[Champion Concept] Geroa, Bringer of the Mist

A caretaker of the once Blessed Isles, Geroa Romeo was an immortal who spent his life in service to the Isles, manifesting blessings for any and all the Blessed Isles saw worthy. Now he shambles as vessel for the Mist. It pours from his body, cursing all those it touches to share his fate.

Day by day the Isles fill with more and more bodies, and once they fill, the Mist will move him, to find a new land for the dead to call home.

"...When there is no more room in this Hell... I will come for them..... and they will run...."

Melee

Passive - Bearer of the Mist: Every 12th/8th/4th non-champion or large monster that dies around Geroa causes a Grave to rise in their place. Geroa can click on these Graves, or Graves made by other allied champions, causing them to grow. After the channel, a Dire Mist Walker will spawn, up to 2/4/6 can be active at once.

  • Endless March: Geroa shares health with all his Dire Mist Walkers, and if Geroa dies he possesses the nearest Dire Mist Walker instead.

Q - Mauling Mist: Geroa pauses for a moment before he, and his Dire Mist Walkers shamble and dive in that target direction, latching onto the first large monsters or enemy champions they run into. While latched onto an enemy, Geroa and the Dire Mist Walkers will slow, ground and deal physical damage to them over a few seconds, for every Dire Mist Walker attached to them. When Geroa or a Dire Mist Walker hits a target, the Dire Mist Walkers will follow and attempt to latch onto that target.

W - Rage of the Undying: Geroa targets himself or an allied Dire Mist Walker and causes them to emit thick Black Mist for several seconds, gaining bonus damage resistance, movement speed and attack damage. While it is emitting Mist, recasting this ability will directly control that Dire Mist Walker, and it's command range is infinite. Allied units in the thick Black Mist will be stealthed, as if the Mist was like a bush.

E - Insatiable Hunger - Passive: Any damage done by Geroa or his Dire Mist Walkers will heal them for a fraction of the damage dealt.

  • Deadly Feast - Active: Geroa can target a Grave, and instead of channeling, Geroa and the Dire Mist Walkers will leap to it, devouring it over a few seconds and restoring a large amount of health to them. While they are eating, any enemy champion who attacks them will cause Geroa and the Dire Mist Walkers to become taunted to them for a few seconds.

R - Embrace the Mist - Passive: Near by allied champions who die will cause a Dire Mist Walker to spawn under their control, until they die again or respawn. Their stats and basic abilities will temporarily be replaced by Geroa's, but they will not effect any other Dire Mist Walker. (They are unable to use their ultimate ability.)

  • The Coming Hordes - Active: Geroa will target an enemy champion, pointing at them as he channels and causes a large spell shield of Black Mist to form around him. His channel can not be interrupted until his shield is broken and will last until the shield is broken or the target is killed. The target enemy champion will lose shared sight with their allies and their vision radius will slowly decrease over time, until the channel stops. While he is channeling, lesser Mist Walkers will begin to shamble out of the fog of war, and any unit that dies on the map. Geroa's Dire Mist Walkers and his Lesser Mist Walkers will be taunted to that target, gaining bonus movement and attack speed. The frequency of Lesser Mist Walkers spawning will increase the longer the channel goes on.

Allies: Yorick

His passive is far too similar to Yoricks. You literally have it a side feature called Endless March which Yorick also has. His ghouls also have Endless March, but a different effect.

He also should be an enemy of Yorick base during off lore.

Thats what i thought. We already have yorick as the graves summoner, and malzahar also as a summoner type.

We can have more pet/summons but this guy's summon mechanic is too similar to what we currently have.

Im not saying we cant, (although i personally would like to avoid them) but this is definitely to similar to yorick

His passive is similar to Yorick's because it's suppose to be. They are rival/companion champions, each summoning the dead, only in different ways.

The name of that ability does exist... but it is on a minion and is impossible too see without digging in the code.

Oh, he personally supports Yorick's attempts at stopping the mist, but he can't help him because he is no longer in control of his body. This guy is a zombie, through and through, and has no real control over what he is doing, the mist is in control.

Also, how is this similar to anything we currently have? He summons pets that aren't controllable minions, but equal to the champion in every way. That would be like if Yorick's ghouls could cast his abilities and have as much health as Yorick.

