Hello everyone! I've missed out one (two?) contest for the CCOS last (two?) month. While away I had a lot of time to think about what kind of character I wanted to create, and eventually I settled on a thematic involving gods, dancing, crystals and a young girl named Kohral.

Kohral, Wujite's Dancer

PRIMARY: Fighter SECONDARY: Mage

Overview: Kohral is a strong jungle brawler. Able to survive in lane, but feeling most at home in the jungles of the Rift, Kohral dominates whether she is fighting an enemy up close or from afar, working together with her tribe's deity, Wujite. With potent versatility and crowd control spread across the map, both this dynamic duo works together to invoke a strong presence among the rift. pronounced- (koh-rahl) and (woo-jee-tay)

Kohral and Wujite look like Shayne and Aurox from Battleborn, albeit, Wujite is more graceful looking than Aurox, and Kohral is a less angsty Shayne, and is not emo. Kohral hails from Ionia, but spent most of her life in Shurima.

Abilities:

Passive- Prophet of Wujite: CRYSTAL PROPHET: Kohral is protected and surrounded by the God, Wujite. Wujite's crystalline nature gives Kohral bonus armour based on 1% of her maximum health. WUJITE'S DANCE: As Kohral moves around, she gains stacks of Crystal Momentum. At 100 stacks, her next attack on monster or enemy champion will cause her to gracefully leap a short distance toward them or away depending on where she targets before she dashes. This attack is ranged and fires a volley of 4 crystals, with each crystal dealing 25% AD and 10/15/20/25 bonus magic damage (100% AD and 40/60/80/100 bonus damage). Deals 150% damage to minions and monsters.

Notes: I don't believe this is too complex or overloaded in terms of actual gameplay, so I wanted to have a fairly simple passive that could work well in the jungle and in lane. To clarify, the passive can be activated during her Q and while detached from Wujite in general. I also wanted something to tie into her theme that she was a dancer, so the animation as this is activated would have to be graceful and such.

Q- Wujite's Power: PASSIVE: While bonded with Wujite, Kohral's basic attacks deal 110% of her AD. Shared by Kohral and Wujite 20% and 90% respectively. ACTIVE: Upon activation, Wujite detaches from around Kohral, remaining at the location for up to 4 seconds. Wujite has Kohral's attack speed and is an invulnerable, but immovable unit. While detached, Wujite automatically attacks anyone within range or whoever Kohral directs her to attack, and deals 6/7/8/9/10% (+1% per 50 Bonus AD) of their current health in bonus damage. While detached from Wujite, Kohral gains Fleet, giving her flat 35 bonus movement speed and the ability to move through units. Each party can attack individually during this time, but Kohral will not attack if she is directing Wujite to. Reactivate to cause Wujite to return to Kohral, retaining the bonus percent current health damage if the duration is not finished. (9/9/9/9/9 sec cooldown, starts upon first activation) (N/A Range) (350 Radius for Wujite) (45/45/45/45/45 Mana)

Notes: Ideally this is a very versatile skill. You can use it to damage enemies while you are far away, and theoretically kite with it (I'll get to this later). It is also a good general enhancer for taking out jungle camps easier, as early game your health starts considerably low given your passive. The cooldown starts upon first activating the skill, so technically the cooldown would be 5 seconds, depending on whether one reactivates or not.

W- Wujite's Grasp: Kohral fires a crystal tether in a line, originating from Wujite, passing through all enemies struck, dealing 30/50/70/90/110 (+30% AD) physical damage. The tether remains for 2 seconds, linking between all enemies struck and slowing them by 40%, decaying over the duration. If Kohral reactivates this ability, she and Wujite, or simply just Wujite (based on whether the two are bonded or not), rushes toward a target enemy that is tethered, dealing the same damage again, to them and all enemies on her way there. Wujite remains at the location for 3 seconds or until reactivated once again, and attacks nearby enemies in a similar fashion to Wujite's Power, without the bonus damage. (13/12.5/12/11.5/11 sec cooldown) (1000 Range) (50/60/70/80/90 Mana)

Notes: I think this would work fairly well as a gap-closer, and also to function as a re-positioning tool for Wujite in the midst of a fight. It gives Kohral and Wujite the oppurtunity to select which tethered enemy they want to pull themselves to as well, giving them a lot more versatility than other gapclosing skills.

