#ADRASTA, DEMACIA'S SHAME

Constructive comments/critique appreciated!

Kit Overview: Adrasta is a brawling fighter/diver with a little bit of assassin built in. She is designed to be a target-agnostic character capable of standing toe to toe with tanks and bruisers alike, but is rather vulnerable to ranged damage if she fails to land her engage on the target. Her build is likely to feature Phantom Dancer + Infinity Edge as a core, following up with pure tank items like Deadman's Plate.

Her ultimate is largely an experiment in forcing target prioritization -- left unchecked in a teamfight Adrasta is capable of bursting down nearly 90% of any target's health in a matter of seconds, but an aware team can shut her execution down with ease with either crowd control or the hardest control of all -- murder.

Lore Overview: An unknown identity behind a featureless mask, Adrasta has come to the conclusion that Demacia is troubled by corruption, weakened by compromise, and does not uphold its ideals. She has taken it upon herself to restore what she views as the "ideal" version of Demacia -- even if this course of action requires the violent purging of corrupting influence and the slaughter of those who would stand in her way.

That said, please allow me to present Adrasta, Demacia's Shame. The updated version, since I did post an older version a while ago. :)

#VISUALS & LORE Lore will be forthcoming in another post: it's too lengthy for this first post, and I'd rather get present as much as possible before you get lost in the lore (if you even enjoy reading lore).

Visually, Adrasta is a lithe, muscular woman wearing a white, blue, and gold outfit that is close-fitting, yet loose enough to move freely in. She has a white half-cape with gold trim and a Demacian sigil emblazoned on it which she keeps draped over her right shoulder, and her face is obscured by a featureless, expressionless mask.

She wields an enormous blade, which is often trailing behind her if not in use. The end of it is flattened off abruptly instead of coming to a point -- a mark of an executioner's blade.

#ABILITIES & MECHANICS On to the kit. I had originally included explanations of the design intent behind each ability, but it proved too long for the post -- I will happily provide these on demand.

Numbers are rough placeholders, and are subject to change.

All constructive comments/critiques are desired and appreciated, and any questions will be happily answered.

##EXECUTIONER'S EDGE [Passive] Adrasta gains no benefit from additional attack speed, instead converting it to bonus attack damage at a ratio of 1 bonus attack damage per 1% of attack speed.

Additionally, when she would critically strike, she instead deals bonus physical damage equal to 10% of the target's maximum hit points (increased to 15% with Infinity Edge). This damage gains the normal benefits of lifesteal, and is capped at 400 damage against monsters and minions.

##SCYTHING BLADE [Q]

Active: Adrasta swings her blade in a circle around herself, dealing 20 / 50 / 80 / 110 / 140 (+0.2 / 0.3 / 0.4 / 0.5 / 0.6 bonus attack damage) physical damage to enemies struck. She then slams her blade down in the direction of the initial cast, dealing damage equal to her auto-attack damage to all targets struck. The slam can critically strike (subject to modification from Executioner's Edge), and gains double Adrasta's usual critical strike chance.

Adrasta can move while the animation for this ability is occurring.

Cooldown: 12 / 11 / 10 / 9 / 8 seconds.

Visual Description: Adrasta spins her sword around her in a broad circle, starting from behind her and finishing behind her. She then lifts it overhead and brings it slamming down in front of her with great force.

##STRENGTH OF PURPOSE

Passive: Adrasta's abilities and auto-attacks that deal physical damage ignore 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% of her target's bonus armor.

Active: Adrasta gathers her strength and presses forward. She gains 50% tenacity and 15 / 25 / 35 / 45 / 55 armor and magic resistance for the next 4 seconds.

Cooldown: 12 seconds.

Visual Description: Adrasta briefly radiates a burst of golden light, and the golden lines on her costume glow for the duration of the effect.

##SWEEPING GUILLOTINE [E]

Active: Adrasta dashes up to 500 units in the target direction, then turns 180 degrees and strikes all enemies in a line extending 300 units in either direction (along the vector of the initial dash) from her final location for 70 / 90/ 110 / 130 / 150 (+0.8 bonus AD) physical damage. Enemies behind her are lifted and flung the same distance in front of her, and any enemies struck are slowed by 99% for .75 seconds.

Cooldown: 16 / 15 / 14 / 13 / 12 seconds.

Visual Description: Adrasta dashes forward, her great sword trailing behind her. At the end of her movement she spins around, lifting her blade up and slamming it forward, striking foes both immediate behind her and in front of her.

