[Champion Concept] The Four Tokens of Odium
(Have you ever looked at a crying baby and thought to yourself: "Boy I sure hope that thing isn't demon spawn with 4 wicked caregivers!"? Well, neither have I. Incidentally, this may or may not have been the concept that I just made.)
An abandoned newborn infant consumed during the recent Harrowing assault, Odium has somehow managed to retain a semblance of its free will; which it can now impose upon others. With its 4 Tokens - representatives of the few memories retained from the infant's former life - Odium seeks to undermine the armies of the Shadow Isles and establish its own place as undisputed ruler of all who dwell there. But should it gain what it desires, what is to stop Odium turning its gaze back to Valoran?
#An Introduction in a Noxian Antechamber
"He still going on in there?" "Sure is. Won't shut up about it for even a second. I swear the nutcase barely has time to breathe. Surprised he hasn't passed out yet." "I can't hear a thing in here! Why the heck is he even in the throne room? You'd think he'd've been thrown right back out into the streets by now." His partner shook his head, leaning on his spear haft. "Nah, I don't think so. Guy's been talking about the Isles. Y'know - the ones over West. Says there's something big going on over there." "So what? I don't need some guy with dry mouth and no volume dial to tell me that." "Says there's some kind of disagreement over who should be in charge." "Yeah, well - if it were up to me, I'd just as soon chuck him in a cell till he learned the value of a little peace and quiet."
"A splendid solution. And here I was just wondering how I might alleviate this tedious headache."
The two soldiers turned, gawking. The first one, a little more on his toes than the second, stood to attention and made a hasty salute attempt. When the second opened his mouth to respond, however, The Grand Commander spoke first:
"Oh, I see that the two of you have caught me talking to myself. How embarrassing. I should apologise, I suspect - it's just that there has been such an excess of noise in this room as of late; and I'm afraid I cannot seem to collect my thoughts without vocalising them. Oddly enough, it seems that this problem has somehow managed to solve itself the very instant I began to do so. Is that not a fortunate coincidence?"
"Uhh.. yes sir - very fortun--"
"Oh dear, it's started up again. Just as I was getting accustomed to the-"
"It will NOT happen again, M'lord! We are Noxian and we WILL do our duty. I promise nothing less than steadfast alertness at our posts from this point, onward!"
Swain paused for a moment, staring a hole through the guard's forehead as beads of sweat began to form.
"That was very risky... ...but I do not doubt you will live up to your promises. I would certainly be disappointed if you couldn't. As you were, gentlemen."
The Grand Commander glided past the duo; and the pair breathed an inward sigh of relief. As the door to the throne room swung open behind them, the voice of a man flooded into the room:
"--taste your fear even now, as they flow upon the Western borders! Yea; rejoice, ye weak and feeble! For even now, there are those who undermine them! In our own hands, we hold the key to victory over the shadowspawn; for as the new sun dawns we will be the last to-"
"That's quite enough of that."
All those in attendance stood to attention and saluted, bar one - a man shackled, on his knees, afront the throne. As Swain took his seat, an attendant handed him a sheet of paper.
"It says here, Mr Tupperson, that you recently returned from a seaborne voyage. Is this true?"
"Their jaws will clench in on us as those of rabid wolves; bringing with them the horrors of a hundred generations! The mist that--"
"It also says, Mr Tupperson, that you returned alone. And this in spite of leaving shore with no less than fifteen crew members. The report also indicates that you were bound for Damascia. Are you aware, Mr Tupperson, that we have issued a trade embargo with Demacia? We are at war with this nation, Mr Tupperson; and if it were found out that you are supplying them with weapons, or - worse - our own citizens, you would be-"
"With every passing cycle, they grow stronger and more united in their will to destroy us; but in the face of their inevitable advance, we have been granted a gift - envoy with their forebears, those that have been spurned by the one who commands them! In time we can-"
On the side of Swain's vision, a soldier tilted his blade. The Grand General waved him off, then leaned forward in his throne.
"...Tell me about the Shadow Isles, Mr Tupperson."
The man was taken aback, then opened his mouth to speak. When he did so, however, his eyes rolled into the back of his head and the voice that responded was not his own,
#"Jericho Swain, Grand General of the Noxian army... You are well informed of this vessel's purpose. There are those that would aid your kind in its futile battle against the armies of the dead. A chapel has risen on the coasts by the Northern Ices. You will travel there to meet with us."
The court and those attended stood wide-eyed in terror, raising their weapons in reserved panic. But Swain, once more, leaned forward in his seat - his expression indifferent, as though this were no more out of place than any everyday affair.
"And if I should reject this invitation?"
#"Then all of your kind will be buried in the wake of the next Harrowing."
With that, the seafarer collapsed unceremoniously to the floor. The brief silence was broken as Swain rose to his feet.
"Prepare a vessel. We're headed North."
#The Four Tokens of Odium

From left to right:
- Domos (doh-moss) the **Keeper **.
- Ferus (fair-us) the **Embedder **.
- Anetestos (Any-test-tose) the Witness.
######(Naming method: Take a job description, run it through a thesaurus, convert it to Latin and then change the syllables up.)
