Before you read I want to thank you for clicking on my creation as it took me a lot of thought to make it as different as possible and I eagerly welcome any and all constructive criticism.

_There are many who would be quick to claim that an assassin's greatest attribute is their ability to quickly annihilate their pray before they even know what hit them, but known would expect that arguably the most skilled assassin in Runeterra would be one that ends your life from miles away. Armed with nothing but a relic weapon of immensely dark properties and a inhumane sense of infallible accuracy, Esotera uses both these tools at her disposal to cut a gaping hole through the heads of all who oppose her. _

_Even as a young girl there was something about Esotera that even the most inattentive of eyes could see. A promising student taking residence in the Ionian School Of Marksmanship, Esotera inspired both envy, fear, and astonishment into her peers and superiors with her profound abilities as an marksman. Every shot she would take would be complete perfection in every sense of the word, and it was evident that Esotera was aspiring to be one of the greatest marksman the school has known. On the night before her final trial as a marksman a squadron of assassins came to the school and massacred every student and teacher in their sleep, leaving only Esotera to wake in horror at the bodies of deceased victims. Before she could even attempt to make her escape she was approached by none other then the Master of Shadows himself and then taken against her will to a secret chamber located in the heart of the school. In this accursed chamber a dark artifact stood dormant in the center, surrounded by a plethora of dark magics that even began to inspire dread in Zed's ninjas. When she was told she had to open it she refused and then was shown one of her former peers with a katana to his neck with other figures with their faces covered, indicating that these assassins were going to force her to watch the carnage of each and everyone of their deaths until she opened the artifact. Esotera reluctantly went to the weapon and released it from his shadowy bondage as both her students and the assassins watched in amazement as the shadow energy began to engulf her body into a cloud before vanishing completely, taking Esotera with it. _

_Days passed and Esotera finally awakened in a desolate forest, alone while also being physically and mentally changed. Before she could even puzzle together what happened she began to see visions of past students being forced to attempt to overcome that dark and twisted magic while at the same time being overwhelmed by it. It was revealed to her at last that the true purpose of the school was not to find the best archer, but to find the one archer who was worthy enough to wield the magics contained and then kill them, effectively ending the threat that the magics potentially posed to the outside world. Now enlightened and seeking justice on the ninjas who ruined her existence, Esotera has joined the ranks of the League of Legends to assassinate the master of assassins himself, Zed. Only when Zed is lying lifeless on the floor like the tons of other victims he left will Esotera be free. _


Abilities

**Play style Overview **

Esotera, unlike most other marksman, is made to function as a near completely immobile carry that specializes in long range and utility to quickly obliterate her enemies. While most other marksman need to be on the move constantly to deal their damage through kiting, Esotera is the one exception as she wants to remain immobile to deal the most damage she possibly can.

Passive - Way Of The Observer

  • Infallibility: Esotera is more precise with shots against targets that are unwary of her presence and as a result deals 0.40% increased damage for every 5 units a target is away from her.
  • Marksmanship: Esotera's Sniper Rifle, The Observant, requires a 1.25 second channel time before performing every basic attack and this channel time can only be used while immobile, however she can move freely during the last 0.25 seconds of a channel. Additionally, Esotera's bonus attack speed from leveling, items, runes, and masteries can greatly reduce the duration of the channel time to 0.5 seconds. This channel time only applies when attacking enemy champions and epic monsters, as Esotera puts more precision into her shots against powerful adversaries.
  • Type: Passive

Q - Accursed Shot

Active: Esotera fires a beam of shadow energy in a line that deals physical damage and applies on-hit effects to the first enemy unit struck. If this ability strikes an enemy champion they will be cursed for 2 seconds, reducing their armor and magic resist and causing them to take magic damage whenever they use a basic attack or ability. Additionally, if this ability is used while in cover the duration of the curse is doubled.

