[Champion Concept] Pawn, the Liberated Sacrifice
Lore
For years, games have been popular in the city-state of Zuan. Not games of the body, but rather games of the mind. One such game featured several pieces called pawns on a board and involved the irrevocable forward movement of one's pieces in an attempt to corner a designated piece of the opposing player. While the most popular game of the city at one point, in recent years, its popularity took a turn south as another, more visually impressive game took the spotlight. Displeased with the turn of events, the city's champion of the game, an accomplished techmaturgist, decided to take matters into his own hands and reinvent his beloved game by creating man-sized pieces that would be able to play the game in a more visually impressive fashion.
| When he built the first of these sentient play-things, he very quickly discovered that he had imbued the being with far too much concern for itself and refused his orders to sacrifice itself for his strategy, insisting that it would only lay down its life at its own discretion and would not bend to the whims of a mad and washed-up former champion attempting to relive his glory days. At first, the creator was furious and attempted to disassemble his creation, but the pawn repeatedly dodged its creators advances with the wrench. Finally, the creator became so infuriated with his creation that he pulled out his pistol and fired at his creation. The impact knocked back his creation, but did nothing to cripple its will. Now filled with its own fury, the armless floating being hurled its pointed body toward the throat of its maker, stopping mere inches from his skin, threatening that it would never bend to his will. Before its maker could even speak, the body returned to its head and it left his shop, never to see him again. | "If I lay down my life, I shall do so on my own terms. I shall not do so on the whims of a madman." ~ Pawn
Pawn is a support champion drawing inspiration from chess and checkers.
Passive: Forward March - Pawn gains 15+(5 x level) armor while moving towards enemies. Q: Jump - Pawn dashes from his current position to a target position 400 units away. If he passes through an enemy, they are damaged and slowed. If he passes through an enemy champion, the cooldown of this ability is also refreshed. He may not chain together more than 5 jumps and no champion may be damaged more than once by a single chain of this ability. Leveling up this ability reduces cooldown and increases damage dealt. Damage scales with AP. W: Defer - If cast on ally, a shield is placed on an ally. Any damage dealt to the shield is also dealt to Pawn at 80% until the shield breaks. If cast on an enemy, the shield is applied Pawn and 50% of damage taken by the shield is dealt to the target enemy until the shield breaks. Leveling this up increases shield amount, reduces damage transference to Pawn, and increases damage transference from Pawn. Shield scales with AP. E: Elevate - If cast on an ally, Pawn elevates the target, increasing the range of their abilities, attacks, and vision by 20% for a few seconds. If cast on self, Pawn is elevated, increasing vision range by twice as much as on an ally and can see through bushes and over walls. The area exposed by the bonus vision is visible to allies as well. Leveling up this ability increases the range boost and the duration of the effect. Percent bonus scales with bonus health. R: Sacrifice - Instantly revives a fallen ally at Pawn's current location with full health and mana. Pawn dies instantly. This ability has no cooldown. Leveling up this ability improves a passive of the ability to reduce Pawn's death timer by a percentage. If Pawn is at or above 40% health, Sacrifice forces his death to count as an "execute." If Pawn is above 20% health and below 40%, the last champion to damage him is considered to have gotten an assist rather than a kill.
Laning: by using his W and E, he can easily allow his ally to poke at the enemy laners as well as be protected themselves, though is lack of a heal or normal shield means that any damage to his partner is likely to stick. During ganks, his slow can assist in getting kills, but again, he predominantly supports poke champions rather than hard engages from ganks. Teamfights: by having the ability to absorb large amounts damage to his team and W, Pawn can help keep his team from taking too much damage during the fight itself. More importantly though, the use of his ultimate would allow him to bring back a carry from the grave, the mere presence of which may take pressure off the carries and make them less of a priority. He survives a fight, his E can allow his allies to pick off the last remaining enemies.
