Please direct future feedback to the topic above.

I've been trying to come up with an AP fighter duelist Champion who's gimmick revolves around marking a single enemy and then dueling it to the death. She doesn't have burst like an assassin, but has good engage and what I call "trade superiority", in that she has an innate advantage in auto-attack fights.

These are the skills I presently have. NOTE THAT THEY ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Celes, the Hand of Justice
http://danbooru.donmai.us/data/65452cde5c4f7af0c07e1034ea26bada.png
(I didn't draw this; only meant to be used for reference)

P – Code of Honor
Damaging enemy Champions with basic attacks or spells grants Celes a shield that absorbs up to 10 + (5 X level) (+0.1 AP) and lasts up to 1 second. Does not stack (normally); refreshes duration if reapplied. Attacking targets affected by Verdict enables the shield to stack up to 3 times.

Q – Zealous Charge
Celes dashes in target direction (600 range) and deals magic damage to enemies she passes through (half damage to minions). Celes stops upon striking a Champion. If she strikes a Champion marked by Verdict with Zealous Charge, she inflicts a powerful slow on the target.

W – Fanaticism
Passive: Celes’ basic attacks deal 15/20/25/30/35 (+0.1 AP) bonus magic damage.
Active: For the next 6 seconds, Celes gains increased attack speed and triples her bonus magic damage when attacking a target affected by Verdict.

E – Divine Punishment
Celes delivers a shield-bash to target enemy (short range, direct target nuke), dealing magic damage. If her target has its back turned to Celes, she snares it for 1.25 seconds and deals bonus damage based on the target's missing health. Hitting a target affected by Verdict changes the snare to a stun.

R – Verdict
Celes casts her judgment on target enemy Champion, marking the target and revealing it for 6/8/10 seconds (not including stealth). When Celes’ other abilities strike a target marked by Verdict, they gain bonus effects. Celes gains drastically increased movement speed when moving toward a target affected by Verdict.
If Celes kills a target marked by Verdict, the cooldown of Verdict is refreshed. Assists reduce the current cooldown by 70%.
800 casting range.

Celes is basically meant to build stuff like Nashor's Tooth, AP tanky items, but not Infinity Edge or Bloodthirster. Think of her like Diana with less burst, better DPS, and better auto-attack capability thanks to getting a weak shield every time she attacks a Champion.

Anybody want to lend some helpful opinions? AP fighters seem to be one of the harder things to make.

She reminds me way too much of Kayle, both in theme and in gameplay. The names "Divine Punishment" and "Verdict" scream Kayle, and she is also an auto-based AP dps champion who builds Nashors. It's hard to find room for another fanatic in the League; off the top of my head, we've already got Kayle, Diana, JarvanIV and Kalista, all of whom hearken back to that zealot archetype. I'm not saying it can't be done, but I think you need to do some more exploration.

I had seen a champion like this in west server's boards before the boards upadated, but I am not sure. Similiarities between this and the other I saw are Q, W and E skills, but R ability wasn't like this. Furhtermore, it reminds me Nidalee and Poppy . I assume that you didn't intend to do similar as poppy while making it.

Maybe just make this the Diana rework? :)

getting a shield on every auto could be a problem, if you match the enemy attack speed you will be a monster to try dueling.

I've since changed it to being a shield every 4th consecutive autoattack. Still incentivizes AS, but gives windows of opportunity to damage her. The shield is a bit stronger as a result, though.

Interesting start I try to come up with an E ability by tomorrow if you don't first look at my champion http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/skin-champion-concepts/Iybn7OHF-adan-the-devoted-defender

The passive seems a bit strong. With enough AS it sounds like she could stack the shield quite massively. The base amount may be small but chaining abilities and attacks with no cooldown on the shield would prove OP.

Perhaps change the idea behind it into her E.

*Celes swings her shield forward(I assume that's a shield in the pic), dealing a bit of damage in front of her and for the next 0.25 seconds after blocking the first incoming source of damage from that direction. CD = 12s, reduced by 3s if blocking a champion. 6s if that champion is under the effects of Verdict. *

Replace it with something along he lines of AoE damage reduction, and maybe a return damage effect from basic attacks.

Also not fond of the ultimate reset on her ult. Maybe just have it reset all of her basic abilities but leave the ulti alone? Would encourage focusing the right target, taking them out and moving to the next.

darkdill1 votes

The ult is designed to let her designate a target for her to duel, but she cannot switch targets unless she kills her mark. Therefore, if her marked target escapes or Celes gets peeled off her marked target, she's in a lot of trouble. The cooldown on her ult will otherwise be unforgiving without that reset.

EDIT: I changed the passive so it doesn't NORMALLY stack anymore, but now stacks up to 3 times if you attack a target affected by Verdict. The base shield strength per level has gone up as a result. Hopefully this will still make AS/AP builds more appealing than just a pure AP build.

diana was then they gutted her entire kit.

darkdill1 votes

Yeah, well Diana has a direct-target dash attack, which was abused to make her dives unavoidable. You'd R in, use Moonfall, and then hit your target with everything else without any chance of missing.

