Honestly I'm still quite confused as to why they chose Orianna for a Dark Star skin and not Syndra

If the leak is correct Syndra will become a star guardian, but wouldn't she be better for dark star? Orianna seems like more of a star guardian.

No, that is like saying Anivia should get a snowdown skin. Read up on Sailor Moon lore, specifically Galaxia.
