How Would You Propose to Make Any Percieved Unfair Champion More Fair

FlameHalbrdOkido·2/26/2019, 5:12:54 AM·19 votes·14,222 views

There's been a lot of salty boards posts about a few specific champs lately that a lot of people seem to have a great deal of disdain for. And quite a few have pointed out that these slew of posts are pointless as they don't seem to do much more than perpetuate the echos already existing which some point out to be aimless complaining

Lets direct some of those feelings into purposeful discussion rather than pointless ranting.

If you perceive any champion to be unfair, first lets discuss what could be done so that everyone can enjoy the game while play against/with them

Lets try to keep the discussion constructive: GO.

I am sure you are referring to yasuo, I always said they should make his double crit chance passive start at 25% more crit chance and then scale to double by level 12. Level scaling dependency like pretty much all the other insane scalers.

Sulghunter2/26/2019, 5:25:03 AM14 votes

Absolutely dumpster the base numbers of the abilities of tanks, or tanky champions, raise the scaling to compensate. I am sick and tired of tanks running around and doing assassin levels of damage. If they want damage, they ought to have to give up durability in exchange.

Make Yasuo's Windwall make any projectiles that pass through it deal no damage but still apply cc and debuffs.

I enjoy Zoe Zoe as a champion however.. I do find her E, "Sleepy Trouble Bubble"item 3643 to be quite frustrating. I think that the ability gives the player too much of a reward for missing the skill shot. So I propose that the sleep time is halfed when missed, that way the opposing player has more time to react and the Zoe is getting backlash for missing the skill shot. Please leave your thoughts as a reply I am interested how everyone else feels about this. [sg-soraka]

I have lost all hope of riot doing anything right anymore because money takes over games nowdays.

Honestly, the best way to realize a champion is more fair than you think is to play that champion yourself. You understand the limitations and weaknesses better and you become more aware of their strengths.

Fizz: Either his untargetability on his troll pole needs to be removed, it needs a massively higher cooldown, or it needs to have its damage components removed. Untargetability is already strong enough to have on a non-ultimate ability; it should not be on as short a cooldown as it is and do AoE magic damage as well.

Karunamon2/26/2019, 3:28:48 PM3 votes

The big one is Yasuo.

One big thing that doesn't involve changing anything about his stats or kit is to fix windwall so that he has to cast it in the right direction for it to be effective. I.e, the wall should come from in front of him, not the center of him.

The current method violates the principle of least surprise so much that it really ought to be classified as a bug, because that's a lot of invisible, undocumented power in his kit.

Infernape2/26/2019, 1:42:56 PM3 votes

Make Yasuo's W function more akin to Fiora's W. A short duration ability that blocks things from ONE DIRECTION. It doesn't need to linger as long as it does.

TheSingularity2/26/2019, 8:23:00 PM3 votes

Yasuo: Windwall changed to wind slash

Yasuo swiftly swings his sword (left to right for his model) producing wind in an arc to deflect projectiles for 0.5 seconds (cooldown reduced to compensate) Costs 20 flow: Cooldown is reduced by 0.X seconds for each spell stopped by wind slash The barrier starts a little bit in front of yasuo (no longer inside his model), preventing panic W's on spells that would otherwise be on the verge of hitting him. Hitbox width (or thickness) is reduced significantly: a fast animation on a short cooldown doesn't require a fat hitbox.

This turns the spell into a reactionary tool rather than a "you can't touch me for 4 seconds" tool. It then prevents yas from dashing onto you and placing his wall on top of you (how he has an optimal engagement range approx the length of his Q)

Butterwood2/26/2019, 8:26:08 PM3 votes

Make the wind wall breakable like other shields. The more this game incentivizes breaking wind, the more effective I'm going to be.

excelsheet12/27/2019, 9:49:06 PM3 votes

More champions with the grounding mechanic would be nice. It would gap mobility creep and make yas counterabler

Metal Janna2/27/2019, 6:29:49 AM2 votes

For all hook supports: disable the lollipop effect. It's not that it feels unfair, it is unfair. Skillshots that are literally misses are being treated as hits.

Illabethe2/27/2019, 3:09:35 AM2 votes

It's not that hard.

Yasuo: Increase the RANGE of Cooldown reduction on Q and E, so that the minimum reduction is lower, and the maximum is the same as it is. This results in Q not resetting at an unsustainable rate with only one item, but eventually scales him up to where he needs to be if you let the game go too long.

(Atm he pretty much maximizes the cooldowns in only 2 items).

