[Champ Concept] Zahir: Sultan of the Shifting Sands
Lore:
Orphaned at the age of 3, Zahir was a child abandoned by his parents at the Shurima Desert. HE managed to wander for about 2 days before collapsing of starvation and thirst. As he lay dying, he felt a rumbling from beneath the ground. The monster that appeared was about as large as a house and was ready to consume him. As it lunged ready to kill, Zahir unknowingly awakened a hidden power, it manifested as a result of his final legs of life being reached. This power, was the ability to Manipulate sand as well as use it as a secondary sense. This power was known as the "Golden Eyes: The Eyes of the Gods". The monster looked down upon him. instead of wanting to eat him, she instead decided to raise the child.
To this day nobody knows if the void sand-crawler adopted the child for her own reasons, or because the eyes controlled her. What we do know is that Zahir spent his next 12 years in the company of this creature, learning to fight and seek prey, as well as mastering his eyes. Zahir see's this creature as his mother herself and loves her dearly. likewise the creature loves him like an actual son, and stands out as the only human she will approach without trying to kill.
at the age of 15, Zahir left her company to go and find a name for himself with his own kind. however he found the life he lived until now (prey and kill) was a very good way to become the target of assassination by now fearful humans. Unaware of the fact that killing innocent people is looked down on, Zahir began to grow a sense of resentment toward his own kind for rejecting him. He would start fights to the death often in smaller towns. During these fights he began to pick up on the essentials of language, and learned to speak. He also learned that what he was doing was murder, and upon finding out just what he had been doing all this time, he ran off to find seclusion away from the Shuriman deserts.
As he ran away one final assassin came to try to kill him. this assassin had the exact same golden eyes that he had, and was also able to manipulate sand. the battle managed to last for about 5 minutes, however Zahir has a superior way of fighting that was wild and unpredictable, as well as had incredible brute strength that came as a result of his sparing with his 'mother'. The assailant remarked how powerful his son had gotten as he lay dying. he also managed to warn Zahir of the eye's curse. His father's greed had lead him to go and find a temptress who granted him the power of enhancing his bloodline traits. the trade-off is that the eyes are used to enslave his kind, bidding all those with the golden eyes to her will, the only problem is that she is a murderous monster who plans to use the power of the eyes as a means to rule over Shurima with a solid fist, and to incite another incredible rune war.
Not wanting his son to become her slave, Zahir's father, Raziel (pronounced 'rah-zai-el') betrayed her and left his son to die in the wilderness. Finding himself unable to bear with the idea of ending the child's life via the blade, he instead abandoned the child to fall victim to the elements. Raziel regretted not letting his son live a normal life, and apologized with his last words; both that he couldn't kill Zahir and spare him the curse's effects, and that he wasn't a good father. The only thing Zahir ever inherented from his father was his wide-edged scimitar.
Zahir now wanders the map, seeking the woman who birthed him, the tyrannical temptress Leeiahzandria. He plans to use the curse she birthed him with to kill her before she can get a hold of him and use his curse to help her ambition.
Overview:
Zahir is an AD bruiser who can also double as an assassin if you build him all damage. His resource is mana. He fights by turning the dirt around him into sand and using it for battle, as well as through beastly physical attacks with his scimitar. It's worth noting that the strength of the sand is also directly linked to his own life force, therefore if any real issues with balance arise, abilities could always be linked to his health.
Passive
Golden Eyes: Every time zahir attacks an opponent he places sand on them. This sand grants vision on them if they move for the next 3 seconds. If they enter a bush or the fog of war, their position will be revealed but sight wont be granted on them.
Q:
Sultan's Scimitar
Passive: Zahir fights with his scimitar instead of his fists. his basic attacks now deal 105% AD.
Active: Zahir cuts an opponent with his scimitar dealing 140% AD. opponents hit by this ability are
W:
Sand Protection
Passive: zahir places the sand around him gaining armor based on 2% of his current AD, and 4% of his current health
Active: Quickly draws sand from the ground in a 200 unit AOE around him. Damage Zahir takes from an enemy champion attack is reduced by 75% and the >shield deals 50% of the damage dealt from an enemy champion's attack back to the enemy
if this ability is reactivated within 1 second of an attack being deflected, Zahir will then push the sand back out as spikes increasing the AOE to 300 and >dealing 130% AD to all enemies hit.
E:
Sand Shot
Zahir picks up 2 pieces of sand and fires them in a skillshot dealing 150% AD each. if both shots hit an enemy >champion, Zahir (and Zahir alone) gains true sight of them for 4 seconds, as well as gains 50% movement speed for 2 seconds
R:
Death: The Shifting Sands
Zahir places a round sand barrier around himself and hovers In a large 600 unit AOE Zahir rustles the sand around slowing enemies movements by 20/40/60%. and dealing 400/450/500 (+50% HP) physical damage over the course of 5 seconds. While in this state the shield blocks out 30% of all damage.
Balance Philosophy
Zahir in terms of balance is a bit tricky.
NATURALLY HE IS INCLINED TO HAVE TO HAVE RATIOS CHANGED AROUND, THE NUMBERS PRESENTED ARE SIMPLY TO ILLUSTRATE HIS ABILITIES
He was designed to have increased damage stats to deal with the fact that he is also meant to have a fair amount of health on him for the most possible damage in teamfights. To compensate for how powerful his abilities are, he has no mobility spells. and his ultimate which deals insane amounts of damage if one is allowed to stay inside naturally has a moderately high cooldown. However it was also designed to PUNISH poor positioning (Note that originally instead of reduced damage this was supposed to make him untargetable).
His ulti is based on health to encourage not building like a glass canon Some math on his ultimate:
If he has something like 2000 HP 50% of 2000 = 1000 1000 + 400 = 1400 overall damage 1400/5 = 280 Per second this is not that impressive but standard for a bruiser
now then give him 4000 HP (using the 500 modifier to signify lategame)
50% of 4000 = 2000 2000 + 500 = 2500 overall 2500/5 = 500 dmg per second.
more balancing in terms of mana costs and cooldown timers would be in order.
