** Atamun IV, Atlantean Magocrat**

Atamun IV is a Magocrat from the lost kingdom of Atlantea. He is capable of creating his own unique spells by building them out of two spell components.

Model

As an Atlantean noble, Atamun IV wears regal bronze embroidered blue robes that go well with his white skin and azure hair. Atlantean dress code was elaborate and decadent, prominently featuring long trailing satin ribbons and ornate bronze circlets.

But Atamun IV is not just a harmless noble and Atlantean alchemy was well ahead of even today's yordle technology: when in combat, illuminated sectors and energy lines running through his robe indicate a personal defensive matrix and his regal staff uses lenses and a bound light elemental to fires beams of scorching blue energy.

Skins

  • Shurima Atamun IV - Scheming grand vizier with a ruby laser staff and a vulture on his shoulder.
  • Arclight Atamun IV - White robes, long beard, halo, stands on a thundercloud and wields a staff of lightning.
  • Magistrate Atamun IV - Dressed in a toga and wearing a laurel crown. Reward skin to commemorate the relaunch of the Tribunal, given to judges with an accuracy rating in the top 5%.

#Abilities

No ultimate Atamun IV does not have an ultimate. His [R] is available at level 1 and each ability including his ultimate goes up to level 6.

Atlantean Alchemy Atamun IV casts spells by mixing elements. To cast a spell, press two elements within 1 second: a primary element and a secondary element. The primary element determines its effect on targets; the secondary element determines its shape and completes the spell, bringing up the aiming cursor (or launching the spell if smartcast is used). When a spell is completed, the primary element goes on cooldown, preventing its use as either element in a subsequent spell until the cooldown wears off.

  • The primary and secondary elements can be the same.
  • The primary element has a 0.25 second cast time, removing the advantage of using keyboard macros by limiting the maximum cast speed to 0.25 seconds.
  • The secondary element does not scale with skill level.
  • If no secondary element is chosen, the spell fizzles and 50% of its cost is refunded.

Master of Transmutation When Atamun IV last hits every minion in a wave, he gains 5 (+lvl) bonus gold and a transmutation stack. Upon reaching 10 transmutation stacks, he gains a free skill point and the stack counter is reset. He can gain up to 6 skill points this way, allowing him to max out all four of his abilities.

  • 09/26 update to enable a support build: Last hits by allied champions do not prevent Atamun IV from getting the bonus gold and transmutation stack as long as he last hits at least one minion in the wave himself.

[Q] Pholgos - Fire

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/diablo/images/7/7a/IconMeteor.png/revision/latest?cb=20140606111949

As primary element The created spell uses the element of fire, dealing heavy magic damage to enemy units it hits.

  • Valid targets: Enemy units
  • Magic damage: 70/110/150/190/230/270 (+0.9 AP)
  • Mana cost: 60/65/70/75/80/85
  • Cooldown: 8.0/7.5/7.0/6.5/6.0 seconds

As secondary element The created spell manifests as a projectile of blazing elemental energy that travels in a straight line and explodes when it hits a valid target, applying the primary element in a small area. It passes through invalid targets without interacting with them.

  • Cast type: Skillshot
  • Missile range: 1000
  • Missile speed: 1500
  • Blast radius: 150
  • Applies 100% of the first element to valid targets in the explosion radius

[W] Xeimon - Lightning

http://vignette3.wikia.nocookie.net/diablo/images/a/af/IconShockPulse.png/revision/latest?cb=20140606105754

As primary element The created spell uses the element of lightning. If it hits an enemy unit, it deals magic damage and grants Atamun IV a brief burst of movement speed that decays over time. The movement speed bonus does not stack, but repeated applications refresh its duration.

  • Valid targets: Enemy units
  • Magic damage: 50/80/110/140/170/200 (+0.6 AP)
  • Speeds up caster by +30/35/40/45/50/55% decaying to 0% over 1.75 seconds
  • Mana cost: 60/65/70/75/80/85
  • Cooldown: 9 seconds

As secondary element The created spell summons an untargettable bronze magitech spark generator at the target location. The device has two large bronze prongs shaped like a Jacob's ladder and an arc of elemental energy that slowly travels to the top. When the arc reaches the top, a ball of elemental energy is generated and homes in on Atamun IV, travelling through units until it reaches him, applying the primary element to all valid targets in its path. The device fires 2 balls before destroying itself.

