Volibear Rework Concept

Since it was officially announced that Volibear will be the next champion to receive a rework I thought I give it a shot on my own for shits and giggles.

I tried to take inspiration from the stories on the league universe sites, especially the stories "The Voice from the Hearth" and "Silence for the Damned", to crate a Volibear rework concept.

So, in "The Voice from the Hearth" a warmother called Olgavanna calles Volibear "the Thousand-Pierced Bear" and describes how all kinds of weapons are stuck inside Volibears hide. Thats where I took inspiration from for his passive which I just called "The Thousand-Pierced Bear" which grants Volibear resistances based on how often he is hit while in battle.

For his Q I tried to derive a more interactive skill form his previous Q and W. What I came up with was a sort of mad flailing, more fitting for a ferocious murder machine than his current Q and W, which deals on-hit damage to enemies around him. Gotta have to think of the interaction with Tiamat/Hyrda for its active part though. But since I wanted to keep some heard crowd controll on his Q I added the passive which synergizes well with its active.

For his W I wanted to keep a bite, because bear (duh!), but make it a bit more exciting since he is the f*king avatar of the storm. At least I like to call him that since he is pretty much a demigod according to the new lore. Hence I let him charge up the power of a storm in just his jaws and unleash it on his enemies. Also in "Silence for the Damned" it is said that "Electricity poured from [Volibears's] mouth, as if it would explode".

Next his E. So, I pretty much COMPLETELY designed this after one scene from "Silence for the Damned", where it is said that "The Volibear roared in anger. The force of its howl pushed Udyr back toward Sejuani as the beast’s spell broke." But it's also said that "Sejuani felt the most intense fear she’d ever known". So I kinda included both into his E. I'm aware that could be a bit overkill so tell me your opinion. He pushes very close enemies away from himself (pretty much the same as it is now) but also unleashes an intimidating roar while standing still that affects a wide area in target direction.

Lastly his Ult. This is where the true "Avatar of the Storm" enters. Literally. Because I named the Ult "Avatar of the Storm". And I felt that an "Ascension" would be more fitting for him than just charging his claws. I made it more akin to the ults of Renekton and Nasus with a bit of Kennen's ult, i.e. increasing in size, gaining health and unleashing lightnings into nearby enemies.

(Passive) The Thousand-Pierced Bear (gets stronger at levels 8 and 15)

Volibear is a battle hardened monstrosity which is b(e)arely fazed by pain, especially in the midst of battle. Every auto attack and ability that deals damage to Volibear grants him 1.2%/2%/2.8% damage reduction for 3 seconds up to a maximum of 18%/30%/42% (15 stacks). DoTs on him only grant one stack on the first instance of damage but also refresh the duration of the current amount of stacks every time Volibear receives damage from them.

(Q) (Active) Static Frenzy (Costs: 35/40/45/50/55 Mana; Cooldown: 9/8.5/8/7.5/7 [starts after the flailing ends])

Volibear gains 30/35/40/45/50 movementspeed (increased by 50% when walking towards enemy champions) for up to 4 seconds and starts flailing around ferociously afterwards or upon recast, striking all enemies infront of him up to 5 times (once every half second), dealing (60%/65%/70%/75%/80% tAD) normal damage and applying on-hit effects with each hit. In this time he cannot basic attack. Every hit counts as an auto attack for "Thunderclap" but can't activate it.

(Q) (Passive) Thunderclap

With every 5th auto attack Volibear smacks his target with both his claws, applying on-hit effects twice, dealing (120%/130%/140%/150%/160% tAD + 4%/4.5%/5%/5.5%/6% max Health) normal damage total and stunning the enemy for 1.25 seconds. Enemies can only be stunned by this every 8 seconds.

(W) Storm Jaws (Costs: 60/65/70/75/80 Mana; Cooldown: 16/14.5/13/11.5/10)

Volibear collects the force of a storm in his jaws for 2 seconds and maintains it for the next 3 seconds. Within these 3 seconds he can recast this ability to unleash a lightning-elemental jaw, biting down in curser direction, dealing 80/125/170/215/260 (+80% AP; +5 per lvl) magic damage to all enemies hit. If only one enemy is hit or when the enemy is under the influence of hard crowd control the damage is increased by 20% for each condition met. The precharge can be started during other abilities and while moving. Not recasting the ability refunds 50% of the mana and cooldown.

(E) Ursine War-Roar (Costs: 75; Cooldown: 24/22/20/18/16)

Volibear roars in a broad cone (~140°) while standing still for up to 4 seconds. Upon cast enemies receive 30/50/70/90/110 magic damage as well as every second after that and are slowed by 15%/20%/25%/30%/35% (the slow is doubled when the enemies face Volibear and is always doubled against monsters/minion). If the enemy is within 250 units of Volibear when first cast they are pushed back a small distance. Recasting it after at least 2 seconds or using it for the full duration sends out a finishing shockwave that deals an additional 50/75/100/125/150 magic damage and scares enemy champions for 1.5 seconds as well as minions/monsters for 3 seconds.

(R) Avatar of the Storm (Costs: 100 Mana; Cooldown: 140/120/100)

Volibear accesses his true form as the Avatar of the Storm, instantly gaining all stacks of "The Thousand-Pierced Bear". Furthermore he increases in size (subsequently increasing his other abilities range), unleashes a thunderstorm around him for 10 seconds, which discharges every second into nearby enemies (the same champion can only be hit once every 2 seconds; target priorities: champions > epic monsters > big monsters > small monsters > minions), dealing 75/150/225 +2%/3%/4% of the enemies max HP as magic damage, slowing them for 15% for 1 second and has his max health increased by 200/450/750.

Numbers are of course debatable.

I think ur doing Volis uniqueness a disservice by giving him such an uninspired ultimate, storms are more than lightning, I think u did well enough in that regard in the W. Everything about this rework is great except the ult