E- Wujite's Presence: FIRST CAST: Kohral marks a section of wall, while also marking a parallel section of wall. She infuses these marks with concentrated minerals, and gains stacks of Momentum significantly faster while near them. SECOND CAST or when near marked walls: Pillars of crystal vertically burst out toward each other from these sections of wall after a short delay, dealing 40/75/110/145/180 (+50% AP) and stunning enemies struck for 1.85 seconds. The marks remain for 3 minutes. A crystal mark that has been activated cannot be so again for 15 seconds, and Kohral cannot activate another mark for a static 5 seconds if the first successfully stuns an enemy. If Kohral stuns an enemy with this skill she instantly gains full momentum stacks, and refunds half the mana cost. Inside Wujite's Arena, the pillars stun for 0.5 seconds. (14/13.5/13/12.5/12 cooldown) (800 cast Range) (40/45/50/55/60 Mana)

Notes: This skill attempts to give Wujite some meaningful CC, that, if used cleverly, can often pile on a plethora of CC onto enemies. Ideally, you want these marks spread out, so you can be near them often. Marks cannot be placed directly next each other, so that you can't keep stunning an enemy no matter where they are. Enemies can see marks no matter where they are on the map. By having these placed everywhere you can kite effectively- while running, lead enemy to your mark location, stun, into a Q, leaving Wujite to damage them while you run away with bonus movement speed. If they manage to catch up, use your W to slow them, as you can move around while they are tethered to you. By then, another mark may be readily active.

R- Wujite's Arena: Wujite and Kohral drop crystal pillars from the sky to create a large circle around them for 6.5/7.5/8.5 seconds. This area acts like a mobile arena, moving with Kohral in the middle and giving her effects while enemies are within the circle. For this duration, Kohral also perpetually has Crystal Momentum. When individual enemies enter this ring for the first time, they are slowed by 20% for 2 seconds and suffer 100/175/250 (+50% Bonus AD) physical damage. If enemies are within the ring, Kohral gains the ability to cast Wujite's Presence anywhere within the circle, activating, but also disappearing automatically after cast, and for half the mana cost on a static 1.5 second cooldown. (70/65/60 sec cooldown) (1100 Radius) (100/100/100 Mana)

Notes: I feel really partial to this skill as it functions similarly to an ultimate I made for another concept that bombed. Basically, I wanted to converge on the theme that Kohral was both a dancer and a brawler, who has the assisted power of a crystalline god, and having all aspects of her shine in her ultimate I think brings that together well. Ideally, you want enemies to get into your arena, so using your W to get closer to them is useful while you have your ultimate active. Admittedly, the Q doesn't really work very well with this skill but I've accepted that it doesn't necessarily need to.

TL:DR versions:

Passive gives Kohral bonus armour based on her maximum health and allows her to do a Kalista dash + ranged attack as she moves around enough.

Q detaches Wujite from Kohral. Wujite cannot move but attacks enemies within her radius and deals enhanced damage. Reactivate to return to Kohral, retaining the enhanced damage if duration is not finished.

W deals damage to enemies in a line and tethers all of them to Wujite. Reactivate to dash to a target leashed enemy dealing damage again.

E marks parallel sections of wall, that, when reactivated, stun enemies caught between them. Gives Kohral the Kalista dash from passive if she successfully hits.

R creates an mobile arena that follows Kohral, enhancing her E to be cast anywhere on a reduced cooldown within the arena, and perpetually gaining the Kalista dash + ranged attack thingy.

