Please stop blaming your jungler

Otherworldz··11 votes·2,393 views

I feel like half the games I play the jungler is literally the scapegoat of all 3 lanes and the jungle itself. If someone fails to secure any kills for themselves? Junglers fault.. If someone fails to buy control wards or not ward properly? Jungler's fault... If someone gets baited into the enemy jungle and dies? Jungler's fault... it's like how ADC tend to blame their supports for everything, except the Jungler becomes the scapegoat for anything that happens anywhere at anytime and to anyone on your team.

Common misconceptions: -A jungler is not the only person capable of ganking and helping other lanes.

  • A jungler is NEVER responsible for you dying no matter how you try to spin it. Buy ward. Use sums properly. PERIOD.
  • If you're behind in kills that's one thing, but never blame your jungler for feeding your own lane.
  • You should never rely on ganks to win your lane or secure kills. Early pressure is important, but no amount of pressure will help if you can't hold down your own lane.
  • A Jungler is not your babysitter, and is not an excuse for you to charge in at 3 minutes and go all in knowing you have a 50/50 chance of maybe coming up with a kill. Once you die from idiocy, you will spam chat about how jungle was never there to help you and you would be 5/0 by now if he was.

Jungle mains or not I know most LoL have seen some or all of these examples in game, some of us are guilty of playing that blame game ourselves. Please stop blaming your jungler and learn to take responsibility for your own actions.

Come on guys don't blame anyone, it's really just a game and it's not worth ruining your own or someone else's game by starting the blame game. Who even cares who's fault it is?

Clearly, these people you play with are confused about the rules. Just enlighten them a bit and this should all resolves peacefully.

... Rule 4: Always the jungler's fault. Rule 5: Blame the support. ...

I can understand how these young scrubs might get those backwards; what with the sight stones, brands, and Ivern. But it's really not that hard.

maybe it's because you're a bad jungler

although these are good points, I believe the jungler has the most impact on the game. It's very easy to blame someone that "could have" won the game.

I blame Junglers, when they gank my lane, after I've pinged them back. If they choose to go in from there, its their fault, and it usually ends with my laner getting a kill/double-buffs. Which is always fun to lane against.

I dunno, I've seen a lot of LeeSin kicking people directly onto teammates with no mana and about 60 HP. Barring something like that though, nah, if you die it's on you.

its a solid 2:30 into the game. im clearing the third camp botside, about to hit lvl 3. oh wait... whats that? the sweet "firstblood" announcer on toplane tells me something went wrong, but its not the only indicator. oh the sweet sweet "?" "?" "?" "?" "?" "?" "?" "?" "?", nearly forgot how it sounds like since its almost an entire game ago since i got pingspammed the last time.

i cant even count how often i got pingspammed and flamed in less than 5 minutes into the game this season. i cant count how often people try to tell me whats better to do even if its clearly not. people never respect the enemy jungler, they dont think about counterganks and invades or jungle pathing which leads to flame because they dont realize i have reasons not to gank. i cant count how often i even get flamed while carrying for not carrying hard enough because laners dont realize that a jungler has to sacrifice farm and xp for ganking, so a 4-0-0 jungler can be weaker than a 0-0-0 jungler.

i guess the reason is that jungler is the most different from the other roles among all roles so people who dont play jungle really cant understand what a jungler is thinking or trying to achieve with what he is doing. btw i only listed stuff where the jungler gets blamed for no reason, there are indeed situations where the jungler is the one to blame, like ganking a lane where its clearly a double kill for the enemy, not listening to teammates pings, not reacting to camped lanes properly etc, but i feel like junglers too often get blamed for things undeserved.

I only blame my jg if they chose to not gank until after I'm dead, I've had this and it ANNOYS me to no end.

Did you ping assist and stay under tower till they arrived? Or did you neglect to ping, overextend, then die due to bad positioning/lack of vision?

If it's the latter, it's STILL not the jungler's fault.

Actually they'd be waiting in the bush in the river at mid (the long one next to the lane), and wait for me to die.

Or they're waiting for you to engage. Or they looked and you were too low on health to even gank for. Or they were waiting for the enemy to blow some of their CDs.

If the jungler is right there and doesn't gank for you, there is a damn good reason.

So with all abilities available and mana at full (pinged that ult was ready) he chooses to go in once I'm dead.....not trolling?

