Not spell vamp
Make AP items with life steal
Split the life steal section in the shop to Magical Life steal (AP life steal items) and Physical Life steal (AD life steal items)
Maybe give them special unique Passives related to spells to make them appealing to Mages since Life steal and some offensive mage stats aren't too appealing on their own

Spell vamp is healing from abilities
Life steal is from AA
This is to encourage AA weaving between abilities

Because I've also think of Mage doing damage with AA. Like this Concept.

Which is why spell vamp was a bit problematic (and cause of Vlad)
But with lifesteal their sustain is bound to Auto Attacks, something that Mages only occasionally weave into ability combos (unless your name is Twisted Fate or Kayle then it's a big part of you damage) so these items will make AAing as a mage more rewarding when done right
