old colleague Viktor. He has changed now, he looked different and acted different, but the spark of genius still shines bright with Viktor as Delta remembered. He sat down on the metal chair, strapped himself down and pressed the buttons. The blades on top of the construct started spinning wildly, and like the countless mages he saw perform in his pass, the entire machine levitated off the earth. Letting slip a tiny drop of childish excitement, he punched in the coordinate, and the RWATC lurched, the auto pilot setting a course to the destination. On his handheld display device, an image of a mountain flashes to life with the word "Mount Targon" flashing in red.

Taking his daily dose of perception boosting Mentat through the automated system within his mask, Delta survey his surrounding. The steep and rocky mountain slope offer little sanctuary from the environment nor its starving beast, the air cold and sharp, almost crystallizing with every breath exhaled through the mask filtration system, the untouched snow crumbling underneath his feet with each steps. This place, Targon Pass, looks untouched. From his research, Mount Targon is home to two other tribes of indigenous people, but their location should be far from here. The pass is a dangerous place to venture in, and for the tribes, possess little incentive for people to enter. The pass was barren, save an abode in the middle of it. Delta touched the wood, examining its dust in between his fingers. The place was old, practically ancient, possibly from the civilization before the pass became a wasteland due to changing wind and snow. Activating his scanner, Delta pause for a second for result. "No magical being detected" the synthetic voice exclaimed. Delta turned off the scanner and stepped inside. He can even faintly smell the rotting wood and decrepit dust through the air filter. Turning on his shoulder mounted flash light, he explored the dingy house. The structure seems bare-bone, stripped of everything not nailed down and what little is nailed down has rotted away. Delta found the fake Zhonyia Ring, situated, a bit cliche, in the middle of it under a hole in the roof that allows sunlight to shine through like a spotlight. "Amateurs" Delta thought to himself as he unpack the black pack he has been carrying with him. Though Delta is more than capable of handling a mage personally, past close encounter has taught him the value of caution and forethought. On the brink of death is when people fought the hardest, and Delta would not risk the chance of being in close range when that happens. Trip wires, motion detector, nervous system suppression, shock bolt and reinforced restraint should take care of most mages, and this "Ryze" is not even a trained one but a shamanic wanderer. "Easy mission" he thought. "Okay maybe not so easy" he thought as his body is violently blasted back. Though he can feel the physical force, Delta remain unharmed thanks to an always active, low-power Negation Field covering him and his suit protection and insulation. Turning mid air, Delta landed in a roll, crouching against the wooden wall of the hut. Before him stood a man, tall, thin, wearing only a rugged pant with ropes and trinkets attached. His skin was an unnatural blue with symbols tattooed across his skin. The man looked wild, like an animal, but he gives off an aura of natural power. Behind him was a large scroll. The rogue mystic moved, his entire body contorting, and magic flew from his hand. Primitive but powerful magic, controlled by the body as much as it is controlled by the mind, swirling energy become almost an extension to his body, materializing instinctive as the mystic channel through his entire body. Delta crouch down even lower as the energy passed through where his head used to be and blew a hole in the wall. Before him was Ryze, the Rogue Mage

