Abilities

Passive - Oathbound

Norska's soul is bound to his Longboat, which appears on the battlefield as an immobile ghost ship. Norska cannot move farther than 1600 units away from it, represented by ghostly cordage binding him to the Longboat that fades into view as he approaches the edge of Oathbound range. If displaced out of range by an enemy knockback attack, he is suppressed and dragged back into range by a phantasmal force at a speed of 250 units per second.

Norska can right click the Longboat from a distance of up to 400 units to jump on board and captain the Longboat, driving it around. Movement speed is increased by 35% and any incoming damage is split equally between Norska and the Longboat. He cannot attack or use abilities while captaining the Longboat, but left clicking the ground (after at least 1.5 seconds) causes him to jump off the Longboat and up to 400 units in the direction of the cursor.

The Longboat has a sight range of 250, 600 (+100 per level) points of health and 30 (+1.25 per level) armor and magic resistance. When destroyed, it "sinks" and becomes inert wreckage. Norska cannot captain the sunken Longboat or interact with it using abilities and is therefore bound to the area until it respawns after 15 (-0.4 per level) seconds at his location, resurfacing from underground.

  • Death: The Longboat sinks, then respawns at the fountain when Norska respawns.
  • Recall: The Longboat is transported to the fountain.
  • Teleport: Cannot be cast unless Norska is captaining the Longboat.

Q - Pillage

  • Mana cost: 60/65/70/75/80
  • Cooldown: 10 seconds

Norska leaps to a target point within 500 units at a speed of 1500, gaining 30/40/50/60/70% attack speed and 20/25/30/35/40% additional bonus AD for 3 seconds. When it wears off, Norska receives 1 gold for each 200 damage inflicted with autoattacks or abilities (unless he is dead).

This ability can be used while Norska is captaining the Longboat. Instead of leaping out, he swings from the ship's rigging, extending its cast range to the full 1600 unit Oathbound range and increasing the duration by 2 seconds.

W - Blood Eagle

  • Mana cost: 70/75/80/85/90
  • Cooldown: 12 seconds

Both Norska and the crew of the Longboat throw a phantasmal chain at the target point within 600 units of Norska. Their paths intersect at the target point, similar to Lulu and Pix casting Glitterlance. Norska's chain has a range of 600 units, while the Longboat crew's chain has a range of 2400 units. Both chains pass through enemy minions, dealing 40/70/100/130/160 (+50% bonus AD) physical damage, and latch on to the first enemy champion in their path.

The chains travel at a very high speed and are close to instant, but there is a 0.6 second cast delay.

A champion struck by only one chain takes damage and is pulled 300 units towards the source of the chain. When a champion is struck by both chains, the victim is pulled to the nearest spot directly between Norska and the Longboat and ripped apart, receiving x2 damage and a 1.5/1.7/1.9/2.1/2.3 second stun.

E - Doomed to Plunder

  • Mana cost: 60
  • Cooldown: 20/17/14/11/8 seconds

Passive When Norska is not captaining the Longboat, its crew shoots phantasmal arrows at the 2 nearest enemies within 750 range of the Longboat, prioritising champions, dealing 20/35/50/65/80 (+25% bonus AD) physical damage per second. Whenever an enemy champion is being targetted for 6 uninterrupted seconds, the crew uses a catapult to hurl a ground targetted boulder at the champion's location, dealing 100/150/200/250/300 (+100% bonus AD) physical damage in a 250 radius after 0.75 seconds.

Active Norska targets a point within 1500 range of the Longboat and commands it to set course to the target point at a speed of 250 units per second. If this causes Norska to exceed Oathbound range, he is suppressed and dragged back into range at the same speed. The passive is disabled while the Longboat is moving.

R - Into the Lofnar

  • Mana cost: 100
  • Cooldown: 180/140/100 seconds

Passive Upgrades the active component of Doomed to Plunder, enabling the Longboat to move at a speed of 400/600/800 instead of 250 during Pillage.

Active Halts the Longboat's movement if it is moving, then causes a roiling 475 radius whirlpool to form around its location for 2.5 seconds. The whirlpool suppresses enemies, dragging them towards the centre at a speed of 400 until the whirlpool completes, dealing 50/75/100 (+20% bonus AD) physical damage per second.

The Longboat is dragged under by the whirlpool, but can still be attacked and destroying it cancels the whirlpool. If the whirlpool completes successfully, the Longboat sinks, but respawns after 1.5 seconds at full health.

Champion stats

Health: 590 (+100) Health regen: 8.25 (+0.75) Mana: 300 (+30) Mana regen: 6.75 (+0.75) Range: melee - 125 Attack damage: 62 (+3.25) Attack speed: 0.65 (+2.75%) Armor: 25 (+3.5) Magic resist: 32.5 (+1.25) Movement speed: 345

Playstyle

Role

Jungling bruiser and initiator.

Recommended items: item 3718 item 3006 item 3742 item 3046 item 3022 item 3083

PvE

Norska moves between jungle camps in his Longboat and jumps out to farm each camp, using Pillage and the passive from Doomed to Plunder.