It was too obnoxious, so Riot nerfed her into the ground and require her to be reworked before they're allowed to buff her.

ImHerVoice1 votes

actually Her ult was fine. lol. Its that players like me who were actually good at landing Q would hit six then QRQRQRQRQR and anyone in the entire game lost and died to a dive even in a 2v2 situation.

IT wasn't even good base damage it was just the ability to completely reset R over and over many times in a row. So they gutted mana cost. Decreased damage. Decreased scaling on everything. E range nerf. R range nerf. Q range nerf. W completely gutted out of existance. its like 160(and shield) damage at max rank lmfao... It used to be like 240 or something. But W was the only truely broken skill imo. with 20%+ cdr it was up every like 3-5 seconds so basically you just got a free refreshable better than giants belt spell that does AOE damage.

It was the combination of her kit that made her broken as shit. Each spell itself was fine though. Now I kind of wish her E was just an AOE damage around her because it would make her playable in the jungle at least.

Actually nvm New jungle is shit,. gives no gold and exp. Farming it is pointless. Scratch that. Nothing would make her viable because if shes viable no squishy mid is.

Always wanted an AP fighter/duelist but never really known how they would be (Diana's sort of like this but she's better as a burst assassin). I definitely like the concept of this though.

qwe is basically irelia's qwe, passive is too strong unless there is a time limit to how often you can get the shield,

darkdill1 votes

The strength of the passive shields is not final. Numbers are easy to change.

And comparing with Irelia isn't entirely fair. Celes' Q is not direct-target, so it can be sidestepped, her W doesn't give her healing, and her E doesn't punish the opponent for winning trades.

I think I've gotten what I need to start up an official concept topic. Thanks for the help, peoples.

I'll do a quick review while I'm mostly sober

Passive - Too confusing to fight against. Her opponents would constantly have to factor in her constantly-regenerating shield to their calculations. It can be the difference between "I only need one spell to kill her" and "I should blow a whole rotation to make sure she's dead."

Q - So basically Sejuani's charge but a slow instead of a knockup? The design itself works, but its hard to judge anything without damage or cooldown estimates

W - This one could use some improvement. As it stands, its just passive magic damage and an active AS boost. Its not really that interesting to use.

E - I'm... just not sure how this makes sense. If their back is turned, why does it suddenly become a snare?

R - I actually really like this concept. It really enforces the duelist aspect. This part is more than fine, if you make some shifts to the other abilities.

darkdill1 votes

The passive is sort of like Irelia's W in that it's meant to give Celes a defensive advantage when she gets into auto-attack fights against opponents. However, due to the shield's weak strength (I've reduced its base in the actual concept topic), a burst attack will generally still do a ton of damage to her.

I agree that the W could use a little more flash. I'm thinking that if she is striking an enemy with Verdict on it, she shreds its magic resistance with each blow (like a Wit's End).

The reason E becomes a snare? Celes hates when cowards run. So she smacks them and stops them from escaping. :D

...I've been reworking my champion Tessik into an AP fighter along similar lines as this. You seem to have a knack for reading my mind and coming up with what's going through my head.

That said, if I do complete that rework and post it, don't think I'm ripping you off. Elphrihaim can vouch for me that I've been working on it for a while now.

That aside, I of course like the idea of an AP fighter.

The W needs to actually do something with its active before Celes hits 6. It's very boring when she doesn't have her ultimate yet.

Also, between her Q being a dash ending in CC on a champion and her E being a shield-bash that can stun, I'm reminded VERY much of Leona.

darkdill1 votes

The W now doubles her magic damage on-hit regardless of whether her target is affected by Verdict or not, along with the AS. Now if she's attacking a target with Verdict on it, she shreds its MR by flat amounts (max. 5 stacks).

FluxBound1 votes

This is nice, but her ult is a bit op if her team works together/luck. I'd make it only reduce, but not refresh after kill

TheSkimek1 votes

Katarina and almost MasterYi

FluxBound1 votes

yeah, so if it refreshed, she would be more op than kat and yi? ;n;

You know that's a character from another videogame right? you straight up took the q and e moves from the other game too. lol. like almost perfectly described two moves she does in the other game. Youtube or google images: tsubaki, blazblue.

Thats Nidalee except instead of being auto attack reliant its hit your mark combo and jump out.

Seems like a pretty good champ concept to me. I can't recall ever seeing an AP fighter (or is Cho'Gath one of them...). And a part of me likes how you used an image of Tsubaki from Blazblue as your reference. I find it rather fitting actually.

Embertine1 votes

Cho'gath is actually classified as a Mage/Tank.

Rito Jericho1 votes

Okay. That was MY misunderstanding.
