Congrats everyone! Draven approves of everyone's entries for the most part, and congratulates you on an amazing performance.

The August results are out for the CCOS!

First though, let's say thank you to the judges of this month!

Echoing, say hi! Or, be your aggressive self. We aren't picky. :P BigBenClockTower, oh yeah! I actually got to participate this month! Though some of my accounts for stuff were hacked, so no spreadsheet access, I did copy my notes to a notepad, so I can share my feedback if asked. I still added the scores from myself and Echoing together.

Echoing took the time to judge each concept this month, as well as deliver awesome feedback. Give this guy applause, since this month would not have have happened as readily without 'im!

So with that finished, the winner of the August CCOS is....

#Xifeng, the Unbreaking by Raxistaicho with a score of 204/220!

Congratulations! You'll be getting your prize medal gif (if I can find the one the good Sir used) later on!

|Place|-----------------------------Concept----------------------------------|------------Author-------------|---------Score-------- |- |2 | Rei, the Will of the Divine | Vorazun | 202/220 | |3 | Kilbracht, the Greatsword | Gault Leader | 188/220 | |4 | Ingrid, the Ashen Witch | OrionTheHunter | 172/220 | |5 | Kal'Mar, the Runeborn | python 159 | 159/220 |

Don't fret if you didn't make the leaderboards, you'll still be entered into the CCOS Official Archive provided I figure out how to edit it (or perhaps I'll just start a new one I control) as well as get some nice feedback to your concept from this month's judges.

I goofed this month and put the Bonus Category on the scoresheet as being out of 25. It's actually out of 10. As for scoresheets, I'm still trying to solve an issue of hacked accounts, so my sheet is unavailable (though I did complete it; ask me in this thread if you want my feedback specifically. I did add scores together though between me and Echoing). Apologies. Our other judge this month had some medical issues to attend to as well, so they were unable to do scoring. Keep your thoughts with them through this time however! They need it!

Find your concept's feedback from Echoing's view here! How to navigate it:

  1. Click the link (duh).
  2. Page 1 (Judging) is where the specific feedback is for each entrant.

Be sure to tell me of you have any trouble accessing the document, I'll be sure to help out as much as I can (and can show you your score directly along with Echoing if needed). Echoing should also be hovering around here for most of the week to answer any questions you may have for him regarding scores and feedback (if he didn't already share it in the appropriate box or threads).

I'm already getting the September CCOS ready to go! I need both judges and concepts, so get your stuff ready! If you're interested in judging for September, please E-Mail me at "[email protected]" with your in game name. Otherwise if you're interested in entering, be sure your concept is posted in August or September, and has not been entered into a CCOS prior!

The September CCOS will be opening up for entries next Monday, the 5th of September, so keep an eye out for the entry post then! NOTE: There will be no bonus categories or anything next month, just raw talent and skills on display! That doesn't mean we don't critique each other though!

Keep at it guys!

How Not To Have Echoing Dumpster Your Lore Score:

Step 1: Never, ever mention the League of Legends. Step 2: EVER. Step 3: Stay the hell away from champions with well-defined lores. Step 4: Explain as much as you can about your champion - origin, source of power, motivations. Step 5: Don't write a single paragraph and call it a lore.

About all the low Lore scores I put down missed a step and fell down the Staircase of Eternal Agony.

I've always been super picky with Lore, but that generally stems from how most people either ignore the current lore and assume the League of Legends is still canon (it's not) or try to shoehorn their champion into another champion's story. The latter attempt is possible to do right (I did it with Koridan two months ago), but requires great care to capture the champion's original personality and motivations (Koridan got wrecked by Azir, who being an emperor of a stupidly strong nation does a lot of wrecking and wouldn't really be out of the ordinary). Most times, I see someone trying to tie in another champion to their lore and can't help but wince since it takes that champion out of character or ruins the point of their story.

I'd recommend rereading Taric's lore if you're still stuck on this point here. It mirrors this stuff done right - it references Garen (a champion with a so-far-undeveloped lore) as a friend, but keeps him in a commanding capability that has him struggle with both his bonds to duty and friendship (very Garen things to do), and doesn't actually make him the focal point of Taric's story, only the catalyst for why Taric has to scale Mount Targon.

Also, if you're entering the contest, a single paragraph is never, ever sufficient for a good score. If you can't come up with at least three to explain how your champion got here, you probably need to enter a different guy, since you not getting enthused enough for that is a problem.

Alright, I'll specify my thoughts on the ratings here. Thanks for the feedback Echoing, I'll do better next time.

Overall I was kind of disappointed. I thought I would get at least top 5, but I guess I'll have to work harder for the next one.

I do dislike putting numbers on my concepts because they can always be changed in patches, so I don't think you should put too much effort in them. I did put some numbers in my last concept though, and will do so in the future. I was creating a whole awesome like 2 page lore in my microsoft word, but it got so stressing and boring honestly so I decided to just put a short lore -- like all newer champions have before they get their full bio.

Later on, I reworked and tweaked his kit a bit to push him away from the whole "support melee botlaners" thing before the judging started, so there is one mistake there if I can correct. I'll revisit the idea in the future, so you'll see a better one eventually.

I hope you'll have a wonderful day.

Conflabulations Raxistaicho! With the amount of work you put in, you definitely deserve it.

Well, I expected as much. I've been sloppy the past two months...Life happened or I just got demotivated and just gave up on the concept. I wasn't even entirely sure about the whole concept anyway. I think im gonna skip a month and think about what what my next concept is gonna be, before entering the CCOS. I'm sorry for all the nice people that gave me feedback but didn't receive any in return. I WILL remember and give you feedback next time :)

IT GOT THIRD! WHAT! YAAAAY!

Congrats to everyone who made the leader boards, and best of luck to everyone who did not make it this time!

Ben, if I could get your feedback that would be awesome, want to know how I can improve on things for my next champion as much as possible.

I prolly kind of broke your rule of don't use other champions in your lore, Echoing. Kind of forced Fiora into mine :P

Raxistaicho9/1/2016, 6:10:29 PM1 votes

o.e I won? I figure Xifeng was too flawed from a gameplay perspective to win, I just wanted to find some advice to improve her.

To Echoing

(I can't read all of the feedback glares at BigBen so i'll talk about what i can read.)

The formatting is how i like it, its a hell of a lot better then what it was.

I don't care if his CC comes later on, that is the point! I want to make champions that break away from what others in their class do, peeling assassins off his teams squishes was not supposed to be kal'mar's concern, charging the enemey squishes and battering them is. Sion's is delayed as well if you need evidence of this phenomenon.

Lore, I've said it once and i'll say it again, I'm absolute shit at it. Please don't go looking for the personallity in the lore, it's not there. Please refer to the quotes for the who and the why, its easier for me that way.

From python159-designer for kal'mar the runeborn

P.S I'm sorry if I sound unappreciative of the time you put into this, I truly do appreciate any feedback given as i'm sure many others do. I just wish to see more judges participate in CCOS so we may have a more diverse set of opinions to move forward with, one man's view is just not enough to improve something so inherently subjective.

Raxistaicho9/5/2016, 11:11:29 PM1 votes

Oh, Big Ben, please share your thoughts on Xifeng as well.

OrionTheHunter9/1/2016, 8:56:22 AM1 votes

BBCT, can I have your feedback on Ingrid?

Vorazun9/1/2016, 11:03:33 AM1 votes

Always...so...close...

Congratulations to Raxistaicho for an excellent concept :)

I'd also like to see the BigBen's feedback as well!