LORE: Kohral was born into a wealthy Ionian tribe in Navori, but later became lost to the sands of Shurima. From birth, Kohral always felt the desert call to her but didn't know why, until one day, she ventured out against the will of her parents and as such discovered a new life in rebuilding the elegance, yet wrought power that the nation of Shurima once held. The performance was next week. Kohral had trained many months to perform for the royals and, of course, Wujite, the tribe's crystalline deity, who, in legend, had been lost to the ancient sands. Whether to Shurima, or simply a nearby beach, nobody knew as the legends were never clear to Kohral. These legends intrigued Kohral, as it told of her grandfather Hazone, a prophet that once worked closely with Wujite, giving the deity control of his body as they worked together to drive off a fleet of Noxian and Bilgewater invaders, but one day, Wujite just disappeared, leaving behind specs of sand and dust. Her grandfather has since passed away, but Kohral knows that legends live on in a man known as the Wuju Bladesman... Kohral's performance was meant to be a cornerstone dance for her culture. She had been a dancer for all her life, yet this style of dance was very powerful and rigid, almost war-like. Kohral wasn't used to such tendencies, but continued to train with her fellow performers and teacher amongst the backdrop of a cascading waterfall, as a never ceasing niggle kept itching at her. Kohral felt that as a descendant of the original prophet of Wujite, it was her duty to continue the legend. She needed to find the Wuju Bladesman. "Punch forward, dash, twist, release your left arm!" Kohral's teacher instructed. She and the rest of the performers followed, as they panted heavily. "Please, Teacher Kumi, we have been practicing this move for hours." Kohral and her classmates pleaded in unison. "Fine, we shall continue tomorrow. But remember, this is not about you. This is about our tribe, our culture... our former great protector, Wujite. We must honor her, as she did us." Kumi replied. Kohral and her classmates ran back home via the waterfall steppes, Kohral's dark, braided hair flying behind her. She knew that there wasn't going to be a tomorrow class for her. As Kohral reached home, her overprotective parents ran up to her, with worried expressions on their faces. "Where were you? We were worried you got lost! Where were you for the three hours." they asked. "Our teacher made us do the same move over and over, and don't worry about me like that. I'm not so fragile or naive!" Kohral replied, exasperated. "Look, I don't need you constantly watching over me like I'm some prized possession. If you really loved me, then let me out of the village like the other kids, let me explore! Don't control me like you have all your life!" It wasn't Kohral's appearance or personality that made her parents believe any of this, in fact they didn't. "Kohral... I think we need to tell you something," her father started, "When you were a baby, your grandfather sensed a great energy in you, but, it was so familiar to him. It turned out that this energy was Wujite's bond with your grandfather, something he must have passed to you when his bond with Wujite broke. A year later was when he passed. Many spiritual doctors believed that it was this break in bonds that made him physically unstable." Her mother began speaking, "We were worried about you, that someday, you may feel compelled to explore or possibly even find Wujite, and if you did, this could happen to you too." "Then why only tell me now?!" Kohral became frustrated with her parents. "We were afraid that it would only compel you to find her more..." Her parents replied "This is a betrayal of our culture! We could've found Wujite for our tribe, all this time, and you didn't tell anyone because of your selfish desire for me?" Kohral yelled with the fury of many Shuriman Suns, as she ran out the door into the cold of night, before slamming it shut. Her parents could only stare at the door in regret, and weep, at a loss of thought and words. Kohral ran through the rice fields, under the oriental bridge and kept running, tears streaming from her eyes, glimmering under the light of a full moon. 'I must find the Wuju Bladesman', Kohral kept telling herself. 'Only he may be able to decipher my fate.' Kohral ran until she reached a three way crossroads. The legends had told of him as being a man who lived in the mountains, and only one direction pointed Kohral there, and as such she went. Upon reaching the mountains she came across a small abode, lit with the heat of a fire on the inside. Starving and tired, she entered herself without thought for a simple knock or question. She was greeted by a wise looking man, his beard looking welcoming, contrasted by the yellow-emerald glow of weapons and equipment hanging at the back wall of his hut. His warm smile oddly reflected the life of a man still fighting, yet blessed with masterful skill. Invited in, Kohral walked through the doorway to meet the warmth of the fireplace's embrace, before sitting down on the one of man's chairs and falling quickly asleep. As Kohral slept, the man drank. She dreamt of finding the Wuju Bladesman, before suddenly mumbling his name in her sleep. This struck the man as an arrow to the brain as he jolted up and woke the girl. "I am sorry to wake you, but you fell asleep in my house a few hours ago, and I couldn't help but notice you speak my name. Do I know you?" The man, covered in flowing yellow and grey clothes, walked closer to the half awake Kohral. Suddenly, her eyes lit up as she realized and took in her surroundings. "You're him! You're the Wuju Bladesman!" Kohral jumped up, excited at what secrets he may hold. The man's face then drooped. "Oh. You're one of those people aren't you. I get enough people coming to find me every week, just leave me alone please. I