For starts, what champ was he playing? If i'm playing someone squishy like eve for example, I'm not engaging till you do. In reality the laners should always engage first if they can. Why? The second the jungler shows himself, the enemies are going to start running. While they are running, you, at best are chasing, but not close enough to do significant damage. At the same time, The jungler, who is between the enemy and their turret and in the middle of all their minions, is taking damge from 1) their adc 2)their support and 3) their minions all while dealing with what ever CC the support is throwing around too. While you're still chasing, to catch up, they've killed your jungle, you're no longer at your turret, and they turn and kill you too.

The opposite way, you engage, they spam their abilities and focus on you instead of noticing the jungler coming in. They have no cc because their support just blew it trying to hit you at your turret, all their poke is on cooldown, and they're farther from their turret than they would have been if the jungler had engaged first.

Other questions are:

  1. How much health did you have
  2. did you know where the enemy jungler was
  3. was your support there
  4. was your lane fed?
  5. Was your jungler waiting for them to blow some cooldowns?

From what you've said, it sounds like it could be any combination of options 1 2 3 4 or 5. The fact that you died makes me think more than anything you fed and you were low health. If you're two autos away from dying, he's going to be 2v1ing very quickly.

Its quite possible you were more useful to him forcing a dive and getting them to take turret shots than you were participating in the gank itself.

ANOTHER very likely scenario is that he didn't actually go to gank as much as he did to remove some pressure from the lane by showing his face, helping you push your turret, and allowing you to back safely.

I can't say for sure without being there. What I can say, however, is that that jungler had a reason for doing what he did. Nothing tickles a jungler more than a successful gank.

He was Warwick (this was before Warwick's rework), had Thornmail, Spirit Visage, Skirmisher's with challenger, Titanic Hydra, Iceborn, and mercurial.

I was 5/0/1 my opponent was 1/5/1 and I was at less than 10% while my opponent was at least 30% Lux was my opponent, he waited until after she snared then ulted me.

And you know beyond a doubt that his ulti was up?

Btdubs, you should have backed and not been at your turret at 10% health against a lux.

Junglers do not have abra kadabra teleports to reach you the moment you demand their presence.

Perhaps they see your lane as too risky, knowing full well that regardless of whether they gank or not, one of you will die. So they opt to better their own gold income, XP and map pressure elsewhere by concentrating ganks on other lanes. EG champs that 2v1 easily: Darius Illaoi Kled Renekton Volibear Or any fed champ

Perhaps your lane opponent is too difficult/time inefficient to gank successfully due to their kit, and they only popped up because they knew those troublesome spells were now on cooldown since they were all used on you. egAhri Fizz Gangplank Katarina Leblanc LeeSin Riven Singed

Perhaps the jungler is behind/farm oreintated/doing something else and sees you die, noticing that the enemy is stupidly low and head over to try and get an easy clean up kill. If you lived and got away with the enemy that low, they still would've come to pick up the kill.

Hell maybe if all these things are not met, the enemy jungle is very fed and very fast in getting around like: Evelynn Graves Hecarim Ivern LeeSin Shyvana Shaco Udyr. And they fear being counter ganked, are dealing with being counter jungled with no aid from the team or think trading the kill for the clean up deaths at the hands of the enemy jungler simply isn't worth it.

. Add onto that the paranoia of "is ganking the right decision" as no jungler wants to feed a lane and you have a pretty tough call to make. It's easy to chose when to all in when fed and ahead in lane as the only factor is "will he get reinforcements?". But this decision has far more factors to consider in the jungle resulting in some simply opting to play is safe until they're 100% certain of getting the kill/sums while not getting themselves or teammates killed

I assume you didn't even consider what I meant, I've had jg literally wait in bushes right next to my lane or that are in the lane then rush in after I die.

Considering your rank, why do you expect any better? (not bashing you for your rank, merely stating what players are like in that elo, I was there 2 once). Now I don't know anything about you so I can't make any claim in regards to this bit. But a common stimulus to this behaviour is the lane player mis-behaving. Ping spam, bm, sarcastic remarks when they make a mistake, rudely demanding their attention ect may result in players doing this. Had a game where the top spammed MIA when the shaco got the kill from a gank but barely scraped turret range, tried to flash out but the turret had already fired and he died. So he did this to everyone as a result.

Also players tend to be kill orientated in bronze as opposed to objective orientated. I saw you play veigar allot. So given how easy it is to secure a kill from a gank with Q, perhaps they want to be certain that YOU will not get the kill (maybe they figure "meh he infinitely scales he dont need no kill"). Pretty dick move but that's bronze for ya.

