Ooh, a mysterious villain, could this guy be an enemy in disguise? The madman who created the Noxian monster he fought in the video? The creator, perhaps, of other noxian monsters including Urgot?

maybe I'll finally find out if Ekko rolled with Vi and Jinx! Maybe we'll find out if Ekko has gained eternal youth from his invention, and the little kid with the glasses is Viktor?

Or maybe not. Maybe he's just some complete and utter random schmoe who is, ONCE AGAIN, totally unconnected to anyone or anything besides his artistic aesthetic tying him to wherever he's supposed to be from.

Grimy = Zaun, Evil = Noxus, Good = Demacia, Asian = Ionia, Steampunk = Piltover, Zombie = Shadow Isles, Icy = Freljord, Purple = Void. We get it. They're from places. That does not mean you are "creating a world" it just means you've sorted your unconnected one dimensional meaningless action figures into boxes.

The worst part is, Narrative is probably gonna clap their hands and say "Immersion achieved, now we don't have to do shit until the next champion release. Boy oh boy are we doing such a good job. Thanks again for the minor assist, Art Team".

First, thanks for all the kind words and thoughtful discussion.

This is my opinion: Ekko is a character whose personality really excited us. With the comic and the trailer we wanted to tell stories about Ekko to introduce him to our world, to see what he's made of, to see what drives him, motivates him, breaks him. The story for the comic actually came out early in the champion's development, and did have a few teases to other champs. Rest assured, there was NOTHING substantial in these teases, just words to describe other characters. It was like Ekko offhandedly mentioning "the Machinist". It was an allusion to Viktor. Ultimately, those teases distracted from the story. As any writer worth their salt will say: if it distracts from the story, it's the first thing to get cut.

Having other LoL characters fully present in these tales would shift the emphasis away from Ekko to the interactions with other champions.
