There are still zero follow up changes to a single mage affected by patch 8.9

Duskblade gets nerfed and Riot preemptively buffs a bunch of AD champions before the patch even hits live resulting in many of them being much stronger than they even were with the original Duskblade.

Riot finally gets rid of the unneeded 15% attack speed on Machete that was eventually supposed to be removed anyways, and there were already numerous base attack speed buffs to a number of Junglers on the PBE before that patch even hits live, many of which will make them much more powerful than they already were with machete prior to 8.10.

I expect to see a similar case with ADC where Riot panics and ships out a bunch of quick buffs following 8.11 resulting in ADC being at exactly the same place they were prior to 8.11.

We are already at the patch 8.11 cycle on the PBE and there is not one single buff or QoL change for a single mage affected by 8.9 despite many of them losing noticeable winrate and/or being subpar to mediocre at best. The bias that Riot holds towards mid lane mages that can actually carry a game because of LC$ is insane, and they get away with it because mage players still form a smaller minority of the overall playerbase in solo queue.

Mages are perfectly viable right now. If you don't see this you are delusional and bad at the game. Assassins are finally in an actual VIABLE state mid lane. Just because the go to isn't control mage mid every game doesn't mean they are weak. It simply means that they are finally just not blatantly stronger than assassins.

Watch MSI. They don't even pick anything outside of control mages there. That's besides the point that there are much bigger fish to fry then buffing weak control mages right now. And I gurantee you every single control mage you say is weak is just wrong.

The sad truth is Assassins do everything better then mages because riot doesn't understand the definition of assassination.

When it comes to Assassins vs Mages,

Assassins have:

  • Better Damage
  • Better Mobility
  • Better Scaling
  • Better Wave Clear
  • Better Escape Options
  • Better Harass & Poke (This one is just sad)

Mages have:

  • Better CC
  • Better Team Burst

Take a look at that list and try to figure out why assassins get to do more then most classes. The problem with Assassins is that they do so much damage and scale so insanely well that when mid game comes along they are no longer assassinating targets, they are assassinating entire teams and that is NOT what an assassin should ever have as part of an identity.

Zed Some of the best poke and clear in the game. He outranges almost any champ in this game with his W-Q combo. His damage is insanely high, he clears waves better than any midlaner and his escape options and mobility make him an all around right choice, its never wrong not to pick Zed vs any midlaner.

Talon just does not lose games, his scaling is through the roof and all it takes is a few kills to have him assassinating entire teams and there is nothing you can do to stop it. He roams the map faster than any champion and trying to chase him into the next lane is pretty much hopeless, you'll never beat him there unless you have TP. His scaling is so out of whack that trying to 1v1 him in lane is impossible, and Rake makes his clear impressively good.

Leblanc There really is nothing left to say, with the revert back to her old ways she presses 2 buttons and your dead every time. You cannot catch her by any means and her CC is actually better then most midlaners have to offer, her only downside is she uses mana.

Katarina This is a champion who was designed to get penta kills. When they announced her rework i was so happy because i thought they'd tone her down but now shes just even better at it. Free rotations is free damage, and she gets free rotations like no tomorrow, no mana means she can farm endlessly, infinite cool down reduction on skills thanks to her passive, easy quick rotations, she's still designed to get penta kills.

I could go on but right now those are the top offenders and the ones you will see the most.

The bottom line is the condition of Assassins is not okay, they have dominated for so long because riot doesn't understand how to make a true assassin identity and you get this mix breed of classes with high damage, high mobility and fast clear, its no wonder they've been drowning out mages for so long, with the stats they have they dominate every part of the match, Beginning, mid and late game and that is seriously not okay.

I mean, riot set out to nerf mages in the first place, in the assassins case it was just making duskblade less core in order to open build diversity.....not that it worked.

Marksmen? Its not a nerf, rather its a shift in powerspikes.

A bit weaker early alternatively midgame if rushing botrk, much stronger later thanks to lord dom and true damage.

Altho admittedly the price increase will still hurt.

Is this what mage players do? Cry 24/7? I thought people said ADC's were the crybabies..
