#REFERENCE:

Skad-La is a take on the Norse Goddess of the Hunt, Skadi, who is said to be unrivaled in her Ability to hunt any creature in all the realms.

#AUTHOR'S PHILOSOPHY:

So...yeah. Archer champion. I know, we already have two of them. However, neither of them really gives me an Archery feeling. Archers as far as I am concerned fire very slow, but do devastating damage. Specially hunters. One shot is meant to be decisive and Deadly. So, trying to make a more realistic take on an Archer, I created Skad-La, a very slow but very destructive ADC type of champion who, like a real hunter, needs precise setup, good positioning and a lot of patience to successfully be pulled off.

Additionally, I wanted to introduce a ranged Jungler who might actually function. It is a very experimental idea, so flaws are pretty much anticipated, but following the Huntress-Theme, I wanted Skad-La to be someone who really dominates the jungle with exceptionally healthy clears without being too fast.

#SUGGESTED LOOKS AND THEME STYLE:

http://magaimg.net/img/8sv2.jpg

I imagine her looking like one interpretation of Skadi, the Goddess of the Hunt. Clad in Wolfsfur and equipped with one bow, one surprisingly regular-looking Bow, stalking the Cold of the Mountainheight.

As for the Theme, well, enjoy. Again, this is meant to represent how hers would be like, it's not exactly the chosen Track, but along the lines in terms of sound and rhythm. Something that builds itself up with a hard Fortessimo, signing a slow but impending doom delivered with a sudden Finale by one shot.

#KIT:

  • PASSIVE SKILL: Make it Count Cooldown: 27 - 10 Seconds (-1 Second / Level)

After some time, Skad-La scans all nearby Champions for weakspots, marking them with "Weakspot Found" on her next Basic Attack. Weakspots remain exposed until Skad-La's Follow-Up Basic Attack on the Inflicted Champion or until 10 seconds after they were applied. Enemy Champions inflicted with "Weakspot Found" will take Skad-La's next Basic Ability as well as 4 - 10% (Increases at Levels 6/11/16) of their Max. Health as True Damage and their Armor and Magic Resistance is reduced by 40% for the nexrt 3 Seconds. The Cooldown begins after a Champion has been inflicted with "Weakness Found" from this Ability.

Additionally, Skad-La's Basic Attacks cannot Crit and she does not gain any Attack Speed from any sources. However, Skad-La gains double Attack Damage from all Sources.

Skad-La immediately defeats small Monsters and if Skad-La attacks small Monsters from a Brush, she will not trigger Monster Aggro.

  • Q-SKILL: Swift Repositioning. Cooldown: 12/11.5/11/10.5/10 Seconds Costs: 40 Mana

Passive: Skad-La gains 30% movement Speed inside Brushes. Movement Speed Bonus prevails for 1 Second after leaving a Brush.

Active: Skad-La immediately gains Invisibility for 2/3/4/5/6 Seconds, or until her next Basic Attack, and 20/25/30/35/40% increased Movement Speed for the Duration. If Skad-La enters a Brush, her Invisibility duration Refreshes. This Effect occurs only once per Ability use on each Brush.

  • W-SKILL: Setting Bait Cooldown: 16/15/14/13/12 Seconds Costs: 40 Mana Range: 750

Skad-La attaches Bait to a target Ally Minion or Champion for 8 Seconds. If an enemy Champion kills the ally Minion or deals damage to the ally Champion with Bait they immediately are marked with "Weakspot Found". Champions marked by this Ability cannot receive a Mark from "Make it Count" within 3 Seconds of the previous Mark being Consumed.

"Bait" Can be placed on Monsters to Root them until Skad-La has struck them with two Basic Attacks instead and applies a "Weakness Found" on them After the 2nd Basic Attack.

  • E-SKILL: Fleshwound Cooldown: 10/9/8/7/6 Seconds Costs: 40 Mana Range: 750

Skad-La enhances her next Basic Attack, slowing enemy Champions by 20/25/30/35/40% for 3 Seconds, decaying over the Duration. Additionally, for 1.5 Second after the Slow, enemy Champions inflicted receive 60% reductions on any healing or Health Regeneration from any sources.

Large and Epic Monsters struck by a Basic Attack enhanced with "Fleshwound" instead take additional 15% Missing Health as Magic Damage instead.

  • R-SKILL: Alpha-Huntress Cooldown: 140/130/120 Seconds Costs: 90/100/110 Mana Range: 1000

Passive: Skad-La regenerates 1/3/5% of her missing Mana whenever she uses an Basic Attack on Monsters.

Active: Skad-La prepares a Poisoned Arrow for her Next Basic Attack fires it at a target Champion, dealing 200/400/600 (+50% Bonus AD) as Magic Damage over 10 Seconds. During this Time, Skad-La's Basic Attacks deal 5/5.5/6% of the Champion's Missing Health as bonus Magic Damage. Champions Defeated within those 10 Seconds Refund half of the Manacost and reduce this Ability's Cooldown to 30/20/10 Seconds.