  • Physical Damage: 20/40/60/80/100 (+100% AD)
  • Curse Magic Damage: 30/60/90/120/150 (+45% AP)
  • Armor & Magic Resist Shred: 10%/15%/20%/25%/30%

  • Cool Down: 10 Seconds
  • Mana: 40/50/60/70/80

**W - Dark Escape **

Active: _Esotera rushes into the shadows to quickly appear at the target location and then empowers her next 2 basic attacks to have no channel time and deal bonus physical damage equal to 25% of her AD. If this ability is used while Shadow Cover is active it will cause her to appear at the location inside cover. Additionally, while in Shadow Cover any enemy units that are within a 200-radius of Esotera when she blinks will be stunned for 1 second. _

  • Type: Ground Targeted Blink With An Auto Attack Modifying Component
  • Range: 525
  • Cool Down: 17/16.5/16/15.5/14 Seconds
  • Mana: 50/60/70/80/90

**E - Repelling Shadow **

Passive: _Esotera's basic attacks while in Shadow Cover will deal bonus magic damage and slow her target for 2 seconds. This effect can only occur on the same target once every few seconds and basic attacks against targets already affected will reduce the amount of time they are further immune to this passive by 1 second. _

Active: _Esotera fires a shadow from her sniper rifle which deals magic damage to a single enemy unit and knocks them back 400 units over the course of -0.5seconds. If this ability is used while in Shadow Cover the shadow will then bind to their feet, immobilizing them for the following second. _

**R - Shadow Cover **

Active: _Esotera activates her Shadow Cover, becoming rooted indefinitely. While in cover she gains bonus damage reduction, attack and cast range, and bonus effects on all of her basic abilities. Additionally while in Shadow Cover basic attacks will reduce the cool down of all of her basic abilities by 1 second. Shadow Cover also surrounds Esotera in a cloak of dark energy which prevents any and all non-ultimate targeted dashes from being used against her. _

  • Damage Reduction: 10%/15%/20%/25% (Scales At Levels 1,6,11,16)
  • Bonus Attack & Cast Range: 50/100/150/200 (Scales At Levels 1,6,11,16)

Tips

**Playing As **

  • Mastering how to position yourself in Shadow Cover is key because your damage and utility massively increases while in cover, using it foolishly can result in you having to expose yourself for 5 seconds which is enough time for you to be completely eliminate from a fight.

  • Esotera is best used as a back liner to her main front-line, as her front line can ensure any extremely dangerous threats are locked down for execution and her back-back line (extremely pokey mages and marksman like Ezreal and Xerath) can ensure she's not extremely exposed to potential assassins waiting. This is because while in Shadow Cover her own increases so there is no need for her to be extremely far from a fight and likewise extremely close.

**Playing With **

  • Esoterta's main strength is her ability to free cast her auto attacks from a safe distance without any interruptions from the enemy team and for this reason champions that specify in locking down are her best ally.

  • Esotera damage greatly escalates based off how far her enemy is away from her therefore champions that can quickly dislocate an enemy team (Janna) can greatly turn the tide of a fight.

**Playing Against **

  • While Esotera is formidable a formidable advensary for a marksman when she's in cover, she's still extremely vulnerable to assassins especially stealth-based (Shaco) that can delete her from a fight before herself or her team can react.

  • Esotera's strength lies in her ability to free cast her auto attacks with interruption of relocating due to a fight coming to her, as those 5 seconds without cover leave her immensely vulnerable. Because of this factor, teams that can easily relocate around a battle field are best against her.

Best Potential Items

item 3153 : Attack speed reduce the channel time, life steal is a near necessity on all AD based champions, and the on-hit effect component only greater her as a threat therefore Blade Of The Ruined King is a core item.

item 3094 : Only makes her stronger as a sharp shooter and increases her effectiveness in large scale team fights as relocating is her one counter in a fight and causes her to need to exit cover which leaves her vulnerable.

item 3031 : Near necessity on all marksman, only increases her damage massively.

item 3072 : As Esotera is a champion that will be nearly immobile for the majority of a given fight, the added life steal and shield component only helps to increase her survivability while immobile.

item 3026 : Esotera is a champion that can be prone to just blown up without much retaliation even while in cover, Guardian Angel helps to prevent that while also granting her a second chance and a moment for her team to defend her location while she's reviving.

Hi!

Even though the review comment wasn't directed at me, I felt like it'd be great to help out a fellow concepter, so here are my thoughts!

Passive: Quite a unique and thematic ability, focusing on slow but damaging shots, but I recommend changing it to only channeling when hitting champions. This is because it might be very difficult to last-hit, and may be near unplayable in lane while offering too big of a counterplay window, which is unfun. It does scale down with AS, which is great for the later parts of the game, but having it early on would effectively place a delay of 1.25 + (1/Current AS) which could almost be 3 seconds between AAs.

