The streets of Bilgewater are no place for the kind-hearted. Walking down the wrong alley could land a knife in your belly faster than you can turn around. Yet, since he was but a lad, Skurr has been on his own since he can remember. As a young boy, Skurr survived the streets of Bilgewater for years by eating scraps and drinking the remaining swigs of rum from deserted bottles. One night, while his tiny fingers were busily untying a coin purse from an inebriated scallywag, Skurr overheard a single word hover from a roaring bunch. "Treasure". Skurr's mind raced at the thought of riches. He would ever have to eat scraps again, and he should have all the rum he pleased! So, at 9 years old, the young Skurr stowed away on a ship to fulfill his dream of finding riches and leaving behind the life of poverty. He was aboard for a month before he was discovered and put to work as a cabin boy. Skurr saw much of Runeterra by his teens. When he was 12, Skurr boarded a Yordle vessel off the coast of Piltover in hopes of pirating some hex-tech merchandise. As he ran back to his ship with a promising crate, a young yordle girl came around the corner with a rocket-gun twice her size. Skurr laughed as the young yordle tried lifting the gun to him, and lumbered up to her chuckling to himself. But as he got close, the young girl fired the gun, barely missing Skurr and blew a whole in the deck of the yordle ship before flying off into the water. Skurr opened the crate when he got on board his ship, and found only rum inside. Skurr lost a few limbs and body parts in a terrible cannon blast when he was just 13. His right leg was blown off right above the knee, and some shrapnel hit one of his good friends a little higher. Skurr won his first title as "Captain of the Ruckus" at 15 years old; and has been back to successfully re-claim his title 5 times since, all with with the help of his trusted peg-leg. One well-placed kick from "Princess" would send a man flying from the crow's nest. Many pirates took to calling him "Matchstick" when his leg caught fire from some lay-around flint, but he continued to kick anyways- knocking everyone off and cancelling the tournament that year.
When Skurr was 26, his ship was boarded by the Demacian Navy, who were seeking answers for their cargo ship, the Excursion. The officer in charge took Skurr aside and interrogated him for hours. Skurr had been traveling near the Frejlord when it happened, and he knew the cause of the Demacian ship's destruction (being that he manned the crow's nest). But, Skurr said nothing about it. Instead, he made jokes and told irrelevant stories. The officer became frustrated with Skurr, but decided the pirate had nothing to do with the wreckage- he grabbed the bottle of rum from Skurr's hand and smashed it to the floor. As he left he said over his shoulder, "I will find out who did this". Some time later, Skurr managed to snag a large haul of Shuriman artifacts- though the details remain foggy. Now Skurr has become wealthier than he could imagine, but it still isn't enough. With a new spark in his eye, Skurr heads to the League of Legends, in search of glory beyond riches.

Skurr is also black. League of Legends needs a little more variety. I started Skurr because the lack of pirates- and I just thought 'pirate' which usually comes to me as a white person. So- why the f*k not make a black pirate?
