[Rework Suggestion] Yorick the Gravedigger WIP

Hello, and welcome to my Yorick rework suggestion. The way I wanted to change Yorick was emphasizing the ghouls and make them feel like they had identities of their own and more visibility on what they do. Instead of ghoul boosting Yorick trough his old passive, this Yorick tries to fight with his Ghouls and they bring more utility than previous ghouls to make up for some of the lost Combat stats in his old passive/ultimate.

As for most of the stats and numbers on abilities they are tentative or left open on purpose so we could debate on what would be the appropriate resource gating or power budget.

Passive: Unholy Covenant

Yorick can mark himself or his allies with the "unholy covenant" by using a champion selection. He can only mark 1 ally or himself and the marking process take "X" seconds.

if a marked target dies within the range of "Omen of death" they will reanimate to full health and fight for "X/X/X/X" more seconds depending on how many ranks are put in "Omen of Death".

Cooldown: "X/X/X/X" Seconds when reaching level 1/6/11/16

This is the substitute for his passive and ultimate. The reason for this change is to differentiate him from Zilean and Mordekaiser. Instead of this being a clutch ability and control a clone ability its become a more strategic ability that can be overcome by destroying "The omen of death". This also makes the reviving process slightly less hit or miss because it will only work if the target dies near the "omen of death" so instead of being punished because the allied ADC survived to long, but died just after the buff expire this iteration will boil down to if "omen of death" is present or not.

This also gives Yorick options if he wants to be a team fighter and placing his passive on allies or to be a split push threat and place it on himself.


R: Omen of Death This ability is available at level 1.

Yorick Summons a Mausoleum at target location spewing up dirt thus creating a "smokescreen" effect around it in a X/X/X/X radius for "X/X/X/X" seconds. The Mausoleum summons continuously small ghouls that seek out only minions and monsters(they don't damage structures). The Mausoleum is also where his basic ability "special ghouls" come from that never targets minions.

The Mausoleum will stay indefinitely in the same location unless re-summoned or destroyed.
If the Mausoleum is destroyed anything that requires "Omen of death" to work will stop working and Yorick will take X/X/X/X true health damage.

Think of "Omen of deaths Mausoleum" as some kind of portal that all Yoricks ghouls come from. This is made so that he has to place his R more aggressively if want the ghouls to do their thing earlier. This is to counter play his earlier play pattern of just spamming ghouls ontop of the enemy. The enemy know where they come from and can work around it and punish Yorick.

The smaller ghouls are there to help Yoricks "pushing and ghoul/necromancer" feeling. They are in a sense a dual edged sword as they will autopush for you, but in return you become good at pushing. This was added because now his special ghouls don't attack minions anymore.

Q: Omen of War

ACTIVE: Yorick's next basic attack within 10 seconds deals bonus physical damage. BONUS PHYSICAL DAMAGE: 30 / 60 / 90 / 120 / 150 (+ 20% AD) Omen of War resets Yorick's autoattack timer.

If it last hits a minion it will reduce its cooldown by 30%

If "Omen of death is up" summon a "war ghoul" from the Mausoleum. War ghoul is summoned regardless if you perform the attack or not. You can have up to 3 war Ghouls on the battlefield at a time.

The "War Ghoul" is a slow melee fighter with high health and uses sword and shield to continuously auto attack the enemy. War Ghouls attack the one you auto attack or the nearest enemy champion.

Not much has changed ability wise except I added an incentive to last hit with it and spawn the new type of Ghoul up faster. This Ghoul is meant to be a means to deal sustained damage and be more hard/tanky to remove than the other 2 ghouls, but are more kitable.


W: Omen of Pestilence

Yorick curses an enemy champion reducing their movement speed by 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds. If the "Pestilence Ghoul" reaches the cursed target within "X" seconds it will deal 60/95/130/165/200(+ 100% AD) and they become rooted for 1.5 seconds, if the target wasn't cursed but was hit by the Ghoul they will be slowed for 20/25/30/35/40% for 1.5 seconds. If it doesn't reach any enemy within "X" seconds it will explode where it stands.