"Of course" Delta smiled to himself underneath his mask as he power-up his Pariah Core "Pure magic. Sensor only picks up normal mage, not this fundamental form of magic. Noted for further mission" As the Pariah Core churns to full power, Delta stood up right, his feet bent, apart shoulder-wide for a firm base, his hands open, one in front, one behind, open to manipulate the energy field. The air stopped for a moment as the two eye each other up, Ryze feeling the energy in the air, Delta reading the numbers in his over head display. "Fascinating" he thought to himself, as if this was a lab he'd be nose deep in these numbers and reading, but right now he has a very angry mage on hand. With a turn of his entire body, Ryze almost punches magic out, raw power shooting across the room. Delta calmly raises his Negation Field, and go into a read crouch stance. The spell hit the Negation Field, magic and anti-magic coming into contact and mutually destroy each other, peeling back one layer as the energy bolt disappear into space, reverted to basic energy. With a click, Delta become a blur, his Hyper Drive engaged, propelling him forward at unmatched speed, his entire body becoming invisible save the trail of light his Pariah Core leaves behind. Delta slams into the rogue mage, bringing with him the momentum of breaking the sound barrier and the excess energy in a forearm strike. Ryze retorted with his own strike, for he was no book and wand mage, Ryze was a master of physical, kinetic magic, his training akin to that of a martial artist. Evenly matched for a fraction of a second, forearm to forearm, Ryze look into the faceless mask with anger and contempt, and Delta smiled. A split second later there was an explosion. The Sonic Boom caught up to him, and the immense shock-wave knocked Ryze back a few meters as well as blowing the dingy abode apart. Rushing out, boots on snow, Delta aimed a punch at the Mage's throat. Crisp, straight and solid movement. The mage grabbed his fist and they exchanged blow. Delta professional, practical and calculated punches, knees and elbow all aimed at the throat, temple, solar plexus etc against Ryze's primal dance, with wild swinging movement that seems to mimic a beast and carry with it the fury and raging vitality of nature. The strike seems infused with magic, and with each contact brilliant sparks erupted as magic and anti-magic destroy each other. On the surface they seem evenly matched, but on a deeper level, Delta is winning. As they match strike to strike, Ryze magic is severely weaken on contact with Delta's specialized clothing, while each of Delta strike, despite dealing minimal physical damage as they are blocked, is absorbing energy from the Mage. The mage has a frightening amount of energy in his body, which is why he has managed to last this long. Lesser mage would have crumbled due to exhaustion after a few strike. Then the mage made a mistake

Ryze leaned back and used both hands to block a bullet-like elbow strike from Delta. Seizing the opportunity, Delta advanced, kicking the leaned back leg of Ryze, pushing him off balance. With surgeon accuracy, Delta strike the mage temple with his open right hand. Panicking, the mage send out a flux of energy, bouncing between the two before pushing them apart. Dazed, loosing his balance, the mage almost fell down but managed to stand, and flail his arm at Delta, but nothing came out. Ryze was confused, while there was a small feeling of pride in Delta. Overdrive. The right handed gauntlet isn't just for show, and in that swift strike, Delta sends a hyper charge electrical signal through Ryze nervous system. Right now the Rogue Mage must be loosing his balance and experiencing horrible ringing, as the signal short circuit the nervous system, rerouting it, disrupting it, and most importantly shutting down temporally the brain lobe that allows mana generation and manipulation. The Rogue Mage is now nothing more than a flailing madmen, his physical prowess compromised as his brain sends muddled and mixed signals to his body, and his potent magic now locked out, only flailing weak uncontrolled bolt of unguided energy that is easily deflected by Delta newly reengaged Nullification Field. Easy target. Delta rushed Ryze, striking with fury, his gloves hitting key point in the body's structure, debilitating the joint and muscle while at the same time draining energy from Ryze's system, damaging him outside and inside. The mage fell to his back and the Pariah mounted him, ready to apprehend him with a swift knockout and system shutdown. In his excitement over completing the mission, Dela failed to realize that Ryze has gotten hold of a rock. Smashing it across Delta's helmet, leaving a tiny crack and damaging Delta sensor, Ryze uses the momentary confusion to escape from underneath the Pariah.

Regaining his vision, balance and focus, Delta looked around, and Ryze was nowhere to be seen. "He couldnt have gotten far" Delta thought, and reengaged his scanner. "No signal. I forgot this thing doesn't pick up his reading" Delta turned back, intending to use his RWATC mounted sensor and aerial view to find Ryze when something caught his eye, a blue moving figure near the wreckage of the abode. "Of course" Delta chuckled as he crouch down and power his Hyper Drive "He still think the ring is the real thing" Dashing at near speed of light, Delta did not stop to realize that Ryze wasn't after the ring. Arriving at wreckage and bracing himself for the sonic boom, Delta was greeted with Ryze, now glowing, firing streams of uncanny energy at him. He was back to full power, somehow. Then, reading his sensors, Delta realize that Ryze is drawing power from himself, his own energy reserve, the electricity in his nervous system, the food, the fat, the sugar, everything, to power his magic. "Desperate Power, and quite impressive, too, but it is the end of the line for you now" Delta spoke "Stand down immediately and i can guarantee your live capture and humane treatment" Ryze sneered at him and growled "Come and get me", channeling his magic even more intensely, becoming supercharged. Sighing in disappointment, Delta engage the Nullification Field to three layers, and stepped forward.

