New/Expanded gameplay effects brainstorming thread!
What are some gameplay effects you think are not currently in the game/are not fully explored in game. These can be crowd control effects, buffs, or forms of damage be sure to add why you think these would be cool and what interesting tactics and strategies could be used with these effects.
I'll throw in a few of my own as examples.
- direction based soft cc. Call it "tug" or "gravity" effect
This cc would be a version of the vector speed boosts some champions (such as volibear) have, but applied as a buff or debuff to another champion. It would require a focal point (either a cast point or a champion) and anything moving towards it would be speed boosted, anything moving away would be slowed. This could be a great way to have an engage tank that doesn't rely on hard gapclosers to get in, they could usher their team in while reverting enemies from getting away. Another skill I could see it on would be a whirlpool or hurricane effect on a support, casting it on the ground to gain soft zone control instead of the traditional " step on this point and you're dead" that zone control oriented champs usually sport.
- "Eye of the Storm" range filter
This is meant to promote a meaningful interaction between melee and ranged champs. Create a VERY small zone in which champions inside are protected from attacks that originated more than ~300 units away. The upside is protection from ranged poke, the downside is grouping yourself for a real vulnerability to AOEs-an Orianna could Counterplay it by dropping a command:Attack which did no damage, but then follow up with a truly devastating Shockwave originating from the ball.
- true "hallucinations".
I love the idea of having illusions that only one affected enemy can see. This idea would be for a Shaco rework. It would be a skill that targets an enemy champion and causes not just one but a series of Shaco clones to appear and attack an enemy champion. The affected enemy sees them as perfect copies of Shaco, indistinguishable from the real thing, but the rest of the enemy team sees them as nothing but pale shadows, obviously not the real thing. The move would have devastating impact on a single enemy if their team doesn't help by pinging to point out the illusions. Illusions would also be kill able by a single shot from an unaffected champ, but be immune to spells. So rather than getting a flat damage steroid out of his one illusionary copy, Shaco could get a ton of incremental boosts out of his swarm of evil clowns. Bonus points if the affected enemy team member gets a freaky screen effect and circus music.