PvP

Norska's vulnerability is his Longboat. He cannot leave the area without moving the Longboat, and if it is sunk, he cannot move away at all until it respawns. Move it away from danger, but close enough to hit enemies with the arrows, and rush it into battle to use the ultimate.

#Lore

(A message in a mead bottle, written on dried bark. The message is written in modern Freljorsk interspersed with ancient runes of invocation.)

Captain Gangplank,

May this message find you before you meet your inevitable and miserable end.

We had a deal, remember? The Noxian shipping lanes were yours, Piltover's danegeld belonged to me and the gods alone. You gave your word, whatever a pirate's promise is worth. But the whole Guardian's Sea was not enough for you, was it? It was never enough. And why would Piltover pay me off just to have a powder monkey like you raid their port instead?

By the law of the dómur and the will of the gods, a free man's broken oath shall be repaid in blood, and the blood of their kin, and their kin's kin.

But you were afraid to face me in honourable combat, weren't you? You scurried around the rocks, hiding behind your cannons like the brandy-soaked coward you are. You must have thought you had me when one of your accursed balls tore off the Frostwolf's sails and set her adrift into the jaws of the Lofnar.

My crew tried to save themselves! Forsake their duty! They were sworn to serve me, and so they will! I stood between them and their boat like Thursgar before the giants! Blood was spilled in Hhel's name! Goddess of the underworld!

This battle is not over, Gangplank. I am the hammer of the gods, the instrument of their will!

I can hear the Maw in the distance, hungry as always! Its maddening roar on the wind! No escape! Jotann of the wolves! Lend me your strength - the strength to return from the dead! Kalista Hefndsdottir, daughter of Hhel! Hear me!

I see Hhel's face looking back at me from the abyssal depths! She knows! She heeded my prayer!

Gangplank, by the strength of my ancestors, from beyond the Halls I will return to have my revenge!

#CCOS Bonus: Share the Love ##Overview

I like the ‘bound to the ship’ concept, how it effects his skills and mobility, and really is unique thing to bring to the league. On top of that, how Riot are looking to really looking to make each champion super unique, and this theme follows on that.

##Abilities Passive I would have an cumulative factor to the speed that the phantasmal force drags him back to the ship once he is outside of his range of the ship. Additionally, you need to avoid the helpless feeling by passing through player generated terrain.

For example – Norska will be dragged back at a speed of 250 units per second, increasing by 100 every 1.0 seconds he remains outside of his range. Additionally, after 2.5 seconds of remaining outside of his range, the force will envelop him and allow him to pass through terrain to return to his ship.

Lastly, I think the respawn time is punishing, especially since the ship is not stated to have any protection, such as armor or damage resistance. I understand that the health split between the champ and the ship helps out with that, but late game when the boat could be 2 or 3 shot, it will feel too much and too long

If you don’t change the protection scheme, I would decrease the respond time by having the take 2 seconds off every second while he is within 250 units of the ship.

The teleport requirement seems brutal, but i just believe that you should be freedom to use you summor spells when not in any form of crowd control.

Q: Pillage Thematically accurate (jumping aboard another ship to fight then take their gold) and just fun sounding. This encourages me to want to fight. Just need a point of clarity – If you die before it wears off, you would receive no gold, right?

W: Blood Eagle First of all, cool skill name. Just need some clarity in the description of the skill. I understand they both fire like Lulu and Pix, but you said they will intersect. With the numbers… 1600 units away max range + 600 range on chains = 2400. If the ship is that far away, the 2200 range (albeit so long) is not long enough to make them interact at any point when this far out, casting the skill in certain directions.

If they don’t need to interest, then forget the previous paragraph. If they do, please allow the additional range. Also the ripped about portion of the skill, very nice. It adds a layer of skill needed to make the champ more effective. I like it.

E: Doomed to Plunder Passive

Good as is, but just some more clarity – the catapult is unit targeted or ground targeted. I have no issue with it being either, but I would personally like it to be ground targeted.

Active At first, I needed to think about the use of this skill. Then i added the passive together with it and viola, a mobile turret. Plus combo this with your ult, and anther productive use of it comes. I do need to know, how much vision does the boat provide. I mean this could be the convincing anti-baron/dragon weapon against an enemy team even if it provides even minor vision in the area. Just prepare to get flanked since they know your bound by a set distance. Well done ability to go with the rest of the kit.

Into the Lofnar Passive I think it just needs some scaling. Just one point into the ultimate and you get that benefit seems… wrong. This might be a personal design philosophy, so there is no onus on you to change it.

I would make the scaling as follows: 400 / 600 / 800 during Pillage

Active With the boat stopping, and not having a significant movement speed, the suppression effect seems to be more of a trap than an attacking feel. Even if you decrease the boat speed while it’s in effect, it can be used a ganking option, versus waiting till your allied lane opponent is pushed up, only to hope they walk into pending death with your ultimate. I do notice the somewhat large radius to enable the skill to be useful. Nice touch with the respawning of the ship at full health.

A very big thing about this skill: I see no damage on it… it is only a aoe suppression skill, or would it include some damage that the numbers just aren’t put in the description yet? If no damage, make the skill have decreased movement speed due to the ‘bad seas’. If it does do damage, keep it immobile as minor means of balancing.