##PURGE THE GUILTY

Adrasta blinks to target enemy champion within 500 units, channeling for 2 seconds as she winds up for a killing blow. During this time the target is suppressed, and a golden ring with a 850 unit radius appears centered on the target's location. If Adrasta completes the channel she strikes a lethal blow, dealing 20 / 22.5 / 25% of the target's maximum health in True Damage, increased by 4 / 6 / 8% for every additional champion (other than herself and the target) within 850 units of the victim.

If Purge the Guilty kills the target, all enemies within 850 units are terrified for 1.5 seconds.

Cooldown: 150 / 130 / 110 seconds.

Visual Description: Adrasta swirls her cloak around her self and vanishes, reappearing next to her victim and immobilizing them as she dramatically prepares to strike. A beam of golden light highlights both of them, and a large circle marks the execution area.

Hello, I'll comment on your champion's kit.

SKILLS:

Passive: The Attack Speed to Bonus AD ratio is too high and too gold efficient. Refer to Holdenmicgroin for a good explanation why this is.

I would recommend a lower Hard Cap on the damage against minions and monsters that scales with level instead of 2x the Champion's AD. This is pretty abusable when claiming objectives such as Rift Herald/Dragon/Baron; you could effectively shred their HP, dealing damage almost equivalent to Smite. Also, I advise that you put a cooldown on this per target or lowering the damage, 10~15% Max HP is a lot.

Q: I have no quarrels with this. But I wonder if you can use this skill in unison with her E, seems like a pretty neat combo to have.

W: The bonus armor penetration feels too free here. I wonder if you can change this skill to something else. The kit feels like it lacks a bit of skill-based interaction, making it seem a bit to linear.

E: Seems fine to me. The range seems a bit subpar though. Does she automatically to move back to her initial location afterward?

R: This ult needs to be changed, it doesn't synergize well with her kit and leads to unhealthy gameplay. It doesn't scale with either her AD or Crit, making her passive seem unnecessary for the amount of damage this skill can pull off. Additionally, percentage true damage may influence Players to build tank rather than damage. This may be a stretch, but it reminds me of the Tank Yasuo fiasco that was a craze last year.

GAMEPLAY:

Like you said, this champion will be very susceptible to ranged attacks and poke; effectively makes her hard counters: Pantheon, Quinn, Jayce, Gangplank, Gnar, and Vladimir. (Also including Jax and Fiora).

However, there is a huge flaw in this design. She lacks strong trade potential especially in extended trades and all-ins early game. The only effective trade method I can see is using her E to attack enemies that are attempting to CS, auto attack, and Q. But this is incredibly easy to bait out, which will then lead to severe punishment later. Even if you do manage to pull this combo off, it will more than likely not severely damage your opponent. If your opponent is smart, he or she will go all-in. You have nothing left to fight back with other than your auto attacks afterwards.

Having no auto attack speed bonuses makes her EXTREMELY reliant on that one auto attack that hits. But, due to most likely having relatively high amounts of Attack Delay (from no attack speed), many knowledgeable players will harass you while you are winding up your auto attacks (cancel them with CC) or when you attempt to CS. Also, due to lacking innate sustain or ranged skills, the constant harass will make it almost impossible for this champion to lane effectively.

As a champion that relies on buying Critical Strike Chance, you need to have a strong lane advantage early game. These items are relatively expensive and leave you to be fairly squishy. I recommend deciding where you want your champion to have her power-spike and base if off of there.

NOTE: Personally, I feel Critical Strike Chance is one of the worst stats to base a champion around. Champions based solely off of Crit require a handholding passive such as Battle Fury or Way of the Wanderer to grant bonus Crit Chance for their damage to be consistent. This is also to diversify their item choices and set power-spikes, otherwise they would lose 3~4 item slots building Crit.

#LORE INTRODUCTION

"Demacia. Shining city of law and order. A bright beacon of civilization in a war-torn world. Ha.

There is a dark undercurrent that runs through these streets. A lurking malevolence that festers beneath the grand facade, twisting the noble ideals of our once fair nation into a hideous mockery of what we used to stand for.

Justice is dead.

Most cannot see it: they are blinded by their unwavering trust in a corrupt institution. Those who do see it -- those who would speak out against the spreading plague -- simply...vanish. We find them later, bloodstained, torn apart, left to rot in the dark alleyways the crown would have you believe are safe to walk.

Those found with bloody knives over the corpses of the innocent are punished, certainly...but what of those who pulled the strings? Men and women who, behind closed doors and shuttered windows, speak in murmurs and whispers to those whose allegiances are dictated only by the luster of gold? The Crownguard won't hunt them down: the inquisitors turn a blind eye against the nobles who buy their loyalty, and the perpetrators are left to plot again and again, never once getting their hands dirtied by the blood that stains their souls crimson.