Okay I have two things to say about your reply:

First, just because their methods are related doesn't mean they should have such similar passives. If their powers in lore are so similar that you made them this similar in game, then you have a problem in lore and gameplay. See both Yasuo and Riven use wind techniques of some sort, but their kits are both still very unique. Neither of them steal names from the other like Graves, Mist Walkers, and Endless March, neither of them do the same thing (summoning ghouls from the black mist), neither of them even share an ability with the same purpose. The closest thing Yasuo and Riven have that could be considering "stealing" is that both their Q's are triple casts with a knockup on the third but their very different with Yasuo requiring 3 targets not casts, Riven always knocking up on 3rd, Riven interacting with her passive and animation canceling, and Yasuo's being a skill shot auto that interacts with his E while Riven's is a dash.

You won't ever see a mechanic reimagined in such a similar fashion in game. Ivern for example uses old Karma's shield bombs, but his are still very different. His slows, doesn't speed up, doesn't require too casts, can be used on a summon, and is a normal ability.

Geroa may have a unique way of using and controlling his pets, I never denied that, but his way of summoning pets rips off Yorick way too much. Just because Geroa's methods in lore are similar, doesn't mean he can step all over and stand on Yorick's toes.

Second, I still would think Geroa should be an enemy of Yorick. Geroa is not in control, he does not take action in the world, he doesn't do anything but be a flesh vessel in game, and its totally the Black Mist who's doing stuff. Because its the Black Mist who's making decisions and acting upon them, it(?) should be the character we recognize. When someone ask's what Geroa's motives are, you answer the Black Mist's motives. When someone asks who Geroa would aid and who he would attack in the world of Runeterra, you must answer what the Black Mist would do because Geroa has no control. Geroa may think Yorick's motives are wonderful and want to help him, but he cannot and the Black Mist would find Yorick one of their biggest foes. Thus, because the Black Mist would try to end Yorick, so would Geroa.

I'm not saying Geroa isn't unique or that how he interacts with his summons isn't unique, but how he summons them is not unique. We have seen it before, we have played it before, and we already have someone who does this. Hope I'm helping, sorry if I'm rough.

What are you talking about? Yorick has to have at least 3 graves and his Q makes him instantly summon 3-4 tiny mist walkers. Geroa has to walk up and basically sit there and vomit mist into a dead guy until he gets back up, with Geroa's size, health, and damage.

Yeah, but he is immortal, not counting the zombie stuff, so no matter what happens to him or his body, he will keep being him. His mind and spirit won't be corrupted like other ghouls, but the Mist still controls his body. That's kind of what I was going for. His voice lines would be reluctant to do anything and he would verbally tell people to stay away and run from the Mist. In life he spent all his time filling the Isles with blessing and now death is the only blessing he longs for.

We have actually never seen this kind of summoning before. The mechanic of channeling a drop for several seconds until it explodes into a copy of your champion has never been done.... well... except for maybe Shaco's, but his doesn't need a channel, and his summon can't cast spells and isn't the focus of his kit. Unless of course you're just talking about the graves that drop. Then yes, that exact thing has been done... but so what. It adds a more dynamic laning phase when a Yorick get's involved as the two fight over the graves. Why can't multiple champions share drop mechanics with other champions?

What if there was a chemist champion who's abilities cause goo to appear where his abilities land, and picking them up will amplify his next ability, but it's the same goo that Zac uses, so if Zac collects it he is healed, and if he collects Zac's goo, he amplifies his abilities? Or another champion who collects souls as ammo, like some kind of champion based on the Deathfire's Grasp or like a yordle ghostbuster, but it's the same souls Thresh uses, and they can collect each other's souls? Don't these ideas sound fun and interesting? Geroa here on the other hand can take Yorick's graves and turn them into an actual army of the undead, not just a little band of renegade ghouls, while Yorick can interrupt the channeling with a well timed Q, to keep the undead under his control, and out of the Mist's, or they could work together to really double down on the amount of dead guys on their team.

I want there to be multiple champions who share and fight over these kinds of unique resources. These kinds of things don't have to be limited to a single champion, and they absolutely shouldn't. Yorick's kit does not revolve around his graves and his ghouls, they are more of a bonus to his abilities, while Geroa's entire champion needs these graves to even be a viable champion.