#TRIVIA ABOUT THE KIT:

  • Skad-La's W and E resets Auto Attack timers.

  • Skad-La's Q gives an Indicator (Similar to old Rengar's ! whenever he was Nearby) to enemy Champions if she is within Range of her Basic Attacks.

  • Skad-La's Q passive and active Movement Speed stack Additively but only with each others.

  • Skad-La's Abilities, all of them, are unable to proc Skill-Based Item Effects such as Lyandris or Ludens due to all of them being Auto-Attack Enhancers.

  • Skad-La's Bait is visible to everyone when applied to Minions and ally Champions, but only to her if set on Jungle Monsters.

  • Skad-La's Passive works as follows: AA1 applies the mark, AA2 consumes it.

#STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:

STRENGTHS:

  • Skad-La is very strong in clearing the Risky half of the Jungle, aka Redbuff Side, due to her ability to immediately execute Small Monsters without triggering Any Aggro, meaning she can kill all Normal Krugs and small Raptors before going for the Big Raptor and the Ancient Krug.

  • Skad-La is exceptionally rewarding for setting all her skills up, moreso than any other Ranged Champion so far.

  • Skad-La's Ganking Potential is equally powerful due to her Ability to gain a short, but instant Invisibility connected to a large Movement speed Boost.

  • Skad-La's Ability to move fast in Bushes and her superior Attack Range make invading her difficult.

  • Her Ability to ignore defences almost entirely make her a favorable Tank-Killer.

-- WEAKNESSES:

  • Skad-La has very low Attack Speed and her Window of time is limited, making brawls and extended fights extremely punishing.

  • Skad-La is very Snowball-dependant and if she falls behind, she will most likely stay behind.

  • Skad-La's Inability to Crit and the heavy reliance for setups make her a very Niche Pick.

  • Her Q is her only defensive Ability, making her very vurnerable to champions who are good at sticking close to her.

  • Skad-La passively suffers from bad Positioning in ALL cases.

#CHAMPION SYNERGIES:

  • Initiation: Champions like Malphite Alistar Amumu Leona and Maokai Are exceptionally good with Skad-La due to their Ability to keep a champion in Place for a really long time, disabling enemy Repositioning which makes sure Skad-La continues possessing the Advantage.

  • Wounding Down: More of an Earlygame-Advantage. Skad-La depends a lot on Snowballing, so having lanes with strong Trading Potential like Darius Fiora Camille Illaoi for Toplane, Brand Lissandra Neeko Ziggs for Midlane and Ashe Caitlyn Lucian Varus in Botlane are very strong matches for making sure enemy Laners are Low so Skad-La can rush in for the kill.

#COUNTERS:

Yasuo The most Obvious counter on this list since Skad-La has 2 things Yasuo loves to deny entirely: Window of Opportunity and Basic Attack-heavy Kit. Good Yasuo's can singlehandedly put a stop to Skad-La even if she's stupidly ahead.

Elise Is one of the only, if not THE only jungler who can give Skad-La a hard time with Ganks due to the Ability to follow with a counter-gank. Elise does essentially everything Skad-la does. Healthy Clears, Max and Missing health Damage, strong Setup. However, Elise possesses a stronger all-in Potential which tips the rivalry in her favor.

RekSai Rek-Sai possesses the Ability to Track Skad-La down even with her Invisibility and can keep up with her if she tries to Escape from any Fights. More of a Skill-Matchup thought.

Zac Zac is the one thing Skad-La absolutely hates: Dragging everything out. Skad-La's attack speed is too low to successfully kill all 4 of Zac's passive Blobs and Zac's Range of Initiation is bigger than hears. Combining that with 2 Abilities to forcibly reposition her make Zac a problem because he can dismantle any situationary advantages Skad-La possesses.

#LORE:

The Freljord possesses many tribes dedicated to different traditions, cultures and beliefs which differ in the most mindblowing ranges. However, there are certain Tribes who reject any notion associated with Belief and only rely on the harshness that Survival teaches one.

Skad-La was born as the daughter of the Headshunter, her Father, and the Alchemist, her Mother, fated to inherit great responsibility with her Tribe once she came of age. She spent her life studying the wildlife of the Freljord, learned to survive in this godforsaken cold and mastered the Ability to use the bow in the harshest winds of the Mountainpeeks to hit her targets with one shot. Mastery of this degree was necessary, her tribe was very small so arrows were sparcely produced from what little wood and Steel could be used for it.

However, the Tribe's refusal in any Belief's brought them to conflict with the demigods of their lands. Particularily Volibear found great distaste in the existence of a Tribe that refused to fight and struck with all of his enraged Fury, destroying the Village and killing everyone but Skad-La. He was exceptionally brutal with her parents, splitting her Father's skull in half and biting her mother's jugular out of her throat. She was taught that loss and death was the fate of 'Cowards' as her village was described, and if she were not to fight against the Freljord, to challenge all it had to give and to come supreme, she too would face a violent and bloody death.