  • Cast type: Ground target
  • Cast range: 800
  • Device fires a ball after 0.75 seconds and another after 1.50 seconds
  • Each ball applies 70% of the first element to valid targets in the ball's path
  • If the primary element affects allied units, it also affects Atamun IV when the ball reaches him

[E] Nethys - Water

http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/diablo/images/7/7b/Chill.png/revision/latest?cb=20140905085213

As primary element The created spell uses the element of water, granting a shield to allied units. While the shield holds, a portion of its remaining strength is gradually transferred to health. Atamun IV will also receive the shield if he is inside the affected area.

  • Valid targets: Allied units
  • Water shield strength: 70/110/150/190/230/270 (+0.45 AP)
  • Water shield duration: 4 seconds
  • Transfers 10% of remaining shield strength to health per second
  • Mana cost: 60/65/70/75/80/85
  • Cooldown: 11.5/11.0/10.5/10.0/9.5/9.0 seconds

As secondary element The created spell manifests as a circular wave of elemental energy that explodes outwards after a short delay, applying the primary element to all valid targets in an area around Atamun IV. Targets close to Atamun IV are affected more strongly.

  • Cast type: Self centred AoE
  • Delay: 0.75 seconds
  • Inner, middle, outer radius: 200, 275, 350
  • Applies 100, 80, 60% of the first element to valid targets in the inner, middle, outer radius

[R] Thethon - Earth

http://vignette1.wikia.nocookie.net/diablo/images/a/ac/Mystic_Ally.png/revision/latest?cb=20140705162123

As primary element The created spell uses the element of earth, dealing magic damage to enemy units it hit, suspending them by impaling them on spikes of rock.

  • Valid targets: Enemy units
  • Magic damage: 50/80/110/140/170/200 (+0.6 AP)
  • Suspend duration: 1.0/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4/1.5 seconds
  • Mana cost: 60/65/70/75/80/85
  • Cooldown: 10 seconds

As secondary element Atamun IV throws an elementally charged bronze magitech trident in an arc at a target location. The trident passes harmlessly over units in its path, but sticks in the ground at the target location and emits a sequence of three elemental pulses around itself, each covering more area than the last.

  • Cast type: Target location
  • Cast range: 750
  • Pulses after 0.75, 1.50, 2.25 seconds
  • Pulse radius: 200, 300, 400
  • Each pulse applies 50% of the first element to valid targets in the area

#Gameplay

Pressing two buttons to cast one spell is easier than it looks; Jarvan has been doing it since 2011.

Managing elements Planning ahead is important because the primary element goes on cooldown when a spell completes, rendering the secondary element under the same button inaccessible during the cooldown. For instance, if you use [QE] to cast a circular wave of fire that deals tons of damage, [Q] Fire goes on cooldown. For the next 6 seconds, you can't cast a fire spell again and you can't cast exploding bolts because the exploding bolt is the secondary effect of [Q] Fire.

In lane Gaining early dominance is important because last hitting every minion in a wave grants gold and contributes to free skill points. Take [Q] Fire early because it deals tons of damage if used as a primary element. As the lane goes on, spend points into either [R] Earth for a zoning AoE and a counter to mobility, [E] Water for turtling and waveclear (heh) or [W] Lightning for hit and run poke.

Teamfights Being a squishy mage with lots of delayed damage, he may want to stay at a distance, using [Q] Fire to poke from far away and [W] Lightning or [R] Earth to zone enemies before the fight starts.

#Lore

The Institute steamer emerged from the dense fog perpetually covering the shattered island. On its prow were two passengers: a Demacian Summoner in Institute robes and an imposing wizard in elaborate garb of classical design that evoked an ancient past of togas, temples and wisdom.

With an annoyed gesture, the wizard brushed off the black soot from the ship's funnel. Six thousand years hence and the fools had achieved nothing of value, like wandering sheep without their shepherds.

The pair disembarked and set foot on the ashen rocks. Excavation machinery, crates bearing the Institute sigil and various carefully labelled pots and vases were strewn across the pumice shore. The Institute Summoner indicated a gleaming sarcophagus. "This is where our crew found your stasis pod, Atlantean. Let us begin here, shall we?", the Summoner suggested. The wizard looked down upon him. "Names hold power, human. My name is Atamun. You claim the title of Summoner yet you are afraid of power. Send us back, human, watch and learn!"

