Champion Concept: Nubari, the Snaring Needle

Plague Jungles Fighter/ Assassin
Inspiration:
I wanted to create a champion who used a needle and thread. Piercing played a large part in this design as acupuncture also played a role in the design of the concept by using needles. But I wanted to create a new take on that arch type. That's where the traps came in, and in turned creating an entirely new arch type. Nubari uses her needle and thread to craft traps for her opponents to fall into. Her abilities require that players think ahead as to where they will need certain effects for different circumstances. She must set up her abilities strategically in advance, but once she does, almost anyone that challenges her in her domain will not leave easily.
Design Philosophy:
Nubari is an anti assassin. Her specialty is area control lock down and anti mobility through the use of traps. She has a host of zone control abilities that work especially well against aspiring gankers, and assassins. She's all about positioning; of her traps and her self for maximum effectiveness. She excels in stopping and slowing her opponents to maintain a sustained damage pattern in order to slowly whittle them down. Thus she has a lot utility geared toward cementing her position on the team, for disrupting enemy attacks, stopping and slowing them down so her team can either catch up, finish off the stragglers, or gain the upper hand in a seemingly helpless fight. In team fights it is her job to do as much disruption as possible to hinder enemy movement and attacks, so her allies will receive less damage and be able to deal more of their own. She uses traps and trickery to her advantage to keep up the continuous sustained salvo without letting them get away. She preys on the targets' naiveness. She revels in the awe of her own genius of her traps. Used correctly Nubari, can almost always turn even the most hopeless team fights into a win.

Passive - Acupuncture:
Successfully landed AA and abilities apply an Acupuncture debuff to the hit target relaxing their muscles and reducing their AD and AS by 10 % for 3 sec. This cannot be applied to the same target twice within 15 sec.
Q - Trip wire: Range 900
First Cast: Nubari places a horizontal invisible wire on the ground (w/ a faint shadow) held down by vertical wooden stakes in the ground. Enemy champions that cross it are damaged and stunned for 0.5 sec. Q's last 5 minutes before expiring or being crossed by an enemy champion, she can set up to 3 separate trip wires. Second Cast: If she is near, she grabs the wire and (over 1.25 sec) walks back 200 units and channels. When recast, any enemy units within a 45 degree cone, up to 440 units in front of the trap needles, will be knocked back and take damage. The closer they are to Nubari the further they are knocked back. Upon use the trap will be destroyed.
Note: Q is a 400 unit linear AoE ability. Same targeting is system to Anivia's Crystallize.
W - Baited Thread:
Passive - Needle Point: While Baited Thread is active Nubari's AA grant 5/10/15/20/25% armor penetration. When Baited Thread goes on CD Acupuncture's CD is reduced by 5/10/15/20/25% Active: Range 675 / enemy tether 875 - self tether 1200 She throws a needle attached to a tether thread damaging and slowing the hit target by 30% for 1.75 seconds. If the tether exceeds the indicated max range within 3 sec, then they will take 5% AD as true damage. She can reactivate the ability any time to quickly pull herself to the target gaining 10% MS afterwards for 1 sec. Turrets, Allied wards, Tripwire, or Deadlock Stitch can also be effected for 20 sec. While it's active she can AA, but can't place any traps. The line has range indicator. If she passes the max, or if an enemy champ stands on the line for 2 sec, it breaks and goes on CD.
E - Deadlock Stitch: Range 800/ Radius: 250
After a 2.5 sec channel Nubari sets a trap. Enemy champs walking on the center will trigger the trap emitting an audible click raising 6 needles around the edge, pointing to the center. Moving off the center will shoot the needles. Being hit by 1-5 will slow, being hit by all 6 will root for 1.25 sec. If there are any enemies within a 1200 radius, her channel will be reduced to 1 sec. Traps last 4 minutes, can have up to 2.
R - Dense Thicket:
Passive - Forage: Every 10 sec if Nubari is in brush she will look for materials, her current CDs will be decreased by 5%. Active: Range 2000 Nubari hurls her most prized trap ahead of her. Once it lands it takes one 0.75 sec to arm, and covers a 575 unit radius. Once armed, if there are any enemies within the radius, it will deploy creating a dome of twisted rope, vines, and wood. Enemies will either be caught on the outside or inside, but Allies can enter the dome. The dome last 2 sec before collapsing, dealing damage to enemies within a 600 unit radius.
LORE
Everyone knows that the Plague Jungles are dangerous but few know of its true horrors. The few brave souls who have ventured in and managed to survive will say they only managed to because the jungle decreed it. To them the jungle possesses a kind of sentience. It plays with its victims, and once they enter it is rare that they leave. If the jungle has something in its possession it does not easily let it go. The Plague Jungles ensnare all that enter. It fools it's intruders, right turns become left turns, a left turn will take you back where you started. Landmarks disappear altogether. The jungle seems to morph and form around you, influencing your direction without you being conscious of it. The jungles become a maze, full of dead ends, and any could be the end of your life. One wrong step leads to a fatal trap. The Plague Jungles are full of them, traps that are beyond the intelligence of those foolish enough to enter the Jungles' domain. One second your walking and the next you're not. Sometimes a low sinister cackle can be heard right before a misguided foot steps in the wrong spot.
Some people believe that there is more to the mystery of the jungle besides it being sentient. But woe to the person who tries to test this notion, for they will befall the worst of traps imaginable. And once they have been rendered completely immobile they might catch a glimpse of her. The terror of the Plague Jungles, mastermind of traps. Nubari the snaring needle will tear you apart psychologically and physically, before you even become conscious of what is going on. She is the true reason of danger of the jungle, the creator, and inventor of seemingly endless and brutal traps. But to her it is just an extremely amusing game. Nubari takes extreme joy in watching her traps come together. The more intelligent the target the more entertaining it is trying to trap them. She craves the thrill she gets when she hears the snapping of thread and the desperate yells of someone who has fallen into one of her traps. If you are stupid enough, once you enter her domain, you only leave if she decides to let you go.