Afraid and traumatized to the point where she remained paralized for almost an entire day, Skad-La obeyed once she recovered from her shock and soon began a merciless killing Spree to appease the Demigod, using her father's Bow, crafted from the tusks of a Drüvask, and her mother's Flask of Ajunta-Poison, imbued with a bit of magic to never run empty. Skad-La has never forgiven everything that the Demigods stand for and has grown deep hatred for the Freljord for allowing Volibear to both exist and be tolerated and even worshipped by the population.

Every time Skad-La begins her next hunt, she begs for the opportunity to face and defeat mightier beings until she one day learns to kill what is deemed unkillable, yearning to find the secret to killing Volibear and every single Freljordian following the footsteps of the Demigods, hoping to cast them all into the void of Oblivion so that the Freljord may never experience the cruelty of a god's faith or the terror of their wrath.

This is an effort post if I've ever seen one in my life, and it's a dang shame you won't get much feedback for it.

I'd like to divide my response into parts, so...get a drink man, it'll be a bit of a read.

Lore Ah, a fellow lore enthusiast. Well, it's nicely conceptualised. While she's an archer, much like Ashe Ashe, she fights for very different reasons - Ashe seeks to unite the Freljord under the single vision of a people in prosperity, while Skad-La is much more individualistic, fighting a personal war against the tyranny of the gods - namely Volibear Volibear. She slays creatures of ever-increasing size, in a bid to learn how to kill the Thunder's Roar himself - but in doing so, she is doing his very bidding - slaughtering almost indiscriminately. To this end, she shares parallels with my concept for Avasha (she is also pretty much reduced to being a killing machine, in order to satiate the twisted blade that binds her soul). I like it. I really like it. Hopefully she will be getting some colour stories in the coming months.

PASSIVE SKILL: Make it Count

So like Quinn Quinn or Fiora Fiora, it seems like Skad-La senses her opponents' weaknesses. However, the desc. is a bit unclear - it says the weakspot stays vulnerable until her next basic attack, yet when it is exploited, they take basic ability damage + % max health true damage? Please clarify that bit; can the mark only be popped by autoattacks, abilities, basic abilities, or...either? It makes more sense for it to be popped by attacks, since she's a huntress and so not all of her abilities deal damage. Also, how does the scanning process work? Are weakspots revealed on all nearby champions, some random ones, or one random one? And does popping one mark put all champion marks on CD, or just some of them? Because that will be a key factor in determining whether she's OP or not; if she can mark everyone at the same time it would be like a Quinn and Fiora passive on steroids.

Her not being able to crit doesn't make sense - there's nothing unique about her basic attacks that warrants this, like Ashe's ones (they apply a slow). Also, why does she deal more damage than her AD states? At level 11 alone, if she had around 200 AD, she'd be dealing 350 damage per hit - getting insane value for her money in terms of AD items. Each one would be so much more to her. Also, why do her abilities ignore so many resistances? Or is this also on a cooldown.

In short, I like the first part more than the second balance-wise.

Q-SKILL: Searching higher Ground

This is a fair ability, though the name might not make sense. I'd suggest something like Umbral Cloak, since it's a stealth ability.

W-SKILL: Setting Bait

6-second stun!? Good thing this doesn't apply to champions, or she'd be banned out of this world every pro game. No stun in League of Legends - or form of CC overall - lasts that long. Morgana Morgana's Q is famous for rooting people into the Leaverbuster tool but even it only lasts for 3 seconds at max rank.

In terms of lane interactions, I don't know about this. Basically the enemy gets punished for trying to CS with the tool, which raises the question - can they see it? If not, then it might be a bit unfair unless the animation is very clear, since they'd be punished for trying to play properly and farm by getting debuffed with 'weakspot found', which, as we already assessed, has the potential to do a lot of damage.

E-SKILL: Fleshwound

This might be a bit harsh because 3 seconds is a while in game terms, while they can't be healed at all. Maybe make it so they can't be healed at all for 1 second, then 60-75% Grievous Wounds applies for the remaining 2? I mean, stopping their innate health regen is a far-fetched ability - they basically can't regenerate health by any means because of one point-and-click spell. Otherwise, it's ok.

R-SKILL: Alpha-Huntress

The active is a bit underwhelming for an ultimate, so here's what I suggest:

First cast: Skad-La reveals an area of terrain, gaining true sight of all enemy champion in it.

Second cast: Skad-La hones her hunting prowess, and channels for 1 second as she prepares her secret weapon. She instantly gains 3 charges of Searing Bolts, which pierce the target enemy champion and deal magic damage over 3 seconds. These champions also take 10% bonus damage from her other abilities and basic attacks. Getting takedowns refunds a % of the mana cost.

Overall, nice concept! My throat's a bit dry so I'm gonna go and drink some water now, but I like the theme and lore - just work on the kit numbers.

Champions with fking stealth an instant NO from me.

Lapis8/29/2019, 11:36:30 AM1 votes

I think as a freljordian archer who also can't crit, she steps a bit too far into Ashe's territory.

Nice but...this realy looks like an Ashe skin more than a new completely original character with new ideas and spells...
