[SUG] The Phage line rework

Bruiser have many problems and itemisation is one of them. Just like with supports. This isn't a problem that can be solved on one path. Progress has to be made over time to eventually create something that it's their to stay.

Today I want to suggest a solution rework for one of their items and that's item 3044. It won't be perfect but I want to try to push the item into a certain direction that could create a new foundation for them:

#item 3044 Phage

  • Cost: 1300 (from 1250)
  • Stats: Unchanged
  • <new> Unique Passive - Haste: Gain 10% Cooldown Reduction

Currently all Phage items build into 20% cooldown reduction items and that's a nice concept to have on this cdr line. Having the unique passive Haste in the mix will make it easyier to ballance out stacking with other high cdr items.

#item 3071 The Black Cleaver

  • Cost: Unchanged , 3000 gold
  • Stats: Unchanged , 10% of the cdr moved to Haste
  • <new> Unique Passive - Haste: Gain 10% Cooldown Reduction
  • Unique: Unchanged
  • Unique – Rage

Nothing changed, 10% of the cdr is now unique.

#item 3091 Wit's End (reworked)

  • Cost: 3000 gold (from 2500)
  • Recipe: item 3044 (1300) + item 3101 (1100) + 600
  • Stats: 200 Health, 20 Attack Damage, 40% Attack Speed, 10% Cooldown Reduction
  • <new> Unique Passive - Haste: Gain 10% Cooldown Reduction
  • Unique: +40 bonus on-hit magic damage
  • Unique: Basic attacks (on-hit) steal 10% magic resistance for 5 seconds. Stacks up to 5 times for a total of 50% magic resistance steal (voidstaff calculation happends after steal. This is haf'd for range champions.
  • Unique – Rage

The community is asking for a Wit's End rework for a while. You might now have thought about a removal of his tank stats but hear me out. Currently the item has become relative popular on champions like Varus KogMaw that are using the item to amplify their damage output. That's strange for a tank item don't you think. In fact, currently the item is so much abused it will most likely wit's end will get another nerf (while it's already unwhelming for divers). So let's just embrace the item how it is now and make it a pure offensive duelist item. A lot of bruisers actually deal a decent amount of magic damage like Jax for example that would absolutly be thrilled by this item. Time for the duelist to shred some tanks when they try to disturb his lane fase again.

#{{summoner:35}} Warlord's Grasp (new)

  • Cost: 3000 gold
  • Recipe: item 3044 (1300) + item 3057 (1050) + 650
  • Stats: 250 Health, 250 Mana, 25 Attack Damage, 10% Cooldown Reduction
  • Unique Passive - Haste: Gain 10% Cooldown Reduction
  • Unique – Spellblade: After using an ability, your next basic attack within 10 seconds ignores shields and deals (150% base AD) on-hit bonus damage (1.5 second cooldown).
  • Unique – Rage

An item that will most likely open you eyes when you read what spellblade does right now. And I can understand this is a really dangerous direction to go with an item. Yet that's exactly why I think bruisers deserve an item like this. You probally all have faced this scenario. You are a bruiser that just won a trade really hard. Your target has only 5% of his health left but this guy doesn't back and still pressures your lane. Jup that's right, this guy has a shield so you can't kill him anymore. Than the sustain triggers in and you just blow your entire combo for nothing. Bruisers just doesn't have a realiable way of providing killing pressure towards someone. And that's an issue. One game that fed vi ult that adc. (adc: shields please; adc: hm that was close I have 40% of my health left I should get GA; ally: nah buy it when your under 20%). Fighting a melee champion without true damage just isn't that scary anymore. Divers should become the tanky assasins that disrupt the fight. Basicly the middleground between assasins & vanguards.

#Other

So what about item 3078, that's a 4th phage item right. Well for that one I'm honnestly not sure. My first thought was to delete it since we now have 3 phage upgrades to work with most of the situations will be covered by them. But it's really not an issue if the item will remain available in the shop. It still has one function for lategame ad caster and maybe for ballacing it's even intressting to keep it for exactly that reason.

50% MR steal on Wit’s End is a bad idea. Kog right clicks on Maokai and Veigar’s ult just tickles him.

It would actually give him less MR, the average champion has between the 30-40 base mr. So kog would only get 15-20 mr tops. The current item 3091 already gives you 40 mr + 25 mr from it's passive. So the enemy needs a lot of mr to match the 65 mr that the current wit's end brings to the table.

So to top that 65 mr. A tank needs to have over 130 mr to match the current wit's end that is cheaper by the way.

It would just push the item more into that I can duel everyone category rather than ow shit I just stole 25 mr from the enemy that has 130 mr.

Where did the other 10% on black clever go

The 20% cdr is unchanged on black cleaver. Just 10% of the cdr is now unique. This make it stacking with other haste passive items harder what would be item 3802 item 3285item 3003 item 3030 from the mage rework.

As far item 3078 goes, if it's kept than I would change the buildpath to item 3044 + item 3057 + item 1043 giving it the onhit damage and tweaking the price to 3700 gold. That would make the item even more suitable for physical damage dealers and more in lane for it's lategame AD caster purpose like XinZhao Jax etc
