[CCC] January call for judges and much more!
Hey all! If you missed my post yesterday, here’s the much more official announcement:
This and future CCC entries will be starting on the second monday of every month. (That’s the 12th this month people!)
Same deal as before. One week (from noon:12th to noon:19th EST) is when you can submit a link to your entry. After that, 2 weeks will be given to the judges and the last week will be given for the final announcements and as a “shit happens” buffer. The only real change is the start date.
Things to note:
- Do NOT post entries HERE. This post is just a heads-up, look out for the entry post on the 12th.
- While the start has changed, accepted concept are still confined to posted within the month of January. WIP that were started before and reposts of previous posts are still not allowed. Feel free to start working on a concept beforehand, I simply care about when it’s posted.
- This post does signify me looking for January judges, so if you’re interested in helping me out send an e-mail to ‘[email protected]’ with your IGN and I’ll walk you through it. It’s time consuming but not difficult, so if you’re curious try it out!
Changes
With the new year I’m shaking up the CCC. Over the last month I’ve put the CCC on hold so I can re-examine the CCC’s structure and try to make it better. So if you’re interested in what I’ve got in store with logistics and the like read on. If not, just skip to the comments.
New role: Host. Effectively the organizer. Host is not a judge, however, due to some new shenanigans happening that’ll hopefully make the CCC more enjoyable. This will be me for a while, but as I’m not going to be around forever I’m thinking it may be a good idea to consider how I can pass along the torch. (No worries, I’m not actually thinking about doing that anytime soon!)
Host Favorites. This will be a post in the ‘dead weeks’ of the judging period where the host will show some specifically awesome entries in the contest. These won’t get any medals or anything but will be shown in a “check this out!” kinda way. This will hopefully serve as a fun break in the waiting that happened before.
Individual judge forms. While sacrificing a bit of transparency, I’m going to try out giving each judge their own form to fill out and wait for them to return it filled out. This eliminates the peer bias that was mentioned as a problem before (i.e. “oh, that judge gave him a 10, I should reconsider my scores”). The con to this is that there will be a lot more information that is invisible to all but the host, but hopefully you guys can trust me at this point ^_^.
Feedback/Critic Awards. Seeing as peer feedback and sharing is one of the main goals of the CCC I definitely want to honor those who take the time to help others. This one’s very tricky though, as it’s a bit hard keeping track of all but the most dedicated people. I’m going to leave this to the Host, as hopefully they’ll have enough time to look around.
Hall of Fame. I’ve been slow going on this I know, but a collection of the winners needs to be made! This next month marks the fourth CCC, so with the conclusion of this month I’ll finally be making this post. Better late than never, eh?
Name Change. Lastly, I need to change the name ‘CCC’ as it’s really confusing when put next to the MCCC, and let’s be fair they had the name first. So if you have any suggestions for a name and resultant acronym feel free to shout it out! I love me some clever ones! Right now my go-to is [CCOI] Champion Concept Open Invitational. A bit fancy, but meh.
I’m looking forward to your all’s entries and do your best to knock my socks off! And as as always, if you have any question or concerns please go ahead and ask.
#And remember! I’m looking for judge volunteers right now! And while you realistically have seventeen days to ask, the sooner you ask the easier it is for me, so if you’re at all interested help me out! E-mail me at [email protected]