"That did not sound like magic" Delta thought. And he was correct

Immediately, Delta was assaulted with nervous system suppression, shock bolt and reinforced restraint net as he stepped over a tripwire. "Son of a -" Delta curses was cut short as Ryze, having turned Delta's own trap against him, rushed the severely weakened Pariah. His system not working, his shield down and his muscle betraying him, Delta took the full force of Ryze magical and physical assault, spurting blood from his mouth over his overhead displaying which is now flashing the word "System damage. Rebooting" The table has turned, and it is now Delta at the bottom, confused, dazed, disorientated, and Ryze mounting on him, closing in for the finisher. As Ryze body coil back like a cobra, his hand supercharge with magic, ready to blast Delta to oblivion, Delta caught a glimpse of the inside of Ryze's scroll. A collection of letters and words, seemingly unconnected. His scientist curiosity getting the best of him even in a life and death scenario, Delta uttered the words. The next thing he remembered was he was on the ground on his back, and Ryze was on the other side, also on his back. The entire area around them has been blasted away, nothing of the building remains, and the ground has been blasted down to rocks. He heard a cough, then to his surprise, Ryze got up. "You used the scroll" You can feel the anger within his voice as Ryze lurches forward, limping "The forbidden scroll, you used it!" the ground starts to crackle with energy as Ryze tattoo lit up and saturate with energy. Struggling, Delta sit up, still injured, his back propped up against a rock, starring at Ryze. His system was coming back, 80% now. Ryze entire body lit up. 85%. His hand curled and uncurled like two ranging dragons. 90%. Pepples on the ground start levitating. 95%. Ryze lunged. 100%. Ryze stopped, his hand, overcharged with energy inches away from Delta's face, the energy jumping, leaping and curling like flame demon expressing their frustration in not getting to hurt Delta. Slowly, the energy dissipated, and the Rogue Mage body started slumping down, blood coming out of his nose and eyes. Blood was coming out of Delta nose too, and he knew why. The CNP. Counter Nervous Pulse. His last resort, the most powerful but the most unstable. The Counter Nervous signal was just as likely to kill Delta as it did his opponent, and this time Delta got lucky. Still he sustained a bit of damage even through his suit protection. "Some internal damage" he self diagnosed. But it was better than what happened with Ryze. The CNP wave overloaded his already overused and overcharged energy and nervous system, burning the nervous system to a crisp and making the energy system self implode from the inside. Ryze was dead.

Turning his suit into low power mode, activating the life preservation system, Delta sent a signal for his RWATC to come and pick him up. "Actually "helicopter" is a much better name than Rotary Wing Arial Transport Craft" Delta mused to himself, then went to sleep.

It would seem that your particular skill set may prove...quite useful, for this particular target. The details to your mission are within the attached documents.

Target: Ryze, The Rogue Mage Priority:Occupation: Warlock Current Location: UNKNOWN Additional Information: The Rogue Mage has proven himself a hindrance to our operations for quite some time now, and the Legion has developed a dire need for his disposal. Reports tell us that he is in search of an artifact known as "Zhonya's Ring", something I myself had acquired some time ago.

I have set up a false copy of the ring within a humble abode south of the Targon Pass in attempt to bait Ryze into trying to take it. Our reports say that he has been spotted within the area, but unfortunately we are unable to confirm this. Stake out the hut we've set up until Ryze comes to take the ring, at which point it is up to you to dispose of him. When all is said and done, bring me the large scroll which he guards, as it will prove vital in our campaign.

I found the Lore very entertaining. Thank You for it.