Yorick: Make the same rules that apply to Zyra's plants apply to Yorick's minions, with the exception of the Queen

(Atm any aoes impact his ghouls FAR less than her plants, resulting in situations where Yorick can just proc 5-7 minions at once, and anyone who is aoe reliant can't deal with them, and anyone who melee attacks has to clear 5-7 minions while they are terrorizing them, one by one, all while dealing with Yorick's attacks and W at the SAME TIME. Unless you can directly kill Yorick in 1-2 skills, this usually wins all exchanges.)

Remove yasuo's shield passive to make him easier to trade with in lane. He already has windwall and the ability to go in and out of trades really quickly. He's supposed to be weaker early game, so make him have to think more about which trades to take.

Between passive shield, windwall, e mobility and tornado yasuo has too many tools to play around with in laning phase. He has the mobility to trade when he wants to, windwall and passive shield to stop you from trading back and a tornado that basically auto wins a trade before it begins if he uses it properly. Between windwall, passive and tornado there just isn't a big enough window to punish him.

Unless his numbers are literally gutted he will always feel absurd to face when he has so many tools at his disposal. All of the tools are in his hands.

If you can't remove the passive shield, nerf his armor pen on his ult (50% for 15 seconds??) and his windwall duration (or at least make the duration of windwall scale with level) 4 seconds is just way too long.

Not that they'd ever touch yasuo, the main character of league (the one that no one can even play anyways because of his off the chart ban rates)

This seems fun. Give me any champion you want Op or others and I will take a swing at it.

Meep Man3/5/2019, 4:31:38 AM2 votes

Fiddlesticks has always been an absolute mess when he is viable and downright forgettable when he isn't. Most notably, his Q being a basic, undodgeable 2.25 second stun essentially can make him very difficult to play against during patches when he is overtuned. Giving him a different ability that allows more interaction by the opponent while also helping Fiddlesticks with some his glaring weaknesses and poor QoL gameplay would help a lot.

As a Vi and Kayn two-trick-pony, let me suggest some ideas:

Shadow kayn has a fun and unique assassination style: Zoom in through a wall, drop a champ, maybe lower another one to half-health, and then book it the hell out of dodge. Problem is, he doesnt do more damage than Rhaast because conqueror exists, and he lost the one rune that gave him the immediate up-front burst he needed (old Dark Harvest), and the movespeed on his E is great but with mobi boots and ghostblade it feels irrelevant. Some small damage tweaks would be nice, and to compensate maybe reduce his E speed so squishies don't get nuked without reaction time (even with wards)

Rhaast also has a fun and unique style of winning fights: just keep fucking battering them. Kled-style. Don't let up, or you die. If you get out of the fight, you're at risk of dying. The best way to deal with him is to grievous wounds him, and burn him down. He feels a little overtuned with damage, and this is entirely at the fault of Conqueror tbh, i don't believe he needs significant nerfs unless conq keeps being too good on him (and doesn't get nerfed)

now for Vi, my favorite. She feels kind of like a bootleg tankier version of Camille right now, but with a little less skill expression (people see Camille as a high skill, and Vi as a medium/low skill. Tbh they're almost the same but thats just my opinion from playing both.) Currently she's getting some possible changes on PBE but it's been like 4 cycles and i don't see em anywhere but PBE still, so i'll suggest some here

Okay, so she's just worse but significantly tankier Camille, that's fine, because Camille is a true damage tank-buster and duelist, with assassin elements and a single-target+collateral knockback movement denial and Vi is an.... armor cracking tank buster and duelist, with assassin elements and a single target+collateral knockback(and damage) Hmm. Let's see here

Her Q is an integral part of her kit, the charge-up punch is what makes Vi into... well, Vi. It's dodgable (unless you flash-q and catch people off guard), it's telegraphed, and it's her primary and only source of CC outside of her ultimate. Keep it as-is. Her W is important because it enables her to punch up the tanky bois and win, as well as giving her a jungle clear. Perhaps adding an active to it, like Varus's W, would be cool, but not something i have an idea of. Her E is incredibly useful, but is basically just an auto attack reset with some small AoE, it's basically just there to make Trinity Force a good choice for her. I don't know how to change that significantly without breaking her power budget Her R is what removes skill from her kit, because it's a large damage point-and-click inescapable chase. I love her R to bits, it's super fun, but i think the damage needs a tune-down, it's a catcher spell instead of a burst spell, in my eyes. Catching is what it's good at, and it'll almost always be followed by an auto, q, or e so it doesn't really need the sizable damage.

Some champions can't really be balanced with what they got. It's the things they have that make them OP or unfair. In yasuos case he has just too much of "toxic kit".

Personally Riot could rework Yasuo to be more wind-samurai without all the BS he has right now, but that won't happen and if it were to happen, they'd just use exactly the same abilities but slightly changed, which would make him just as unfun to play against.