If "Omen of death is up" Summon a "pestilence ghoul" from the Mausoleum

Pestilence ghoul is a fast moving homing(think how Nocturne ultimate works) assassin ghoul with two daggers that explodes upon contact with enemy champion. The Pestilence ghoul will only chase the champ with the W curse, but can be blocked.

This Ghouls identity is that its an Assassin and you can only have 1 of this on the battlefield at the time. The idea is that Yorick slows the target and this ghoul comes flying in to do damage. If Yorick has placed the "Omen of death" poorly the ghoul will just explode along the way. This Ghoul can also be blocked by enemy champions. This serves as Yorick burst ability.

E: Omen of Famine

ACTIVE: Yorick deals magic damage to target location(functions like brand W Pillar of flame) and heals himself for X/X/X/X/X% of the damage done. MAGIC DAMAGE: 55 / 85 / 115 / 145 / 175 + (+ 100% AP)

If "omen of death is up" Summon a "Famine ghoul" and summon additional Famine ghouls for each enemy champion hit up to 3 ghouls from the Mausoleum.

Famine ghoul is a low health mage type Ghoul that is immune to spells and spelldamage that tries to channel onto the nearest enemy champion reducing their strongest offensive trait by X/X/X/X/X%. If there are multiple Famine Ghouls they will still latch on the nearest enemy champion, but they wont debuff the target anymore than 1 famine ghoul would, but the enemy has to remove multiple ghouls to get rid of the debuff.

You might have noticed that I have changed the slow ability to scale with AD and the Heal ability with AP and this is intentional. Since Yorick is mainly a AD and will build AD I wanted to give him a heal that doesn't scale well unless he uses it well. This is why it is turned into an AOE so he is rewarded for hitting multiple stuff with it, but gets punished for missing.

only problem i have with this, is push yorick.... having him with his ult and item 3512 could be too oppressive, and the fact that you can just hide it under a turret at a safe point away from the enemy.

I always thought that yorick needs to ditch the ghouls (no pun intended), and have them be thematic instead of detrimental.

Thematically i feel he needs to have a coffin on his back, having some abilities interact with the coffin, and his lantern i always feel needed something to make it truly special.

His passive should involve the kindred system in some form, having the assumed passive above could work very well, but on the flip side, would it be nice to give him a stacking aspect from death on the fields? minions that die within x seconds buff some sort of aspect of him. even a stacking buff almost like a Varus, but instead you get lifesteal as long as kill things within the duration up to a cap of some %

Q should just be a simple steroid ability, vs the idea of spawning a ghoul. or even make it a charge up ability, you can either charge it up to have an explosion of aoe damage, or prematurly detonate it for less damge but be able to land it like a Maokai sapling.

W should involve his lantern bit, spitting noxious fluid onto the target in a cone out from yorick, applying a DoT poison.

Change his e to a line skillshot, like zyra's e, that brings up a line of zombie arms from the ground and root all in the line for a brief moment. Famine, souls grip from the abyss to feast onto the living, trying to drag them down.

Instead of a coffin, make the passive a mausoleum. It makes more sense for the kit in general. Besides that, I like this idea.

And, if nothing else comes of this post, the small ghoul should definitely be what Yorick's ghouls look like when he gets reworked.

I love your idea for his R, it makes him a lot cooler and emphasizes his role as a sort of "ghoul army" commander.

I'm not entirely sold on some of the specifics that the certain ghouls do (are they auto targeted (bad) or directable? Does Yorick still get any additional fighter traits from having ghouls up? Does it make really meaningful play patterns for Yorick and his opponent?)

It's a great concept though and I think it has a lot of potential.

Your E (Omen of Famine) is described similar to Swain's Q which is a single target ability, meaning it only hits one champion. Do you instead mean: "Summon additional ghouls for each time the enemy champion takes damage, up to 3 ghouls from the Mausoleum"?

This would make more sense, and also Swain's Q does only tick 3 times, meaning you get the perfect ghoul coverage.

Edit: Responding to someone else's comment, but I can only guess that special ghouls will attack/target with enemy that was hit its corresponding ability (QWE). However, I can see them retargeting if Yorick is attacking a champion.

I feel like his kit should be more akin to HoTS's Witch Doctor, Nazeembo.