The Summoner took his hand and cast a time rune. The grim pumice of the blackened islands faded as a clear blue sky opened up above them and grass sprung up on rolling hills. Before the pair appeared an iridescent marble city on the verdant flanks of a towering mountain, crowned by the palace where the antediluvian kings once ruled justly and mercifully over the developing human and yordle races of the mainland.

"The aquifer runs below this location. This is where I found shelter," said Atamun as he led the summoner past emerald arches and flowering trees to a sunlit plaza. An orderly crowd in gold-embroidered tunics silently watched as a large magical portal was being conjured into existence. At the other side of the coalescing gate, stars glistened above the giant ferns and red gress of an alien world. He gestured towards the cerulean-clad wizards working on the portal. "It took seven Magocrats to maintain the portal during the exodus. Seven of us had to stay behind. The other six must still be alive, below the obsidian, sleeping in their stasis pods. I know it!"

Atamun turned around and found the Summoner ignoring him and studying the pavement. "Human! Yes, our streets were paved with gold. Too bad your ancestors forgot everything we taught them!"

In the distance, graceful buildings of white marble dotted the verdant mountain. Birds of paradise circled its unblemished peak shrouded in white clouds, unaware of the fires rising within. "We are too early!", Atamun continued. "The exodus ended in twelve days, six hours, two minutes. Move on!"

The Summoner invoked the time rune again and the sun whirled as day turned to night and back to day, a bright yellow streak gradually darkening to a dull red. When time slowed again, the deserted city was covered in a thick cloud of ash, illuminated by the glow of an abyssal fire. In the distance, a cloaked shape fled towards the palace, torn robes fluttering in the burning wind. Atamun immediately recognised him: "Magocrat Tamesh!"

And he ran after the apparition. The Summoner, studying the remnants of an intricate manastone fountain, was caught off guard and let go of Atamun's hand. In an instant, the plaza and its ruins faded and gave way before obsidian shores and congealed lava floes. Atamun landed with a thud and a cloud of pumice dust, watching the Summoner disappear into the cold surf of the Guardian's Sea with a loud splash. The ancient Atlantean admonished him when he made it back to the shore, covered in kelp. "Human! You simian imbecile!"

The Summoner lost his patience. "This expedition is sponsored by the Institute of War. We are not a charity and time travel is not a holiday trip!" Atamun responded promptly, fuming like the caldera. "You seek not wisdom but plunder! You have come to pillage Atlantea's treasures, fill the coffers of of your Institute and keep the fruits of our knowledge locked up for the sake of petty power!"

Before the Atlantean could walk off, the Summoner angrily pulled on his sleeve. The unearthly fabric glowed faintly to the touch. "You need us more than we need you, Magocrat. We have the machinery, the magic and the manpower to turn this caldera upside down and inside out until we find what we want. And what we want is the alchemical devices your race built to achieve arcane transmutation. What you want is those six stasis pods. It would be a shame if we could not come to an agreement."

"Your memories would be very useful to us, Magocrat, but if you force our hand, we could always just apply brute force until your ruins give up their secrets. You, on the other hand, have no choice. You need us to retrieve those stasis pods. Without your memories, we might never find them. Or perhaps we might damage them by accident. When we found your stasis pod, we came this close to running it over with a steam drill!" The Summoner theatrically walked away, raising his arms to the heavens. "Accidents happen when you have superiors nipping at the hem of your robe and no one ever wants to help. Your workers are under pressure, they don't pay attention for a moment and crack!"

"I may not have a choice today," Atamun admitted defeat. "All I can give you is a warning. The secrets of Atlantea are not meant for your race. The Moires do not smile kindly upon those who use them unwisely." The Summoner nodded and ignored him. The Atlantean wizard shrugged. Foolish ape...

I mained mid for a very long time and have to say this champion would basically be my dream champion, and now that I main support he is almost still my dream champion! I love the amount of options you have with his kit and I do feel like it could feel really smooth to execute. The only thing I can really complain about his the skill point concept. It is unique and interesting but I feel like it limits his role possibilities when he seems like he's got a kit that screams try me anywhere! I would love to see it where you get the standard 18 skill points split among 4 skills but each has the possibility of reaching rank 5. Forcing you to choose what primary effects are most important for the role your filling. Regardless though a very well thought out champion I'd love to see in game.
