  • So basically he'll be a chess-themed champion called Zugzwang (chess move names ftw)

  • His back story will be him and his 7 brothers along with a pair of knights, bishops rooks and the all-powerful queen protecting the "king" (but the story never really specifies what the king is) (yes its kinda like that Shikamaru shit). So some trajedy happens and only hes left alone to protect the "king". So he equips himself with the tools of his fallen comrades to continue his duty.

His passive would be promotion. Basically he starts of as a Pawn and promotes every time he successfully recalls from inside the enemy base, all the way up to queen. Pawn > Bishop > Knight > Rook > Queen Each promotion grants him bonus stats, a new look and upgrades his corresponding skill.

His QWER would be based on the chess pieces. Something like:

Q: Rooks Cannon W: Bishops Faith E: Knights Leap (cause the knight skill HAS to be a leap) R: Queens Dignity (Wrath was taken RekSai )

Every time he promotes to the corresponding piece, the skill also upgrades. Say he promotes to Rook, then his QWE would be upgraded. His next promotion would upgrade his R.

As for his role, probably a jungler since that gives him the flexibility to sneak into the enemy base.

What do you guys think?

I like the chess theme but in reality the passive themes pretty hard to get. And if you make it based on killing champs than he becomes rengar/khazix and if you make it based on stealing enemy jungle than he becomes kindred. I like the passive of promoting but I think you would need to find some new way to activate it that doesn't involve leroy jenkinsing it towards the enemy base and hoping they don't come kill you.

As for the rest of his skills I had some Ideas:

Q: Rook's Cannon- Dash a set distance and do physical damage in a line alonge the path you dashed as well as a little in front of where you end and behind where you start. (cant go over walls)( relatively short dash) (makes a strong connection to the rook movement theme)

W: Bishop's Faith- Charge up a spear that does damage to monsters/minions it passes through and impales the first champion hit. The champion hit is slowed and tethered. After a short delay if the tether isn't broken you are pulled to the champion.

E: Knight's Leap-jump in the standard 3 foward one over and do damage upon arival (can go over walls) (slight delay on landing)

R: Queen's Dignity- Throw out 6 chains in all directions that latch onto slowly real in enemies (like small thresh pulls but without the stun attached to it)(triggers 3 times). Chained enemies that come in contact with zugzwang are stuned and delt additional damage.

This sounds hilarious. I feel like he could be a good proxy-based toplaner.

How did you draw them?

w/o some way to avoid/dodge damage, via on command ranged/melee CC mobility, invulnerability, shield, spell shield, camo, or invisiblity, it could be tough to pull off that passive.

Id do the Kit like this:

Q: Rooks Cannon Dashes forward a 350 units. If he collides with an unit he will knock them back a set distance dealing linear AoE dmg along the path a little in front of where the unit ends and behind where you start. If he collides with player made terrain he will knock it back instead. Units that take dmg from his ability are slowed.

W: Bishops Faith Calls down a stone statue that slams into the ground from above after 0.5 sec creating terrain for 6 sec. If it lands on terrain it will shatter and destroy it for 10 sec. If it lands on allied unit it shatters negating the next enemy ability and granting a shield if it does so. Any time the statue shatters it deals 200 unit radius AoE dmg.

E: Knight's Charge - Throws some reins in a target direction if they connect to terrain or enemy unit, he will dash a fixed distance forward and swing to side a third of the traveled distance at the end of the dash. (Goes through terrain)

Q and W gives him the AoE dmg he needs to clear camps, while W gives him the tankiness needed to survive camp dmg.

W -> Q -> E gives him a nice engage for a gank as a jungler

and combing W and E will give him the tools needed to get in and out of the enemy base.

R: Queens Dignity He begins to channel, retaining MS, for 6 sec as he gathers energy. If attacked by a non-minion in this state he flashes damaging and applying Nearsight and disarming all enemy units in a 575 unit radius for 1.75 seconds. The longer he channels the more damage it deals.

the R will also help with invading the enemy base, and it will also allow you to be a pseudo tank for 6 sec if the enemy doesn't want to be blinded which is good, because this Kit is all about avoiding dmg to into and out of areas. If the enemy decides that they would rather stop ur ult and take the blind so you can't peel for your enemies, or use a LONG range dmg ability, you can use E, or Q, or W -> Q -> E to avoid dmg to increase the dmg on ur ult.

you never gave a class so I have decided to design him kinda as a support jg with emphasis of having fun outplaying your enemies though smart movement and placement.

in terms of the Chess Theme Azir wasn't enough for you huh?

I like it but I had to vote no, it's way more complicated than champions like Jayce.

Besides this kind of promotes people inting, going under tower fire to "upgrade".
