Buffing Karma Again After Nerfing Her and Not Addressing 7 Years of Issues
VGU that:
- Removed healing on Mantra Q.
- Removed ally tether.
- Removed passive that rewarded her for doing something and outplaying players.
- Removed shield bomb.
- Removed Mantra charges.
Further work after the VGU:
- Confused the game and players as to why Karma is supposed to be doing.
- Rushed art that was not fully conceptualized or complete.
- One dimensional Mantra abilities that fit one use but doesn't really offer any skill expression out of that.
- One damage move that is overloaded with fronted damage early game and is blocked by minions.
- A heal on Mantra W that scales off of missing HP rather than AP and has no ally mechanic.
- A Mantra E that is bland, one dimensional, soaks up a lot of her power budget, exists on other champion kits, and can be replicated on two item actives.
- Doesn't excel at anything in the game but does a lot of different things which is a problem.
- 7 years worth of excuses, ignorance on Developer behalf and a changing meta that created three different Karma players that want different things from her but cannot come together on anything.
The VGU for Karma 7 years ago is a massive failure that created more problems for the champion. The mains have been asking for work to be done on her for 7 years now and nothing is being done. There have been pleas, reworks and ideas given, and feedback on what needs to happen for Karma . . . . and Riot wants to throw out pointless buffs that get nerfed because Karma is either too strong when she is overbuffed or barely a champion when she has no power. Karma has no gameplay direction, three conflicting gameplay identities, and a bland kit that is too one dimensional and has zero skill expression. Add in the fact that her thematic and art assets are incomplete and lazily done, there is nothing carrying this champion. The VGU 7 years ago and the constant pathetic attempts at buffing and immediately nerfing her kit is not working out and pointing out a problem that was created 7 years ago: The terrible VGU.
Buff Karma's damage numbers again after you just nerfed her a few patches ago, but ignore the problems that really remain on the champion. Throw more pointless buffs on to something and hope it sticks, when that will never happen and your ignorance and terrible work ethic is to blame in the long run.
Simple proposal to make a Battle Mage/Support
Passive: Make casting abilities on allies grant cooldown reduction on Mantra.
Mantra Q: Make the ability ground targetable, lessen the range and remove the Mantra Q explosion damage for a healing explosion strength based off of healing/shield enhancing items.
W and Mantra W: Remove the healing all together and increase the damage but also introduce a ally mechanic that takes a portion of damage from allies to Karma.
Mantra E: Remove AOE shields for Shield Bomb and put a delay on it. Make the damage do more with AP and the shield strength with shield enhancing items. Keep the group speed buff.
IT'S A SIMPLE GU THAT IS GIVING KARMA A ACTUAL GAMEPLAY IDENTITY AND PURPOSE OTHER THAN WHAT SHE IS DOING NOW. Basic abilities stay the same and the problems have always been the Mantra.