Demacia's laws are cast aside. Demacia's justice is bought and sold. I will not be. This nation needs to be cleansed, and if we cannot heal the corruption through words than we will wash it out on tides of blood. I will put on the mantle of judge, jury, and executioner, and I will show Demacia that true justice does not bow down beneath the weight of gold.

Let the guilty tremble. I am coming for them."

#THE EXECUTION [Short Story]

“Lies.”

The crowd falls silent as the word lashes across the square, sharp and impossibly loud in the evening air. It echoes down the adjacent streets, booming off towers and seeming to shake the foundations of the city itself. Perhaps the silence is that intense – or perhaps it is not a human voice that speaks.

A figure steps out of the crowd. Lithe, powerful, poised. Her – for the figure is obviously female – head is hooded, her unseen eyes look downward, and her shoulders are adorned with a long half-cape upon which is emblazoned the crest of Demacia. The unsullied white and shining gold of her attire mirror the colors of the grand palace before her almost perfectly: she seems almost like an extension of the architecture itself save for the massive, flat-tipped blade resting on one shoulder.

As the crowd watches she glides slowly forward, her foot-falls silent, her cape flowing behind her.

Xin Zhao is moving before the echoes have died. He barrels up the stairs as fast as his legs will carry him, forcing his way through the crowd. He grits his teeth in frustration: he is losing time he cannot afford to waste. How did she get past? How the six hells did she get past?

“You cannot speak to us of justice, ‘Chancellor.’ One cannot speak of something one does not understand.”

Her voice is deep and rich, her tone mocking.

“Your justice is an abomination. It is sold to the highest bidder, and dealt out in dark rooms where the light of truth is not allowed to shine.”

The Honor Guard steps, sensing something is amiss. Six of Demacia’s finest: second only to those chosen for the Dauntless Vanguard itself. They form a protective line ‘twixt the approaching figure and the Chancellor’s dais, weapons drawn.

The figure does not stop.

“You and yours have bled this country dry, Jorel Tolberre…”

She raises her head, revealing naught but an alabaster mask, its eternal expression twisted into one of impossible sadness.

“…and I have come to pay you back in kind.”

A gasp ripples through the assembled crowd, and the Honor Guard braces themselves as the figure surges suddenly forward, sword at the ready.

The woman pirouettes as she runs, the great blade whispering through the air. There is a sickening, tearing sound, a strangled scream, and the foremost guard goes down in a puddle of crimson, desperately clutching for legs that are no longer there. She steps over the stricken soldier without a second glance, blade already rising to meet the halberd of the next guard. It shears straight through the sturdy oak without slowing. The man stares in shock for a fatal second, then drops the useless haft, struggling to draw his sword before the blade swings his way again.

He is too slow.

A fraction of a second later the figure hits the line of Demacian soldiers like a Noxian battering ram, and a man goes down, cloven from shoulder to hip. The figure pivots gracefully, sword rising, the sheer weight of the blade lifting a luckless soldier bodily off the ground. Time seems to slow as the weapon crests the apex of its arc, then all too swiftly leaps forward as the man is flung before the wicked edge, steel scything effortlessly through flesh and bone.

Red blood drips into the deep cracks in the marble floor as the figure pulls the blade free, the motion flowing seamlessly into a backwards swing that neatly bisects the two men rushing her. Their riven armor clatters dully around them as they fall lifeless on the cold stone. Silence falls once more.

It has taken only seconds.

Xin Zhao finally breaks out of the crowd, gathering speed as he runs up the stairs to the dais.

Too late.

The Honor Guard has fallen.

“See what you have wrought, Chancellor.”

The woman advances on the frail figure, who cowers against the low wall surrounding the balcony.

“Demacia’s best die so that creatures like you can perch your bloated bodies on the corpse of our country and pick our bones clean. Just now innocent men died to defend your lies and protect your treachery because they thought you knew what justice was. They died in an attempt to preserve a dream that you and yours killed long ago.”

The Chancellor’s eyes roll wild as he searches desperately for any recourse, but the figure is upon him, and she hauls him bodily upward by his richly embroidered robes, throwing him unceremoniously upon the dais.

“But they will not have died in vain, for their noble blood shall wash your vile ichor from these hallowed stones and Demacia will rise again, greater for their sacrifice. Citizens of Demacia bear witness, for this…”

The great blade rises, gleaming blood red in the light of the setting sun…

“…is Justice.”

…and falls with a thunderous crash.

must say i love the visual representation for the abilities and the amount of work you put into it. P: does this include her natural as growth? Q: I really don't like the 100% crit chance with 2 items but it does function as a good farming tool. W:Are the passive and active available at the same time or is it a choice? E:it works i guess. R:scary. IMHO it feels too much like darius in abilities.