Q: Quite neat. My only gripe with it is that it deals magic damage. There isn't really a reason for this, except that it is hard to itemise to make it hit through the enemies resistances. Marksmen who have magic damage often have it as part of utility (the reason why it works on the E), like MF, or who are designed around it, like Corki. I would recommend changing it to physical

W: Somewhat counterintuitive, given that your ultimate makes you stand still. It would be better to define a single identity for this champion. If you are hell-bent on keeping it though, I recommend raising the cooldown somewhat. Currently, it's longer than Ezreal's jump with a shorter CD than it too. Lack of mobility is a suitable weakness for a sniper champion.

E: Another on-hit effect. While these synergise well with each other, it gets somewhat repititive, and doesn't add much, if any gameplay value for the opponent. The active is fine, but I'm not quite sure how the knockback over 1 second would work. It seems like a very curious idea, but some clarification would be nice. Also the passive only affects the ultimate, but for some reason is on the E. Perhaps move it?

R: Certainly a functional ability, but somewhat underwhelming for an ultimate. I recommend completely removing the damage reduction because ADCs are traditionally squishy (and Graves compensates in other ways for being tanky).

In general, this is a good kit, but I recommend moving power from the various on-hits available to some more active abilities as there is very little gameplay right now. It's definitely a functional kit, but there aren't very many highs or lows when playing Esotera, which I feel is unfortunate because I feel that there is definitely room for this to be an excellent concept.

I also recommend taking part in this month's CCOS. You can get quality feedback from judges and other contestants, and is a pretty fun thing to do. You have the minimum requirements of a lore and a kit, with some nice little extras, so definitely keep an eye out foor that!

Passive: 48% damage increase against max range champions, 60% with rapidfire cannon, and 76% with a max rank ulti and rapidfire. That seriously hurts, but since you are trading off the ability to kite, that is fine. Q: So, a 3 hit spell with % HP Damage? I am fine with it, but we see a lot of those. W: no problems here, a nice little blink into a doubleshot. E: Pretty nice slow, and I like the off-build potential R: I like that, but we had something like that in the past: old Xerath. Notice how no one played him and he got a rework.

You have asked, and so shall ye receive!

Lore: Hmm.. this is... odd. Theres quite a few inconsistencies, and a few strange points arise. If she didn't want to be in the School of Defense, why didn't she just leave by herself? Nothing indicates she was forced to stay there. When she was banished, where did the crossbow pop up from? Did she make it? Find it? Was given it? Zed's whole interaction also threw me for a loop. Remember, it's important to note that Zed is not 'evil', or even malicious. He chose a path shunned by many simply for the power. He's only interested in mastery and strength. For him to actually turn someone to the dark side, physically even, is not in his character. More so because your champion isn't a ninja.

Passive - Definitely interesting, can't say I've seen its kind before. I'd increase her basic attack range considerably though, maybe to 600, and adjust the damage bonus to compensate. She's going to have a hard enough time farming in lane as it is, she doesn't need to be in the same range as everyone else to do so.

Q - I'm assuming you mean she empower her next basic attack WITHIN 5 seconds. For 5 seconds implies its active for the duration of 5 seconds, which would be pretty odd. More to the point, this ability needs... something. Right now, it's literally nothing more than an AA upgrade. Which gets the job done, but is also quite stale. It needs something to give it charm, pizzazz, interest. Maybe it gives a bonus to crit. Or something. It's your ability.

W - I have no problems with this ability. Simple, ties in well with the rest of her kit, and seems to be effective in what it does

E - You need to specify the duration for the slow. 'Short' can still mean a lot, and theres a considerable difference between a 1 second slow and a 1.5 second slow.

R - Alright, this ability is definitely on the overloaded side. While the self root is a good drawback, it still gives her damage reduction, bonus range, CD reduction, dash immunity, and even general cc immunity. For no cost and a 5 second cooldown? Either something has to go, or a lot of numbers need to be changed. Greatly increased cd, mana per second, etc. I'd also remove having it from level 1.. 100 range leads to some extreme zoning in the laning.

Overall - Definitely a solid idea. You have the sniper theme down pretty well. The only MAJOR point of concern is her ultimate, and maybe some tuning on her Q. Keep up the good work!

Very well thought creation, i must say as an ADC main. However, I do have some concerns regarding the "lack of mobility". The whole goal of an ADC is to jump quickly and out of action, while dealing seemingly crucial damage to their carrys and occasionally tanks. On the contrary, this is a very unique idea and i would be glad to support it. Also, on another note, me and my friends happen to be creating a character of our own, and were wondering if you could help out/draw the concept art

Overall, great job and idea, and i look forward to seeing it in the future.
