The ruined King
So there's the post about the ruined king, and it got me reading into it a little. I do enjoy the Lore but I haven't read a ton, so please correct me on bits that are off.
To me it seems that the basis of it is that you have Morde that ravages the land, dies and comes back, dies again and gets split apart. His head is brought to the Blessed Isles to keep him at bay. Some point later on, King & Queen are doing their thing, Kalista at some point ends up poisoning the Queen on accident so the king sends Kalista out to find a way to save her. Long story short: Kalista takes the King to the Blessed isles to revive the queen, battle ensues with the King's side victorious and he tries to resurrect the Queen and ends up as an abomination. The queen abomination wants to just die again, so the King tries to do that and ends up fusing with her.
That's a pretty summed up version of what I read (from the Wiki, since it seems to be pretty spread out) and I was thinking a King champion wouldn't be bad. I know a ton of people think that too, but here's my take on it:
He's a king, so his abilities are all based on control, either controlling minions/champions, controlling vision or even objectives.
P: Espionage: When leaving allied fountain, grants vision of all enemy structures for 3/5/8 seconds. (60 second cooldown)
Q: ** Barracade: Grants a shield for turrets (+2/4/6/8/10 armor) that increase turret attack speed (10/15/20/25/30% increase) for 10 seconds, decreasing by 0.5sec each time it's hit. If cast on enemy turret, decreases attack speed by 10/15/20/25/30%. _Renown:**_ Starts at 200% buff/de-buff, decreasing to 100% over 5 seconds (final 5 seconds at 100% buff/de-buff)
W: ** King's Command: Turns an enemy against their own team for 2/3.5/5/6.5/8 seconds. (The opposite of a stun, forces enemies to fight their own side, the monster/champion would behave as AI controlled, including using abilities and carrying movement and pushing lanes). If cast on an allied champion or minion increases armor, MR, health regen and mana regen by 1.5/3/4.5/6/7.5% for 3 seconds. _Renown:**_ can be cast on enemy champion, lasts half length.
E: King's Favor: Passive: 1/3/5 gold per allied minion slain within range (relatively small range). Active: Increases gold dropped by minions in target area by 1/3/6/10/15 gold per kill, works on both allied and enemy minions, lasts for 2/2.5/3/3.5/4 seconds. Renown: increases passive range to global for same length of time.
R: Renown: The next ability has global range and increased.
The king would be Mana based, melee, and carry the BotRK. His basic attack wouldn't be incredibly useful, and he can have a base LS of 5%, but he will have lower base health and armor. The role would mostly be something different, like a support carry but could also be used in a single lane (like top). Might even be useful in a jungle.
The kit he has is pretty generic, so the build path would be pretty optional. He wouldn't make use of on-hit, so defensive or AS would probably be best. I tried to put the work in that each ability has a way it can be used for good and bad (and in combination with others), but really his abilities would be aiding other champions more than doing things himself. I think this would be a great way to do a 'support' character that is more than support.
He wouldn't be included in the fight as much, which might make him a good jungler, but the amount he could influence a game would be tremendous. His kit is based on controlling towers, minions/champions and gold with his ultimate giving him global presence (combined with the passive could be interesting). His abilities aren't used directly on champions as much so this type of character would need to manipulate the game to win, which is what a King would do. The passive would be cool, but wouldn't serve as too much more than a bonus when you recall (combined with other champion's globals though it could make it meaningful). The gold generation is small, but he can increase gold for allies and be able to help certain champs get fed (and if used wrong could give the enemy more gold) and giving it global after level 6 could mean that a support King could give top lane more gold and more pressure (or debuff a tower in another lane).
By the way, I'm picturing all of this wielded by a king that looks like King Tryndamere, but I think something else would be better. This would pretty much be the pre-ruined king, and I think a death animation with the queen would be cool. Then add in the release skin of the Ruined King skin that is once he is corrupted.
Anyway, ideas?
Edit: this should be more of "The Great King" before he was ruined. I know he's ruined now, but by the Lore... Kalista is dead. So, maybe we can just stick with an older version of him.