Where did you make those in-game functionality things? I would like to make those for my ideas. I really do like this idea. I can tell you took your time.

Just stopping by to leave a small comment: I really like Q and E for their way to apply damage and how they have two parts to them that can be strong if they managed to be linked together. The skill here is getting the enemy to be attacked twice which //can// be difficult to pull off. Other people are explaining this better than I am. I'm sure you've read other people's response.

I also agree with their opinions on W and somewhat on her ulti.

Her w feels like a free ability (I mean some of it ok. It just needs to have a cost or at least disadvantage in order to have those free stats).

Her ultimate's damage scaling on the number of additional champions around them seems unique. I like that part of it; however, I don't really like how it works. The blink and channel doesn't seem like a good reason to have an ultimate that deals tons of damage (tm). Also, does she really need true damage in her ult? Her passive seems to compensate enough to //not// have true damage.

To summarize, if you find a way link her ult with her basic abilities where she can feel satisfied in unleashing her ultimate along with her enemies (hey, sometimes, being beautifully executed after being outplayed sounds great) via accomplishing an objective or something... something apart from bringing them down to a low HP so you can blink and execute them, you would have a satisfying executioner champion on your hands :).

######On the contrary, her character seems badass. Finally, another strong, independent woman who needs no man.

Just throwing a couple ideas out there:

Being an executioner, she could do with at least one "deals more damage the less HP the target has" skill of some kind, at least in my opinion.

Something related to extra damage against cc'd enemies could be good too, as execution victims are often tied up/bound in some way to prevent them escaping their fate.

Holdenmicgroin5/23/2017, 12:13:52 PM1 votes

Really do like the idea, have 2 things which a bit of a problem and one...great one lol

Little one num 1: Passive, Attack speed to damage. I can see exactly where your going with this but league they tend to avoid anything which affects a character in such a way that they can gain item stats for cheaper prices. For example Long Sword costs 350 gold, grants 10 AD and is a stable starting item in league, your passive allows for the player to instead build a Dagger, an item for 300 gold and provides 12% attack speed. That means not only does a player save 50 gold but they gain an additional 2 AD. Now this might seem inconsequential but its something that you have to consider, balancing for these items are very good, so if suddenly Blade of the Ruin king provides 65 AD instead of 25 AD and AD is clearly already valued as a 50 gold better, like blood thirster is 3700 and that adds 75. I fear the cheapness of the build a player could create, which would go against the tanky persona your trying to make. Now u could balance this by either reducing the scaling or by reducing her scalling damage in order to balance but that's up too you. The numbers just don't work how I see them atm. Tbh, I think to try and push a later tank build, maybe have it scale off her cdr maybe? its something unique and I could see it work? but that's just a weird suggestion.

Little two: League tries to avoid punishing a player for a bad team, now there are exceptions to this, like illaoi Ult, however that is her key move and it isn't overloaded in the sense of no CC and lots of counter play even if your team stuffed up. This one is just a plane I hope my team doesn't suck. Their is a reason that their isn't more mechanics like this in league because a good player shouldn't be punished in such a severe way. If she went up against a Zed his only hope is too have a quick silver because she can literally just flash up too him even if he escapes and CC him, then its just the teams job to do the rest. Now I like the ability, but its a movement, a CC and an insane damage an you wont rely on your team not stuffing up to not be executed straight up.

THE BIG ASS NONO: Passive: Adrasta's abilities and auto-attacks that deal physical damage ignore 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% of her target's bonus armor.

Well ill give you one thing, you would single handedly end the tank meta in a second if this champ existed lol. Like straight up this is just way way way way over powered on someone with such a large heavy kit. This would just make people cry in desperation because there is literally no counter play. Lots of champs have armour piercing abilities but they they last for a few seconds and don't normally scale up this high. Now this just a flat bonus too attacks and abilities is just insane. Though I think I actually know a fix to this. Maybe change 40/50/60/70/80% of her targets bonus armour that is GREATER than her own. this way she still has great shred against enemies that have built solid tank but lacks the whole, I would uninstall the game if I versed her feel that you had going. Now I do think she needs this ability and it works well given all her % health damage to enemies, kinda makes her seem a lot more of a tank killer, however flat 50% ability only armour pen on bonus armour would be hell. Sorry if it doesn't seem super helpful this one but I was drinking a coffee and i suddenly had first hand knowledge of my worst league nightmare as a sion.

Now maybe you could fix all these problems around just by moving it around a bit, idk but maybe changing the W to instead only affect abilities wouldn't be too bad, also kinda makes her focus more on her abilities. Also on a finishing note i thing this chick could be really cool anti tank and i hope i somewhat helped, thnks for the feedback on mine btw u where right the abilities do work a lot. Hope i help
