Hey everyone! BowietheNifty here just to bring another one of my champions. Well technically this is a rework of an older champion concept I created. While working on the latest series of champions I sometimes need a small break. During this time I sort of had some inspiration to come back and work on this guy here. He is one of the champion that had quite a bit of problems with him. Mainly it was revolving around his passive that caused him the pain. His ult was the second major issue. It was over complicated and dull at the same time. So I have reworked them a little bit to not only make him not so complicated and have a bit more redefined ultimate. All the abilities have been tweaked a due to these changes. Feedback is always appreciated! If anyone wishes to see the original they may do so here. Looks like I decided to do my annual Kulden rework. Got to put enough reworks on this guy to match Ryze. Hopefully this makes the kit a bit better over all.

Kulden, The Frostbitten Blade

Updates 1/12/17 ]New innate passive, "Chilling Strikes" changed from "Mana Shards" ]Old Q Chilling Strike converted to Innate passive and tweaked for it accordingly ]Q is replaced by old W Splintering Ice ]Splintering Ice's first hit damage changed to 45/60/75/90/105(+70% AD)(+20% AP) physical damage from 45/60/75/90/105(+20% Ability power)(1% Maximum Mana) magic damage ]Splintering Ice's explosion damage change to 50/70/90/110/130(+45% AP) from 45/60/75/90/105(+25% Ability power)(+ 3% Maximum Mana) ]W is now "Mana Shards" replacing "Splintering Ice". Read ability for details. ]Impaling Frost's damage change to 80/90/110/140/180(+50% AD)(+30% AP) physical damage from 80/90/110/140/180(+50% Ability power)(+ 6% Maximum Mana) magic damage ]Impaling Frost leaves behind "Frozen Terrain" for 3 seconds replacing old frost damage ]New mechanic "Frozen Terrain"'s damage is 10(+5 per level)(+2% AP per Ult Rank)(+10% AP) magic damage per second that increases by 50% if targets are slowed within its radius ]R completely reworked, old ultimate: Passive - Kulden gains bonus tenacity based on how many mana shards he currently possesses. This bonus is stronger the less he has. 0 Shards = 35% / 1 Shard = 25% / 2 Shards = 15% / 3 Shards = 5% Active - Upon activating, Kulden will break all mana shards in his possession gaining 10/15/20 armor and magic resist for each shard broken for 10 seconds. During this time he can't form any mana shards. He will then dash forward taking all enemies he collides with for for the rest of the dash. Upon reaching the end of the dash he will slash his blades in a cone dealing 100/200/300 (+80% Attack damage)(+ 6% Maximum Mana) physical damage, knock them back to the edge of the damage range and apply "Chilled" to all enemies hit. The slash portion can't be interrupted by crowd control, but the dash can be.

Appearance (This image is not of my work. I don't take the credit for making any of this image. This is simply being used as a means to give a general idea of what the champion looks like.)

For his appearance this is the closest that I could find to match him physically. Though the difference between the picture and Kulden himself is quite distinct. Kulden's left arm is made of complete ice for one, his attire is battered and torn. As for his weaponry, he wield two katars made of ice in each hand. These weapons are very similar to what Talon uses.

Lore

Kulden hails from the icy mountains of the Freljord. The young man was born into the hardships that came with being apart of the harsh cold environments. These were even intensified being apart of the feared Winter's claw. He was put through struggle after struggle once Sejuani gained control over the tribe. Try as he might, he wasn't the strongest man. In fact he was one of the weaker, ill bodied members of the tribe. Due to this he was considered a burden by the Winter's Wrath. He was a waste of space and would do better as a corpse. The boar rider herself confronted Kulden herself in an attempt to strike him down. The young man didn't wish to die, not here and not now. "Wait!" He pleaded with the fierce woman. "I ask that you spare my life today. I want to prove my strength to the Winter's Claw. Allow me to take my leave, allow me to brave the raging blizzards and the stinging cold of the mountains. Give me only the clothes on my back and the weapon at my side. Give a years time and I will return here stronger then anyone here! This I swear on my life, or let the winter take it." Sejuani huffed at his pea. "Then go...I don't expect you to return. Don't expect a warm welcome." She responded in her cold tone. With that he left the group behind to fend against the ever lasting cold.