have nothing more to teach. If you want some real information go and find my apprentice. His name is Wukong, a talking monkey. Go towards Baijin pass, you'll find him near there." As the man talked, Kohral had gone to observe his weapons. The Wuju Bladesman quickly rushed over with blinding speed to grab his long sword away from the girl. "These are very precious possessions, girl. It would probably also be better, for your safety, not to touch them." "That sword... I know the material. This is the same crystal! This is Wujitite! My tribe had a crystal deity known as Wujite, but, she was lost to the sands many years ago. Your sword is made of the same crystal present around my tribe and the same crystal that our great protector was made of." Kohral exclaimed, surprised. "Mister, I am about to embark on an amazing journey. One, that I left my family and tribe for, one that could change the world. I need you to train me, and prepare me for any mental or physical challenges a journey may give." The Wuju Bladesman thought for a moment, and given all the knowledge this girl possessed, he gave in. "Well, that material is where I got my title. Alright. Training begins tomorrow, you can stay some nights in my hut, but I want to know your name." "Kohral. My name is Kohral." She answered, excited for the day to come. As Kohral stepped outside the next day, she was met with a freezing breeze, chilling her to the bone. "Come. Training is better in the mountain air." The man said, Kohral reluctantly following him outside. "Breath in and out. Let the mountain air enter your lungs and find your inner self. Even in the cold, a flame still lives. It remains a flame, because it knows its inner self and its outer enemy, the cold. This is why it still flickers, weak or strong in the cold. I want you to try do this," The Bladesman explained. "Do you know any fighting, Kohral?" "I don't believe I do. But in my village we have this dance that is a little like combat." Kohral replied. "Can you show it to me?" The Bladesman asked. "Uh, y-yeah, I guess so." Kohral agreed, nervous as she got up. She had never performed the specific dance in front of strangers before. 'Strike forward, leap, twist, release my left arm.' Kohral kept saying this to herself as she performed the move several times for the man. "I don't believe it..." The Bladesman exclaimed. "This is a form of wuju! Or, the physical style at very least. Kohral, do you realise what pathway you may have unlocked? We need not train you to fight, for this dance already accomplishes that. We must get to teaching you the mental preparation immediately." Star struck, Kohral replied, anxiety brewing. "But, master, this is just a dance?" The Bladesman replied, "No my pupil, this is not just a dance. You said your tribe had a strong basis around Wujitite crystals. I'm sure the art of wuju must be practiced in some form there. To make this dance combat ready, I must teach you the mental side of wuju." And so they did. Over weeks of training, Kohral had picked up what would normally have taken years, in just over two months. By understanding herself, and understanding her enemies, Kohral had perfected Wuju style. Before departing the man, Kohral told him that she felt a calling to Shurima, and so, with a quick goodbye, and a grateful thank you, she left, with supplies given to her by the man. On her way, she met many thugs and thieves in towns, trying to rob or kidnap her, for the world is a big place for a young teenager as her. She began to realise her parent's worries, and also began to miss them, which, least to say, felt strange to her. Kohral was still confident however, armed with her now lethal dance, and Wuju style. Eventually, she found herself drawn to a small cave, lit with tiny crystals, among the outskirts of the Shuriman region. Her shoes filled with sand upon entering the cave, as the sand was unusually soft, as if someone had been going in and out. Out of the black, a giant, glowing, crystalline figure, floating almost precisely on its tip, yet looking as if it could unbalance at any moment. "Why are you here?!" It yelled. "I am Kohral, granddaughter of Hazume. I believe you knew him." Kohral explained. The creature calmed, as the surrounding crystals formed back around, with a small, solitary purple flame, seemingly containing a face, sitting atop the body. "I feel a calling Wujite," Kohral continued, "to find you and complete a destiny foretold." "There is no more destiny." Wujite replied. "I must help rebuild an empire fallen now. Ionia is safe." "But, Ionia is your home! You protected and honoured us." Kohral retorted. "I have no home dear child! Only purpose." Wujite conveyed, the flame glowing more fiercely. Kohral spoke again, "I was once told that a flame still lives in the cold because it knows its inner self and knows its enemy, the cold. That is why it still flickers. Do you know your inner self?" Wujite stopped, as she calmed down to think. "I sensed a great discord in the deserts of Shurima, still brewing since the betrayal of the nation's emperor millennia ago. It is part of my duty as a protective deity to serve the world and help it recover from ashes, just as I did with your grandfather and Ionia." "I think I can help you find your inner self," Replied Kohral. "I can see clearly the terrible things that have ravaged this desert. Once I help you, will you help me?" In response to the offer, Wujite acknowledged. "Alright, child. Help me in my world aiding journey, and I will return with you to Ionia to give your tribe assurance of my status." With the deal made, Wujite bonded with Kohral in a blinding flash of purple light. Wujite now had a girl acting as her inner spirit, and Kohral had Wujite as her outer shell. With an Ionian and a crystal God bonded once again, the duo now seek to right issues all across Runeterra, and each present a force to be reckoned with.

