A little disappointed with the direction of Forsaken Jayce (story wise / theme wise)

First and foremost I just want to say that the skin and the splash do look / sound great. When i first heard of and saw the skin I was really looking forwards to it. It looked like an awesome twist on Jayce's lore. (again still looking forward to it)

From Jayce's lore > Word of the crystal's potential reached beyond the borders of Piltover. ViktorSquare.png Viktor, the machine-augmented scientist from Zaun, brought Jayce an offer – together, they could use the crystal to advance his "glorious evolution," a vision of humanity fused with technology. Jayce refused, but the Zaunite had no intention of leaving empty handed.

The skin concept with the dark theme and partial metal augmentations some stuff on the arm but obviously not to the extent of VIktor himself, made it look like an alternate twist on the lore, an alternate reality where he joined Viktor and helped him design the the battle cast and creator augmentations. This could have also opened a window for a Viktor skin where he apears as more of "hero" then villain. Though truth be told, although certainly not good I don't see him as a major villain in the lore.

Though now it looks like Riot has cemented him as the Star Wars counter part for Jedi Yi with a hint of marvels Ronan the Accuser. (don't get me wrong here I love star wars and respect the marvel reference)

I just personally find it a bit of a letdown here, seems like a huge missed opportunity could have put some unique quotes towards Vik and other battle cast creations and so on. The Skin looks awesome next to Creator Viktor as well (I have plans for a Jayce / Vik bot lane upon release). The Star Wars counterpart could have easily been done (and arguably better) on a different champion . As for the Ronan reference that's solid and using that as some design inspiration / reference is actually solid, hit two birds with one stone and all.

What are some other thoughts on this? Just me overreacting or anyone else think they could have taken that route?