Tips for playing as Nubari
- While Nubari's traps are good for catching enemies running away or trying to sneak up on on you none of them reveal the target.
- Each trap has a distinct activation sound that only Nubari and the enemy champ who got caught can hear. Nubari can only hear the sound if within 2400 units.
- Try placing wards near your traps, they can be used as bait. That way if someone is trying to deactivate of of your wards, they will most surely get caught, or at least be deterred saving your ward, if they do get caught the trap will hold them and the ward will reveal them, alerting you.
- Her melee attacks have decent range but they are best used in conjunction with her abilities.
- Get in as many melee AA when your target is under crowd control.
- Nubari makes for a great counter jungler she can use her traps as insurance if an enemy jungler attacks while she's in their jg, or she can use the traps to protect her own jg
- W allows you to deal more damage with a reliable safe line. It is a very effective disengage tool, with it you can remain in lane as long as possible and pull out at the last second, denying a kill
- A great set up for ally ganks is by having a trap set up in a bush, use Baited Thread on that trap and allow the enemy champ to get you low, activate the self pull on W and toss out a trap for them to run into.
- the 2nd cast of Q can be used to knock enemies out of range of W breaking the tether early
- you can even try knocking them into another trap!
- if Baited Thread is active for a pull Nubari can recast Q on a Tripwire and recast Baited thread to instantly pullback and release the knockback.
- E is a nice ability because if there are any hidden nearby enemies Nubari will know instantly.
Nubari is all about good map awareness, watching her traps via ward, and being aware of where all her traps are located.
Tips for playing against Nubari
- Good zone control but it is all static, meaning it only reacts if something makes contact with it
- Watch out for traps if you try to deactivate Nubari's wards
- While Nubari has a lot of CC, she lacks a lot of upfront damage
- Accruing knowledge of where Nubari is placing her traps can really shut her down
- When trying to gank try to find areas where traps may not be! be careful
- Know that if you are between her and the needles of the trap while she has Tripwire pulled back, you will always be knocked back past the needles
- Beware committing to trades with Nubari while her passive is up, it gives a deadly edged to her trades
- Know that Nubari's ult deals a delayed round of damage, so watch out
- Nubari can handle assassins, and champs who try to jump in to deal a burst of damage, but she struggles against champs who deal sustained damage over time, and tanks
- When she throws her ult and any of your allies get caught inside, you can save them from the delayed wave of damage, if all of you can take out its health out before the lifespan runs out, people on the inside and outside can attack the dome.
