It's that time again guys and gals! The CCOS for August 2015 is winding to and end and the numbers are in. And may I just say that it was a close one. The winner this month won by the microscopic margin of only TWO points, but that's honestly a testament to all the entries this month. From what I could tell everyone had brought in their A-game and it was an absolute pleasure to read through all of them. But I wasn't the only one either! This month please give an huge thanks to this month's volunteer judges:

Bearly Leah, FloRaider42, and last but certainly not least DerekTheFerret!

All three of them left a lot of comments and this month rivals some of the highest amount of specific feedback in CCOS history! Seriously, it is a huge time commitment to go through this many champion concepts and I know I can't thank them enough, so help me out a bit? :D

######I am currently copying the feedback from their individual forms as we speak. So if you don't see feedback in your slot, come back a little later and I'll have probably gotten to it.

#The winner of the August CCOS is:

#Vivian, The Siren's Song by BowieTheNifty! With a total of 265/300 (88.3%). Congratulations!

#Runner-ups

|Place|-----------------------------Concept----------------------------------|------------Author-------------|---------Score-------- |- |2 | Vespax, The Hivekeeper | SkrillRKnight | 263/300 (87.6%) | |3 | Mama Berg, The Mother of the Hills | TheFirstGokun | 262/300 (87.3%) | |4 | Evánethys, The Lavendar Amethyst | The Anagram King | 260/300 (86.6%) | |5 | Kelai, the Wall of Ionia | Nikushimi Zero | 252/300 (84.0%) |

#And YOU get something, and YOU get something!

Don't fret if you didn't make the leaderboards, you'll still be entered into the CCOS Official Archive as well as a good chance at getting some useful feedback to your concept from this month's judges.

Find your concept's feedback here! Steps to access:

  1. click link
  2. page 1 (Final Count) is a quick way to see all the scores, switch to Page 2 (Judging) by clicking the tab at the bottom. This is where the specific feedback is.
  3. be sure to scroll to the right to find the feedback for your concept. The spacing can get weird do don't be afraid to zoom out a bit to scroll more evenly!

Be sure to tell me of you have any trouble accessing the document, I'll be sure to help out as much as I can and can give you your score directly if needed.

#Next Month!

Judges. Always need em! E-mail me at '[email protected]' with your IGN (in-game username) if at all interested. There's absolutely no harm in giving it a shot! All you need is an interest in concepts, time and an opinion. So unless you're an old time-locked wizard or a unfeeling monstrosity from another dimension you're eligible to judge!

Also, to note on this. There is absolutely no harm in giving judging a shot but having to walk away for whatever reason, time constraints, family, emergencies or otherwise. This all purely voluntary at all points in the process, the only catch is I can only use the scores of someone who finished all the concepts.

#The CCOS is going to be social! Social media that is.

Long story short: I have a twitter! I've had one for awhile but never once used it, and I'm planning to use it for CCOS notifications and to give out links. Unsurprisingly the account is @Armamalum, and if you'd like a much easier time finding the CCOS posts and news be sure to follow.

Please note that this is not a cheap way to get followers. I have not used Twitter at all and do not plan to in the future except for CCOS news as it stands right now. If it turns out to work well enough I may create a completely independent CCOS twitter.

I noticed you had some down votes, so I upvoted this. But why would someone down vote results, salty?

Also! I can't argue much with the kit critiques, they're all quite valid questions and concerns. I'll take everything into account, and improve Mar'Dok accordingly when I get the chance. As for concerns I can address:

  • I know its a little vague why Mar'Dok attacks, but I kept it a little vague for a reason, while still hinting at it. The narrator mentioned their cargo, and how it had to be worth a fortune for what they were going to be paid. Its this mysterious cargo that Mar'Dok wanted, and craved. Still pretty vague, I know, since its never said what the cargo is, but I thought it was worth pointing out. Another big point to show was how Mar'Dok ripped the life force from his victims, but this was more towards a wasteful/utility side more so than pure hunger.

  • The W as it is is a bit too op, perhaps. It would be better off with a damage cap, potentially scaling off of Health or MR. For the judge that voiced this concern, do you think this would be an effective balance?

  • I noticed another judge said that Mar'Dok didn't seem to have a lot of reasons for joining the League, and that's mostly because he was designed with the current lore style in mind, a world without the IoW. However, if he did need a reason, it would probably be to consume valuable weapons/artifacts, and the power/life of all that Runeterra had to offer.

  • Synergy seemed to be another big concern. I see that he doesn't have that typical flow you get with a lot of champions, and I would contribute this to either too much or too little utility. Perhaps the W creates too much utility, though its something we haven't really seen before. I would've loved to give him a dash or charge, but I intended for Mar'Dok to be odd, and immobile. I'm not sure what I could do to fix this, per say, but the least I can do is think it over a bit.

Thanks to the judges for their contribution, and Malum for having me. I hope to raise the bar in the next CCOS.

I am a little surprised that Vivian actually won. There was so much good competition out there. Still I am glad to see so many interesting concept coming about. After reading some of the feed back, I could brush up on her a little more. Have been thinking about making some little tweaks that weren't mentioned but could help. Anyways awesome month for the CCOS in my eyes. Honestly I really liked Vespax, The Hive Keeper. So to you SkrillRKnight, I salute you and your creative mind.

Since this was my first time judging I hope I did everything right and that my feedback was helpfull and intelligible. It was very fun to explore all your interesting concepts and I am not suprised that the final decision was so close seeing that all entries were really well made.

I am very sorry that I was unable to give feedback to all concepts (missed three), because of time constraints and that some comments were more eloborate/helpfull than others. If you want to finally get or hear additional feedback feel free to ask me [preff: by answering to this comment] and I will try to reply asap.

Well, I may not have won (much like last time), but I am quite happy that my champion has made the leaderboard again. ^_^ Means I'm getting slightly better at this. Lol.

Valen, the Displaced professional was tied for second last time, and Kelai, the Wall of Ionia was 5th this time. ^_^ I'm quite proud.

Happy to have been a judge for everyone this round! I've judged before and I can say that you guys really raised the bar this time around. Keep creating those concepts. If you have any questions about the judging process don't be afraid to ask!

Hrm. Labor Day vacation prep stopped me from working on Clover sadly to say. She still needed a lot of resource balancing before I could even finish tuning her ability numbers or finish other parts of her flavor. I'll finish those up this month time permitting, but look forwards to me pressing forth with a stronger showing this month!

Man, forgetting to link my challenge when I remade the Mar'Dok post really killed me it looks like, though not sure if it'd have been enough to win.

Well, GG everyone!

So an instant kill at 15% health is toxic and has no counterplay, but an instant kill at 0% is fine?... Huh? This is literally the same thing as "take 15% more damage".

Interesting to see one judge straight up give a 0 for the optional objective without explaining what the problem was. :/