*Please give any criticism, positive or negative. I'm really proud as to how this concept came together after a few months of creative block.

Changelog:

*Nerfed ultimate-E reduced cooldown stuff. Added clarity to E to give better sense of power/weakness. (21st July)

Alright, cool champion. Kind of a melee area control mage. Which brings me to one point, that's not exactly balance related, but just fluff. It looks like a lot of her abilities involve magic issued from a god and crystals and stuff. Wouldn't AP scaling make more sense than AD? Ahh, that's not important to the review though.

Anyway, so a lot of this champion looks awesome, on paper, but makes me stop to think "how would this really work?"

Like the passive, she gains stacks then on her next auto-attack either dashes toward or away from her opponent. Well, how does she decide to move toward or away? Does she click, a spot, then makes her auto-attack, then moves to the spot? Because that seems kind of complicated an input for something that the player doesn't exactly have total control over.

It might be easier to just say she dashes toward or away from her target, and I'm personally arguing for going forward only. She seems pretty aggressive. Or, other idea, what if it's toward the enemy when she is with Wujite but away when she is not with Wujite? Makes it a bit more complicated, but still easy to do in the heat of a fight and makes sense to want to go in, drop Wujite and get some separation quickly.

Now the Q, seems cool. Drops a big damage dealing monster on the field. A bit limited since in effect Wujite is just a kind of weak AOE spell. But, the damage can be big since it's single target, and it can probably block paths which adds a whole other use for the spell.

However this line jumps out to me:

Each party can attack individually during this time, but Kohral will not attack if she is directing Wujite to.

Well, how can Kohral direct Wujite? The usual method for directing minions is to have a spell that is used just for that (Malzahar's space-aids) or by clicking the ability that spawned the minion and then clicking on the target (Shaco and Annie's ults) but Kohral has no means of doing either of those things. Since hitting the Q again would just bring Wujite back to Kohral. There just doesn't seem a way to direct Wujite's auto-attacks. Though I will say, the W is a neat way to get Wujite to where you want to go.

W is good. Maybe a bit overloaded, but again I'm a little curious why a magic tether does physical damage.

E is awesome. But I'm just so confused how it will work. What if there is no opposite wall? How strange would it be to angle this thing right. I think the ability would be better if instead of marking two walls it instead creates two small crystals a certain distance apart. Getting near those crystals improves move speed, and can do it's trap idea to anyone between them. This would even work better for the ultimate since you can just say that the ult is a ring of these crystals for the interaction between the ult and her E would make more visual sense.

Then there's the R. Again, really like it, in concept. But there's a bit I don't think you've anticipated. So the E has a 1.85 second stun. While in the R area she'll be sending an E every 2 seconds. That is not enough time for the enemy to react. If you get someone within the R and they're near the middle they will be permanently stunned and there will be nothing they can even hope to do. What's worse is none of their allies could even try to help since it would involve getting within this circle of pure crystalline death. Maybe add that when in the R circle on the first E hit will stun an opponent?

Well that's all I have for constructive criticism on what was actually written. If I may add one small thing. Going over the abilities, I really got that Wujite was a crystal behemoth god monster. But the whole Kohral was a dancer thing did not come through nearly as well. I don't have any suggestion how to really fix that though.

Anyway I hope this helped. It's a cool champion, good job.

Bump?