Or, as many stereotypical lee sins are in bronze, they're just ass holes out to do "LCS BIG PLAYZ" and you're in the way.

.

And I'm curios as to how they wait. Do they sit there all game long waiting? Do they come in spamming "on my way" and then don't do anything? Do they specifically wait for you to die then come hopping along? As all of those prove detrimental to the jungler and are a sheer waste of time, I'd honestly get bored waiting for you to die and what happens if no one dies? They get no kills? How often does this occur?

I'm actually silent a large percentage of the time, so toxic chat isn't a likely thing, also I ping "assistance" then they get in the bush (or they wait there when they notice I'm low), pace back and forth a bit then once I die, they'll ult in or dash in, etc.to get the kill.

Finally, something that is actually the jungler's fault lol. Yes this is bad. Nothing feels worse than giving an enemy solo laner your buffs and watching your laner struggle through it.

If someone fails to secure any kills for themselves? Junglers fault

Hardly hear people complain about that

If someone fails to buy control wards or not ward properly? Jungler's fault

99% of the time they blame the support

If someone gets baited into the enemy jungle and dies? Jungler's fault

Never hear people complain about this either, unless jungler is literally 1 camp away from helping you.

For me, all I care about is jungler getting dragons and securing baron/elder. I never want my junglers to gank top, I want them to stay camping bot. I can easily win most of my lanes unless my jungler comes in and ends up getting us in a 2v2 with enemy jungler.

SilentBomber1 votes

Honestly,i believe this meta is strongly jungle dependable. This season i have seen more level 2-3 ganks than any other. It's not about ganks only.We all can clear camps and understand how jungle works even if we are first timers.

I'm currently Gold V and in my last games, our jungle had no idea where to focus first. Objectives?Bully a lane?Gank bot once to send them base and go for dragon?Steal some camps from enemy's jungle? There are so many options.

I main top. Before i used to play a lot of jungle. There were times i gave FB and was literally my fault. There were time my jungle would dive a Riven level 3 and give her FB plus double buff.We can talk about the jungle role the whole day.

What i can say for sure is,that a jungler who farms and never ganks until level 6-7 is not a jungler at all.As a jungler, you got the smite so you make the baron/dragon and other calls. It's a heavy responsibility i understand that. However, players shouldn't use this fact as an excuse.

Today i got a tryndamere first time jungle who did nothing than dying in ememy's jungle by gragas, fed 3 lanes and never went after objectives. Was it my team's fault he was unskilled?Nope.

Last 10 games got junglers who would refuse literally to help camped lanes or when theiy were really ahead on kills and map control still refused to go after a single dragon and lost the game.Even if a team is behind in gold and kills they can make a comeback if you give them 5 dragons, elder and 2 barons.

Kilanost1 votes

The #1 reason laners wont get a gank till level 6/7 is that they haven't prepped the lane for a gank

How to prep lane:

  1. keep track of jungler and make sure you are ready for a gank.
  2. ward and ping where you think enemy wards are. You should be keeping track.
  3. Let the jg know what sums are up.
  4. lay down some harass
  5. pull some cooldowns
  6. prep for a dive if applicable

Also, if you've fed your lane, I'm not going near that shit until I have farmed and ganked other lanes enough to be able to survive. The more kills you give up in lane, the more i'm going to farm before I visit.

Also, occasionally junglers will be doing other shit that they deem more important than dealing with your lane such as snowballing the top lane renekton. Or counter jungling the shit out of the other jungler.

Ive had games where I've farmed 2x more of the enemy's jungle than the enemy jungler had and I can clearly remember people whining about ganks despite the fact that I was counterjungling the enemy jungler into the ground.

Additionally, and this is my favorite one, even if you don't get the kill or a kill doesn't happen, I've still ganked for your lane. If when I ganked for your lane I realized that you are oblivious, unskilled, or both, I will not be coming back. To put it another way, sometimes you won't get a gank because you've proven you suck too badly to make it an effective us of the jungler's time. Oh and if I show up, I'm taking farm if I don't get a kill. Why? Because ganking for you just cost me half my jungle camps and, on top of that, with Rito having increased camp respawn timers so much, I will literally not have the xp to be of use if I don't.

Zethro1 votes

the only time i get tilted at jgler is if they ignore my pings... if im 100% about to be dived and theh diver cant escape, he shoudl come to help or atleast clean up foir a 1-1 trade