Kulden began to realize his mistake rather quickly. Traversing through snow with any supplies was taking a toll on the man's body. He wasn't hardened like the others of the Winter's Claw. Perhaps it was true what was said, he was better off as a corpse. Though he wished to prove that wrong. Determined he chugged on through the cold eventually reaching the Howling Abyss. It was here that he found shelter within the caves that were connected to the bridges of the frozen canyon. His stay however was short lived as he was confronted by another being. This one was a troll of immense size holding a club of true ice. Instantly he could tell that he wasn't wanted in this place. Kulden drew the sword from his side in an effort to defend himself. The troll simply laughed at the size of his weapon. With on raise of the club, Kulden's weapon was smacked away proving that it wouldn't help him in this fight. "I can't fight this...I can't die here...I have to run!" The thoughts raced through the young man's head. He turned and bolted out of the cave making it onto the bridge. Though the lack of food and rest took a toll on him as the troll was easily able to pursue. Another swing of the club struck the man sending him flying straight off the bridge and into the abyss below.

It has been quiet some time sense that day. Months upon months have passed. Though one day something came climbing up the side of the canyon walls. Kulden set foot on the bridge once more. Though things have changed for the young man. He was paler then before, his armor tattered, his human arm replaced by one of ice. What ever happened down in the abyss had changed him. He had gained power and strength he had been searching for, as well as uncovered a true about the past and future. "The Watchers will return, just I will to you, Sejuani."

Abilities Innate Passive - Chilling Strikes Kulden's basic attacks and his Frozen Terrain apply "Chilled" on enemy champions for 4 seconds. "Chilled" targets will have all slows applied to them increased by 5/10/15/20% (+ 3% for every 250 maximum mana). Increases at levels 6/11/16

  • Q - Splintering Ice Active: Kulden sends fourth an ice shard that sticks into the first enemy, structure, or terrain struck dealing 45/60/75/90/105(+70% AD)(+20% AP) physical damage to the target hit. Enemies impaled by the shard are slowed by 20%. After 3 seconds the shard will explode dealing 50/70/90/110/130(+45% AP) magic damage in a small radius and slowing targets by 30% for 2 seconds. Cost: 70/75/80/85/90 mana, cooldown: 13 seconds, range: 700.

  • W - Mana Shards Passive: Everytime Kulden casts another one of this abilities, he gains a mana shard. He must have a mana shard to active this ability and can hold a max of 3 mana shards. Active: Kulden will break all the mana shards in his possession, restoring 2% of his missing mana and increasing his maximum mana by 4/5/6/7/8 for each shard broken. In addition his next basic attack will cleave all units in front of him dealing 10/25/40/55/70 (+ 80% Bonus AD)(+ 5/8/11/14/17 for each shard broken) bonus physical damage. Cost: 80 mana, cooldown: 12/11/10/9/8 seconds, range: 300

  • E - Impaling Frost Active: Kulden stabs his ice blades into the ground causing icy spikes to erupt in a line and then persist as Frozen Terrain for 3 seconds. Targets hit by the erupting spikes will take 80/90/110/140/180(+50% AD)(+30% AP) physical damage. Enemies standing within the Frozen Terrain take 10(+5 per level)(+2% AP per Ult Rank)(+10% AP) magic damage per second and this damage is increased by 50% if the target is slowed. Cost: 80 mana, cooldown: 12 seconds, range: 600

  • R - Cyro Surge Active: Kulden will leap to a targeted enemy champion. Upon arrival he will deal 150/250/350(+100% AD)(+50% AP) physical damage in an area and create Frozen Terrain all around him for 5 seconds. Enemies near the point of impact will be rooted for 1.5 seconds and slowed by 20% for 3 seconds. Enemies farther out will just be slowed and take half the impact damage as magic damage. Cost: 100 mana, cooldown: 130/120/110 seconds, Range: 600 leap, 550 terrain radius, 250 root radius.

That is what I got for Kulden's rework. Feel free to look over the old version to see the differences. Some of his abilities changed but generally they are the same. Wanted to keep his focus on mana and slows for the most part. Now I wouldn't mind some feedback or perhaps questions would be nice too. Either way I hope you enjoyed reading this. For now I need to get back to working on the series of tank champions that have been in production for a bit. This was a nice break coming back to this one but those other concepts aren't going to finish themselves. Thank you and have a good day.

So I decided to do another rework for Kulden here. Going to be going over some of my previous champion concepts and touch them up a bit. This was just the first in line for the treatment. Some wont be as big as others but this is just the start. Would love some feedback on him if you don't mind.

If you make this less wall of text like and incorporate features like the blockquotes with bold and italic text, It would be much easier to read. Thanks!

Quick question, can he stack mana infinitely with his W? I didn't see you clarify in the ability.
