URGOT - Why Riot is wrong about his design.

They said his design was a mistake, and they claim his ugly appearance is directly responsible for his unpopularity.

Meanwhile, Pudge is the most popular hero in all of Dota 2 and has been for a long-ass time.

His kit makes no sense. That is why he is bad. He was built as an anti-adc but has bad range, a shitty shield and an ult that puts him in the middle of the team fight and likely to die immediately unless he built tanky and a tanky Urgot is even more useless than damage Urgot.

Pudge has ugly cute going on, or a so ugly that it is cute kind of thing. http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/UglyCute

Urgot doesn't.

his design is horrible and has no direction, its only slightly more cohesive than some of the original 40.

There used to be a day when Urgot was insanely strong. At one point Gambit said that Urgot Soraka was an unbeatable bottom lane. Then because his play was so overwhelming he got hit with the nerf bat so hard that he hasn't recovered since season 1. If you watch people who do 1v1's regularly he's a popular pick because he is an amazing duelist if played properly. His Q has spamable long range with high base damage and decent scaling. His W works great with resistances which are gained through his ult as well as keeping people within his medium range and his E not only has a massive armor shred and decent dot but guarantees q's landing. The issues with his kit is that a lot of it is currently outdated and hasn't been given any love in those years. The reason Riot might accuse his lack of strength on popularity is because they honestly fix the champions that are popular to play and Urgot hasn't been popular in quite a long time.