#Condensed Lore Born from the horrors of the Harrowing, Odium is a being that has somehow managed to regain control of its independent will and learned to split and embed its own consciousness onto the minds and souls of those around it. Perpetually held within the arms of its caretaker, Sumarattus, Odium resembles that of a young babe - a graphic image of what Valoran might expect should the Shadow Isles continue to be allowed to raid its borders and claim the souls of the weak and innocent.
#Playstyle
Odium is a low-range caster featuring a variety of abilities - each one capable of disorienting or trapping targets. Slippery, overbearing and frustrating if left to its devices, Odium's tools provide it with the means to dramatically influence the pace of extended skirmishes between teams on the Rift.
#Champion Kit
Primary Role Mage. Secondary Roles Jungler, Support.

#Passive - A Second Harrowing
Whenever a unit is defeated by Odium, the ground will part beneath the unsuspecting foe and drag it into the Earth. After a brief delay, the unit will be resurrected for 4/5/6/7.5 seconds to serve out Odium's will; attacking nearby foes and structures before degenerating (1/2 duration if in a turret's radius of influence). Units resurrected in this way grant vision and will not follow Odium or otherwise move unless a hostile target enters their sight radius. Resurrected Jungle monsters will not exceed their max leash range when chasing hostile units.
Resurrected champions and monsters will prioritise other champions, while resurrected minions will prioritise minions and structures. Large monsters will have their damage output reduced by 1/3.
Though it IS possible to revive pets, dragons and barons, pets will receive no stat-related bonuses, dragons will have their damage cut in half and Barons will only do 1/4 their normal total.
**Thematic note: **Resurrected minions, pets and monsters will boast a dark and tinted aura to ensure they are distinguishable from their standard counterparts.
#Q: Cage of Domos
Mana Cost: 70/80/90/100/110 Cooldown: 22/20/18/16/14 Range: 575
Odium marks a target 125-radius location. After a brief delay, a prison resembling a large bird cage rises up from the Earth as impassable terrain for 2 seconds, dealing 20/35/50/65/80 (+0.12 AP) damage every 0.5 seconds to hostile targets caught inside. During this time, Domos, The Keeper will patrol outside the cage, striking foes that wander too close and dealing 40/65/90/115/140 (+0.48AP) magic damage at a rate of 1 attack, every 0.75 seconds.
Targets caught inside the cage are able to move and interact with one another, but can not affect or be affected by outside sources (This includes Domos). Flashes and blinks enable escape, but can not be used to enter the cage. Adversely, dashes and jumps to do not allow escape; but can be performed over the cage from outside.
#W: Haze of Embeddening
Initial Mana Cost: 40/56/72/88/104 Additional Mana Cost Per Second: 10/14/18/22/26 Range: 325 Fog Radius: 215
Sumarattus exhales a deep, malevolent mist in a maintained radius at the target location, reducing her movement speed by 30% and limiting the vision of those caught inside the fog. Every 0.5 seconds, Odium's servent, Ferus, the Embedder, will strike all unsuspecting targets currently under the effects of Haze of Embeddening, dealing 30/65/100/135/170 (+0.42 AP) Magic Damage.
W must be held to maintain the toggle effect. No other abilities may be cast while Haze of Embeddening is in effect. Units defeated while under the effects of Haze of Embeddening will cause Odium to restore 2% of its total mana.
Additionally, Haze of Embeddening may be moved and will follow the mouse cursor, however turning speed is delayed during the effect (ala
's disintegration ray).
#E: Prescience of Anetestos
Mana Cost: 50/60/70/80/90 Ability Range: 750 AoE Impact Radius: 250
Sumarattus lifts Odium into the air above her (think Lion King). After a brief delay, Odium spits a ball of light over a targeted area, where it erupts - granting vision and blinding all hostiles caught in the radius of the eruption for 2 seconds. During this time, every 80 units of movement travelled by affected hostiles will result in a telegraphed attack at the hands of Anetestos, the Witness, dealing 50/90/130/170/210 (+0.67 AP) magic damage for the first successful hit, and 1/2 this damage for each subsequent hit.
These attacks can be dodged, and will be preceded by a visual representation of a line of effect before an image of Anetestos strikes in a line at the relevant area, somewhat resemblant of Azir's sand soldiers' attack animation (In other words, you should be fine - JUST DON'T STOP MOVING!).
#R: Terrific Lamentation
Mana Cost: 100 Cooldown: 180/145/110 Maximum Distance Travelled: 925 Travel Speed: 125 movement speed Radius: 335
Sumarattus places Odium on the ground and begins slowly pacing towards a target location. During this time, the player controls Odium independently of his caretaker - having access to all standard abilities and gaining 25/40/60 armour and mr, as well as 10/20/30 movement speed for the duration of the effect.
As Sumarattus paces, she will begin screeching in horrifying fashion, causing those in range of her to be feared for 0.5 seconds every 3 seconds over a 12 second duration. Additionally, all non-champion hostile units in the radius of Sumarattus' wailing will take 100/190/280 (+0.5 AP) magic damage every second (1/3 damage against pets and monsters)
Terrific Lamentation can be used to interrupt undesirable channels, such as
or
's ults.
#"Rise and serve me!"
Swain's depiction and dialogue was written in tune to one of the late great Terry Pratchett's most prominent characters, Havelock Vetinari - the Patrician of Ankh Morpork. I always felt the two bore a bit of a resemblance in their style of dialogue.
No more Discworld. I'm depressed.
