Map Skins

For this idea, I'm going to theorize that Riot does map skins similar to champion skins, in that there are the lower tier ones (like a snow covered map) and the higher tier ones (legendary maps, like a Piltover map). How cool would it be to have a map where summoners rift is Piltover and all the terrain is buildings/debris of buildings and the river is like an alley?

Now, don't get me wrong, I know this would be a TON of work, so this leads to my main question...

How much would you pay for a map skin? How much for a lower tier skin and how much for a higher tier skin? Or...Should this even be a thing?

EDIT: I think it would work like custom skins. For example, if you download a custom skin for a champ, only you see the custom skin while everyone else sees the normal one. This way if you buy a map skin, you see the super awesome 'police brutality supporting utopia,' while they see just the normal boring summoners rift.

This seems like it'd be easier than the whole voting thing. Plus, wouldn't the main reason for buying a map skin be for your own personal enjoyment? I mean, that's why I buy champion skins, for my own pleasure.

Well one I think this would be really cool, but if it worked like normals skins that means everyone would see what you bought, since theres one map if more than one person own a skin for the map how would that be decided? and if it was set up to where only you could see it, would it be worth it; people can mod it in for free and no one else can tell anyway.

but one way it could work is a system like how "all for one" champ select sort of works. Each person who owns a skin puts their skin up to be picked and then the group decides which one, but then you run into the problem of people buying a skin that no one wants to see and then they feel like they wasted money.

If they could find a way to make it work I think it would be really dope, and price wise I'd say like 15-25 $ would probably be reasonable.

I would pay up to 30 bucks for one of those

Riot is not going to do it. They have stated that because of the aesthetics of the current map, it would be WAY to hard to do something like this. Riot would have to go back and edit every single pixel to give us map skins. What I don't understand is that there are freelance artists out there that can do it . . . . but Riot Games cannot? I mean I use Winter Rift, before it broke, all the time and it looks very good. Is Riot trying to tell us they are to lazy to do it? Yes they are.

I mean if i have the super cool piltover skin and say someone else has the refund bait snow map whats to stop someone from picking the dingy winterwonderland over my police brutality supporting utopia? what decides which one is used?

It would be cool if you voted on it, but it wasnt put something you bought. Maybe you earn it or just get it automatically.

I would say it could work on a voting system for people wanting to use multiple maps in a game. Along with an opt-in/out option in champ select for those to pick whether they want to stick to the standard rift without ruining it for those who want to use the map skin themselves.

The problem with a map skin is that it would only be able to be seen on your screen. There wouldn't be any reason for people to buy it over downloading pirated version for free.
